Happy, happy New Year - wishing us all health, healing, happiness (and maybe wealth?!)! Welcome to the newbies - you have found a cheerful, supportive group here!

goldie0827 - I never thought to go back and edit my profile so thank you for the heads up :) Bright and sunny here, but chilly, chilly - I love "glumpy" - your pics and poem are terrific!

Jazzy - I love that painting...

Teka - I saw those pics on FB today and sent them to a farm friend who delivers fresh eggs to me, they tickled me too!

Chi - Technology tends to be frustrating, especially if person at the other end thinks it is your "issue", we, too, caught up with old friends and it was a great evening...

NM - your Fizz the Season rocks! Hope you and Sadie enjoyed your Disaster flicks, I couldn't find the New Year countdown either :(

Take care each and everyone! Cheers Janice

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day!A bit chilly today, 9 degrees with a bit of a breeze. Cold enough that all the wet stuff from New Year's Day has frozen up.The deck was snapping and banging all night long. It does that when the temp is dropping fast and it's freezing up. Makes for a noisy night! I don't know how Sadie sleeps through it.

    Jazzy--beautiful!

Goldie--10 inches is a lot of snow! Looks pretty but creates havoc at times.Glad hubby didn't get hurt!

    Muddling--glad you can help Gigi!

Chi--I hear you about not going through as much bubbly in one evening now as before!

Janky--I don't know why Sadie and I like disaster movies so much, but we do, and we had a great time with them the last couple of days!

Our very own namesake cocktail, Café de Abejas.

    Café de Abejas

    2 parts Calvados

2 parts dark Crème de Cacao

2 parts strong coffee sweetened with honey

    1 dash Angostura bitters

Shake all ingredients like your life depends on it and strain in to a cocktail glass. Decorate with a few roasted coffee beans.

Mud, glad you could offer some help to Gigi. That's what we are here for, right?

Sandy, good thing the "not feeling well" guests decided to decline. Don't need to make others sick.

Janky, the word "glumpy" is Cami's. She has some wild ones, let me tell ya! And thanks for trying to edit your profile. I know some people don't like to post where they live or a picture of themselves. We have so many new loungettes, I can't keep everyone straight with this pea brain of mine.

NM, our temps this morning are very similar to yours and getting more snow, but doesn't look like it's going to be much. Will have to wait until it gets light out to tell.

Cami, I hope you made it to your party!

    Mornin Ladies

LOL Kim about shaken that drink, sounds good tho. Yea I like disaster , action and scary movies too. So u an Sadie can enjoy watching movies together too.I know u have chains on ur tires, but does that help in ice too???

Lori u and Jazzy have gotten so much snow, I don't remember u2 ever getting that much. The driving must be terrible for most people who aren't used to it especially. I saw the pics and it looked like Chicago, ecept so far we haven't had that yet.

Oh Gigi u can get a lot of help from the newbies especially here so take advantage of it. We just all hope u tolerate this well. Everyone is different, but ud like to be the positive everyone..

Janice it must have been nice being with old friends, I hope.

Sandy good thing u got those boots in time, I'm surprised u did and they were still in stock, Oh I bet u have a small foot. I member when I was in 6th grade for some strange reason the nun had us all stand up and tell our shoe size??? everyone was like a 4,5, even 6. I was an 81/2 but I said 8 and yep I went to confession for lying that week. Oh I wish my feet stopped there tho.

Well plans fell thru yesterday, my cousin's DH, had a terrible cold, of course she was trying to stay away but not that many people went So Nicky came here for a little while we had some champagne, I did have a sip, blah for me and 1/2 bottle was left. They did get a box of Omaha Steaks for Christmas so Marty madesome filets , I don't eat meat but they enjoyed them, so that was nice.

    LUBS U ALL

Good morning friends and HAPPY NEW YEAR (yes i am yelling at you!)

Sorry I have been more MIA the past few days, just trying to get caught up on a lot of stuff I had to get done for end of year business things, caught up on other personal things and get some plans together for the new year. I like to put a list of goals together each year and have not been as dedicated about doing it the last few years end of year because there is always some distraction. New work, end of year deadlines, etc. on top of all the holiday stuff. Whew, how do we make it through December?

I worked Monday and also had a meeting for new work with one gal I know, another I met. They have some things coming in Q2 and interested to help. Sort of glad they don't need my help right now as I have another project starting on this current gig for the same home health/hospice client. I will have plenty to keep me busy the first three months. I updated some information they asked for last night and will wait to hear more from them. I got asked by another firm to pick up some work PT in January with them but never heard from them and he also had another FT gig in Santa Fe he was really wanting to fill so he could keep the PT work in town. My guess is that is what happened. So onward we go into a busy 2019 with Jazzy's business. Grateful for all this work as it was slow for awhile.....

We had a mother of a storm come through here (Goldie had it before us) and it started snowing up in the mountains at noon on Monday and then New Years Eve night, the snow moved in here to the valley. I made an executive decision to just stay in NY Eve and Day anyways, as I just need a bit more home time right now. Just watched the tube NYE and enjoyed a glass of petite syrah and yesterday, woke up to watch about 12 hours of falling snow. I pulled out the shovel for the first time in a long time (last big storm like this was 2006 that left us with feet vs. inches) and shoveled the driveway and have about another inch on it as of end of day. Supposedly we may get a bit more today (eek). A good part of I-40 is shut down, city services are closed for today, heard the national lab here also has a "snow day". I am seeing a lot of the management where I am working is also reporting that they are working from home. Many have to be in to do work so checking in on my team too.

More later! I have a photo to share with you that will give you the sense of snow here.......

    Wishing everyone a wonderful Wednesday.

Cami - I do love 'glumpy' such an appropriate word for how I feel often!! Love your kitties, such a dynamic bunch :) Do you eat fish? I have cut down on meat, and picked up on fish and veggies, and am trying to find food sources with calcium, apart from milk...

goldie - thanks for allowing me to give credit where credit is due! I just edited my profile again so we will see what shows up when I post - how challenging can it be??!

Muddlin - How long after original dx before you were stage i? I got less than a year :( and started the Ibrance/Letrozole in February 2018 - so far so good!

NM - I wish I could sleep like Sadie, Levi, my cat is the same way - gently snoring as the wind howls and the frozen branches are snapping away!!

Chi - glad you got your boots! Isn't it the truth tough how back in the day NYE would involve a few bottles of bubbly or some such bevvy, now a glass or two (or 3) suffice!

Mema - Good luck with info from your onco today, not knowing is so o o frustrating!

Jazzy - Sounds like you will be kept busy one way and another this year. I love 'deer deep' - we have had that much in the last couple of years, so far we have just a wee bit of snow, just enough to make outdoor walking slippy and dangerous for someone like me who loses balance!

    Cheers! Janice

Happy 2019! Thanks for all the info! And, thanks to EVERYONE for being uplifting, funny, and to be just HERE on this site! I have seen where some people can really be "Debbie Downers"...don't like reading stuff like that (it was in another section)!

Mud-.yup, got my port on December 4th when they removed my left boob! I PM'd u too!

Cami-yup I'm a newbie..but not for long. Ya'll are a great help and love reading what ya'll poste

NativeMainer-Not sure what flavor the Gummie will be, but all I know is it is gonna be a bute...:)

Wig-Hopefully I'll get my Gummie around June! Dr said normally it takes 4-6 months of putting air in the tire to get where you need to be.

Goldie-Gonna start pumping up the flat tire soon! Maybe the drain will come out tomorrow, after my tx. I am still on the border line with the drainage amounts. Although, he said he can start pumping the tire, even with the drain in...so..we shall see! Pretty sure that will be uncomfortable, but I'm not stressing about it..it is what it is!

Looks like everyone here is a great support group..ya'll been together for a while..so glad I found ya!

And lets, see..to answer NativeMariner-Love a cold beer, now Mickey Ultra is the flavor of choice. It was Bud Select (NOT 55) in the bottle, but they quit selling the bottles..so we dropped them. NOTHING LIKE A COLD BEER in the bottle! As far as bourbon, we like Rich Rare and Reserve w/ the gold cap. It's like the poor man's Crown Royal. And of course, 60 - 40 rule applies..60% bourbon in the glass w/ 40% of pepsi! And that's if we use a shot glass! Sometimes we get heavy handed... :)!

Back to work..lunch is over! Some of you had snow recently, here in Eastern NC it was 75 degrees on January 1st! But cold weather is coming our way! It may make it here by February!

    Good day ladies!

The other night with leftovers (and a couple of Buffalo wings from the freezer), I had a Krombacher non-alcoholic weissbier. Surprisingly tasty, nice floral & spice aroma, good creamy head. My favorite low-carb beer is Michelob Ultra Amber. The standard version might as well be seltzer with an eyedropper full of vodka or EverClear.

Had some of that Angeline Pinot Noir (abt. 2 oz.) with the leftover pork steak & veg.

Today we're supposed to get snow showers, but not sure if it'll stick. (If I drive to my mani appt. it will, if I take a rideshare it won't). Starting tomorrow, 40s for the foreseeable future. Jazzy, we haven't had anything close to that "deer-deep" snow since Chiberia Snowmageddon in 2014.

We're going to Vegas for Super Bowl weekend--after the game, we have tix to see Lady Gaga "unplugged" (aka "jazz & piano"). The better to hear her voice...

Hi friends- congrats to all those who made it back to work today after the holidays. Also congrats to those plowing through who worked through the holidays.

Thoughts for the newbees here (welcome) and the threads. It is important for you to find places here where you are supported. It is also okay to recognize when a thread and those that are on it may not be the right place for you. Like Goldie said, any of us can find us going down the rabbit hole during dx, treatment, recovery, with a possible re-occurrence, progression, etc. It's okay to drop off sites, tell people you are leaving if you feel you need to, etc. We all have our tribes in life, the people that support us, sustain and make us laugh. What you may find about this thread is that the women here have been through a lot and happy to give you perspective. But we are not a bossy crowd and we also know how to have fun and laugh.

I started on a couple threads years ago that I no longer participate in, but found my way to this one because a couple of the women I started with back in the beginning are here (Cami & Teka). Met so many other nice ladies here too. I don't spend a lot of time on BCO these days but when I come here, I always check in on my fellow partay animals.

We can be in your pocket as you to in to apts, scans, surgeries, rad treatments, chemo and all the rest. We have all been there on some level. We are here for you!

Aperol spritz at dinner in a neighborhood Italian joint. Then Ch. Cazeneuve NV Brut Champagne to celebrate that there will be a bonus this year (big enough to cover the tax checks we'll have to write, and with enough withheld from it that next year there should be a refund, sparing us from paying quarterly estimated tax).

Cami, bummer you missed the party, but you certainly don't need to come down with any sickness. Haven't been out driving, but I'm sure the main roads are fine.

Jazzy, sounds like you are pretty busy, hoping you will be able to slow it down a bit. Good luck on the new jobs. LOL, deer deep. How much snow did you get? right on about none of us being bossy.

Sue, hoping you don't have many more treatments. Did this round of chemo treatments make all your hair fall out? My gosh, you havebeen through so so much, I don't know how you do it. I think I would just give up. You are my hero!

Gigi, my son lives in NC and we was telling me that it was 70 degrees where he is, China Grove…more inland. I believe you said you were near the coast? I don't like Debbie Downer threads, but that doesn't mean we don't get sad here, cuz we do, when someone is having a hard time of things, but we never put anyone down or tell them what they are doing is wrong……such as drinkin….LOL!

Sandy, have fun in Vegas and at the concert, how long are you gone for?

-7 degrees below the donut hole here this morning. But looks like we will get some sun.

Such cold temps for some of us, how about a MINT ICICLE for our DOTD.

I can't get into the site for the recipe! But it has Grey Goose in it!

Goldie- my part of town only got 3 inches but without much for snow plows, the city has a tough time coping. I went out this morning (dang it is cold) and heading in to my client site. The road out of here is a bit icy but will take it slow. One of my neighbors said the main arteries are clear. Away we go!

It was reported to be - 15 in Taos today (2 plus hours north of here). EEEK! Polar Express go away!

Stop Doing Heists for me, Don't Try Exercise for Sadie!

Good morning, Loungettes!Happy Thursday! I'm looking forward to a simply wonderful day as I start my colonoscopy prep in a few hours. So not looking forward to this. Starting out the mornign with BLACK coffee is NOT to my liking!Fortunately it's only once every 5 years or so. Poor Sadie isn't going to know what to think when I start running to the potty every few minutes. She may change her mind about my need to be supervised EVERY time I go potty!

Goldie--we've got an inch more snow this ayem. Still snowing, very pretty. Hope it's not snowing tomorrow, Mom hates to drive in the snow and she's my taxifor the day.

Cammy--I don't have chains on my tires, but I do have studded tires and those do help with the ice. But what helps the most is slowing down, and some idiots simply will not slow down.Yesterday I was driving the speed limit on a stretch and 2 cars pulled out to pass me at the same time, I almost got sent into the ditch, and it's a wonder there wasn't a crash. And yet I'm the driver that gets the bird flipped at me! Sorry your cousin couldn't visit, but glad the filets were enjoyed!

Jazzy--wow, lots of work opportunities for you coming up!Must be nice to be able to pick and choose! Sounds like quite the storm you got there! It's amazing how many ways there are to continue getting work done on a snow day. Yup, that's deep snow!

Mema--hope the trip to LV was helpful and you got an answer to "how many more?"And you have a date for the implants! That must feel exciting.

Janky--If only we all could sleep as soundly as our fur babies! Sadie is such a good bed warmer, too. Love cuddling in the chilly night with her.

Gigi--75 degrees in January? That's wild.Love the 60/40 rule, but since when do we MEASURE our drinks?I like to eyeball it, and my eyeballs always know just what I need more of and less of!

Muddling--at the top of the page click on "My Profile" and that will take you to where you can edit your diagnosis and treatment info. Then go back to the threads, open one, click on your screen name at the top of one of your posts (next to your avatar/picture) and you will go to the settings page where you can set who can see the information. You'll need to scroll down to the bottom to set the privacy to public for diagnoses and treatments so they can be seen.

Chi--Vegas for superbowl and Lady Gaga sounds like a busy trip!

Jazzy--Good info about finding threads that fit where you are right now. Over the years I have migrated through many threads, some of them died a natural death, some are still going on and I drop in from time to time, some are still going on and I have left entirely, some I read but rarely post anymore, and a very few I read and post in regularly. As we progress through this experience what we need for support and what we can lend for support changes. And that's ok. There seems to be a thread here for just about any phase of the experience and any level of support.

    Resolution Cocktail

    Ingredients

    1 1/2 ounce vodka

    2 ounce apple cider

    1 pinch ground ginger

1 pinch powder chia tea mix (optional)

    1 ounce merlot

    1 splash lime juice

    Directions

Combine vodka, apple cider, ground ginger, powdered chai tea mix (optional), merlot and a splash of lime juice in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with an apple slice.

I needed that laugh after ordering my first Ibrance of the year this morning and getting the shock of my life when hearing my co-pay, which of course has to go on a card or they won't ship. I asked about next month's co-pay and I really, really wish I hadn't. 🙀

Thanks for the info about the profile. I *think* I got it but will have to check and then read the directions if not, ha ha.

Hey hey..1st round of Herceptin and Taxol! It went great and I feel great. May feel like crap later but now I feel amazingly normal! Cross that bump if I see it👊! I also went to plastic surgeon after my treatment and my drain come out.. 1 day shy of 4 weeks. And I got some air in my flat tire! Yay!! So next treatment 1/10/19..it will be #2 of 12! Gettin r dun. !

Native-trust me we do more eyeballing than measuring. But we do try to measure Atleast on the first one🤣

Goldie- we are about 1 1/2 hrs from coast. But we stay there on the weekends, got a place away from home. The depressing DD thread was elsewhere..would never put anyone down, but that deep hole was dark! Getting the flat tire pumped up wasactually painless. They put in 20cc and we will go from there I only feel a little pressure but I was made aware of that prior too pump up!

Everyone have a good night. Happy Friday Eve!

Wanted to share my first day of “medicine” as being awesome..considering!

NM, I hope your day and night went "smoothly". Huggles for you today, enjoy that nice 15 minute sleep.

Gigi, glad to hear all went well. I don't know about this weekly Taxol, I did Taxol, but it was every 3 weeks. I felt ick on day 3, but I assume yours is not as strong, hence the weekly doses. Hope you don't get sick at all on it. Congrat on the first getting that tire started!

Forgot about a dentist appt today, so need to head out early. Hoping it's not too bad on our way back in. It will be froze this morning.

I booked myself a girlfriends weekend with a friend from the east coast in San Diego end of the month. Have not spent time there in awhile, but my friend's new job/company is HQ there so she is out there a lot from the east coast where she works from home and travels there and to other places. She mentioned she was going to be out there end of January and I told her I would fly out for a few days. Nice direct flights to and from making it all easy. I am going to go put my toes in the sand in the middle of this cold winter....

Many years ago, I used to travel a lot up and down the coast in CA and spent some time in SD. I remember some restaurants there having some really great smoked fish. Any of you world travels know of any good places for that? I was talking to my friend about it and she has not really had much smoked fish but open to the idea of it. Checking Trip Advisor and Yelp too, but love to ask my breasties here too.

    We are finally above freezing!

Gigi, good to hear you're still feeling well. Now, let's keep it that way!

Wow, a whole day and no posts! I had unexpected company yesterday and wasn't sure what time they were going to show up, so had to get the house picked up and figure something for dinner, not like I can just run to the grocery store, 2 hour round trip drive! Had spaghetti, salad and garlic bread, worked out perfect!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday Funday!Well, my colonoscopy/upper endoscopy is over and what a good news/bad news experience that was. The good news:no polyps, no sign of cancer in the bowel, stomach or esophagus, the Barretts esophagus is stable. The bad news:the prep stuff was so horrible I had all I could do to not throw it all back up as soon as I drank it, fought with that all afternoon and evening Thursday, was still dry heaving when I got to the hospital Friday from it. Then it took over 2 hours to get an IV in, ended up getting one put in my neck in the external jugular vein, after getting one in my ankle and having it blow right off. And of course all of this is done before I see the gastro and sign consents, so no pain relief or sedation is possible. On top of that they never called to tell me what time to show up, I had to call them and find out.Of course, they have the right phone number to call me and make the appointment, but between making the appointment and calling me back to tell me about the details my phone number gets changed to one that is 10 years or more out of date. Now to wait and see if I ever get the follow up report on the biopsies he took of the Barretts esophagus. I only got those results Friday cuz I kept asking for them and telling them I wouldn't leave until I had them. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to make myself go through that again. God bless Sadie, when I got home she practically glued herself to me even though I know she wanted to go annoy my Mom!

Goldie--thanks for the pocket full of support, I'd have never gotten through without it. Almost did leave before it was done as it was!

Illi--great when the world works with you and instead of against you!

Muddling--I told Sadie, I think they may be planning a sneak out trip to the stable to chase the horses, though! Oh, my, you should not be having to worry about the cost of the Ibrance. I so wish there was a way to fix that right now.

Gig--Hooray for getting the drain out!Isn't that feeling of freedom wonderful! Was there enough air put in the flat tire to see a difference? Or will that take a few more fills? And a number for the treatment run, you've really got all the details in hand now.OK, measuring on the first drink is allowable. Give you a way to calibrate the eyes for the rest of the drinks! So glad you are feeling good.

Goldie--the day and night went, that's the best that can be said.At least I got an 45 minute nap since they were doing 2 scopes. The only part I wish I could remember I slept through. Figures.Love the Flat Tire DOTD! Except for the pineapple--that golytely prep crap was flavored "pineapple" and it was horrible. Just horrible.

Jazzy--Ah, toes in warm sand, and in January!Good for you! Did you find good smoked fish?

Gig--Hooray for a great feeling day after!May it continue throughout your treatment!

Goldie--great meal you put together! And the Pink Bikini's are so good looking!
