We are going to be Aunties????? How exciting Liezel. I hope that your body can manage the pregnancy well. Eat brownies!

Maxine,  gosh I hope they figure this out. I assume that you are uncomfortable which isn't a good thing. At least they are taking it seriously....

Nicole and Leanne, thinking of the two of you often.

No news here. [Which is good.] Be well.... *susan*

Do you take Femara now or nothing at all?

    Hi Susan,

no news is good news, I second that too

    Hugs all around

Got to get DD from School, I'll be back ;-)

Hey, the September Aunties - love it.  Plenty of updates on your bump please Liezel.

Hi Maxine xx - great to hear from you but sorry to read you are still struggling - have you noticed any change since stopping Arimidex?  I still struggle with aches and pains from this but nothing I can't cope with.  Calico, I would also like to thank for contacting Maxine.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx to you all.

    Liezel,

that is the best news I have heard in ages, I am so happy for you!!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes they are working keep them up!

This weeks blood work come back TM dropped again from 340 to 280 so still kicking cancer A$$!!

I had a bad cough for the last two weeks and could go to work last week thought it had turned from a dry cough to a chest infection so went and saw G.P and got antibiotics on Mon to see ONC friday. Anyway up all night bloody coughing sleeping all day. Saw Onc said maybe its from fluid in chest again. (I didn't think so) but they did a chest Xray and then drained 1.5 litres out!!

    Soooo much better now!

School holidays starting today so I have two weeks off too. Loving it. plenty of R & R.

    Love to all

    Nicole,

Soooooo good to see you post about your TM's!!!!

The cough is a bummer as is the fluid!!! Hope you get a good rest and enjoy the family.

You are such a tough cookie if I may say so, working and managing treatment and family!! I really admire your strength!!

    Sandra,

September aunties LOL I like that, has a ring to it.

I am seeing a new PS in two weeks to see if a change would make a difference, albeit dread the thought of surgery.

Still feel the aftermath of the laparoscopy, pain in upper abdomen (guess the nerv?) but have a liver scan coming up to check on the 'thingy', so pain is really unsettleing right now....ya know....what if comes up.....cheeech....

I am ready to get the scary stuff out for Halloween, can't be scary enough (except when I am home alone lol.....see me chicken shiver, ha!!!)

Hugs, girls, keep posting ;) You are always in my prayers!!!

Love the pic Nicole!!  Such good news about your TM's!!  Hang in there - think of you all the time...

Leanne, see on facebook you had surgery again.  Hope you are recovering nicely, let us know when you get results.

I am well.  Told Connor about the pregnancy and he is SOOOO happy!  Taking his job as big brother very serious, and tells everybody he knows (and doesn't) about the pregnancy!  I am so lucky to be experiencing this...

Just the normal morning sickness.  When it gets bad, I just remind myself that the last time I was this nauseas I had no hair!  This really stops me feeling sorry for myself very quickly!  I continue going to gym every day and keeping an eye on my diet, so I really have nothing to complain about!

Lots of love to all of you.  I don't think we are Aunties!  I would say we are the September Divas!  You ladies sure are the strongest, most amazing women I have ever met!  Nothing gets us down!

    Liezel that is wonderful news!!!!!!!

I have been a little under the weather.... we think with the H1N1 virus. One of my husbands employees had it about a week ago. They gave us tamiflu "just in case" and I am glad they did because I only ran a fever for about 12 hours. I felt bad for about 36.... not to bad. I didn't have all the other side effects. I am still planning on riding this sat..... Anyone want to be on my list of names I will carry with me??????

    Tina

ps you can go to www.mammajammride.org and search by participant tina qualls. You might have to actually copy and paste the link instead of clicking it.

    Hi all

Firstly a HUUUGE congratulations to Liezel on your pregnancy!! That is fantastic news and I am so pleased Conner is enjoying his new role.

Nicole what awesome news about your tm's. Keep knocking them out of the ball park girl.

I had my margin revision surgery on Monday and thankfully they have came back with clear margins this time. Unfotunately though the original advice I was given by another oncologist when mine was away, was incorrect and I actuallly DO have to have chemo. I will be having weekly taxol for 12 weeks followed by 12 months herceptin then rads. In 2 days (Friday) I will be back in surgery for my port to go back in. I am pretty down about it all as it has come as a shock after speaking to the other onc who reassured me we would't be going down this path.

Anyway, that is where I am at at the moment!

Love to you all as always

    xxxx

My daughter has gone off to do the Inca Trail today following on to do the Amazon - wow!  We are decorating her bedroom whilst she is gone.

    September Aunties!

Sounds great! Congratulations Liezel! What wonderful news! Best of luck to you and your family on this exciting journey.

Leanne, Hang in there! We know you're a fighter and you can conquer this yet again!

    Nicole, Your news is encouraging.

Maxine, You have been suffering for too long. I hope you find relief soon.

I had no overt reactions to Arimidex, but it seems as though my bone loss is accelerating at such a rapid pace (10% in a year from a bone scan of my spine) that my doctor wants to give me an infusion of Zometa to combat osteoperosis.

Susan, No news is good news as far as I'm concerned. How's your daughter doing?

Sandra, I hope we'll hear about some of your daughters adventures on the Amazon. How exciting!

Calico, I hope you have a positive outcome from your scans. How's your daughter doing?

Tina, I guess you were riding while I was walking! I hope you had a great time. I completed 39.3 miles, walking around NYC for the Avon Walk.  For those of you not on Facebook yet, here is a link to my photos.

I'll be walking again this coming weekend for the American Cancer Society "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" with my daughters.

There seem to be so many caring, supportive people out there. I think it's about time somebody found a cure for this disgusting disease!

    Be well, September SisterS!

Thanks Peggy - did the dog make the whole of the walk?  How long did it take you Peggy?

Hope this weekend's walk goes as well.

     Tina, where are you?

One of my work colleagues has been diagnosed - results in 2 weeks for treatment plan - disgusting as you rightly say Peggy.

    Hi girls,

good to see you Peggy, glad you are doing well. Zometa is getting more and more good news, benefits like preventing most mets, not just bone mets. Lose teeth could be a result of bone density loss too I think. Hope it helps. I am looking into it myself on my next onc visit.

So far my scans are okay but I haven't sheduled my liver scan yet.

My daughter is doing great, thank you for asking...a slight limp when she is tired, so far so good, taking calcium and vit D for bone strength

You go girl walking for the cure!!!!

    Leanne,

best wishes for chemo, you are a strong lady, I will pray for you.

    Sandra,

the amazon?? Gosh, what an adventure, you must be proud of DD!!!!

    Nicole,

nice picture!! Hope you continue to do well!!!

    Tina,

    hope you are okay

    Liezel,

hope the morning sickness is not to much, have you had an ultrasound yet? They are so cool.

Halloween is around the corner, we'll decorate today. With the winds and weather patterns we waited this year so it still looks pretty on Halloween. I love autum, the leaves, tea and cookies.....earthy smells but I miss my humming birds ;)

As I sit here I am finding I am almost at a loss for words. My friend sarah whom I ride with (and her husband also), was just diagnosed with a reocurrance. She is 30. she just passed her 5 year mark last july. It has reocurred in her pectoral muscle....thats all I know at this point.

WIthout her husband and her encouragement I would have never biked the miles i have biked. Please keep her in your prayers as we find out what the next steps will be.

It is Halloween here not doing anything special for this occasion really - added a few spiders to the house here and there - grandson's are dressing up with mummy and daddy.

I am taking grandson to see good old Pinnochio performed by a local theatrical group this afternoon - should be fun ;-)

Started Christmas shopping yesterday - such an expensive time of year - am I moaning? (just a little).

Thinking of you all as ever.

    Hi all,

Just checking in, saw Onc Friday TM's only dropped 5 points this cycle so very disappointing. Pleural Effusion (fluid) still giving me my only symptom and becoming a pain in the A$$ so I am off to Sydney on Wed to see Dr at RPA hospital about getting pluradesis (spelling) done. This should perm stop the fluid build up.

I have chatted with others on the boards who have had this done and they find it to be of great benefit. So no more chemo till they do this then we will be looking at changing drugs. Not sure to what yet.

We purchased a new ride for our amusement business and are loving it. It's a cup and saucer ride our kids think we are the coolest parents around!

Other than that all is good.

    Love to all

    Hi all,

Saw the Dr in Sydney and am off next week for the procedure. Work commitments mean my DH can't come but my Sister is in Sydney and she will come look after me.

I had to get chest drained again on Friday, they got 1 litre out again and that should be the last time thanks to the new op.

Other than that doing well, it is pouring with rain here at the moment and we have been washed out of a couple of jobs with the rides but a nice day to stay home and do nothing.

    Love to all

    Nicole,

You are in our prayers daily. I am so glad they are going to get this fluid issue under control soon!!! Here is to a continued recovery!

My friend Sarah has been through a lot the last couple weeks. They didn't get clean enough margins so had to go back in last thursay.  She got the results of her PET scan and it has not spread. She goes tomorrow to find out what they are going to do with her treatment plan.

Things with me are going along.... road 35 miles last sat.

    Nicole,

    thinking of you!!

    did you have it done??

    You mentioned changing drugs

Good that you can take breaks thanks to the weather ;)

It is lovely here in Colorado right now, blue skies, low humidity....autum the way I like it!

    Good going Tina,

glad your friend is having good scans with all the scare!!

    35 miles? Wow Tina!

I am doing my trail but not a lot of running due to my hip not liking it, as long as I do lots of miles it should be good for me too.

DD is doing the College application stuff, that is a lot of work. I miss my 'brain', I read everything twice and then some

Hope all of you are well, thinking about you guys.

    Prayers!!

Just the same around here. Business is down, so I am trying to spend some time learning a new programming language. The KID loves her job, but still finds time to come by often. She clearly loves our washing machine.

I am helping my cousin start a business, and she is consuming many hours and it can be frustrating. Always have to remember how much I like her.

Small Thanksgiving this year. Just about 8 folks at the table. I am considering changing the menu since I can spend more time on individual elements. What are you all serving [well, the USA folks] this year?

Nicole, each post is so important to me. thank you so much for keeping us informed. I look for your posts, and yea, that ride sounds brilliant!

    Hi Everybody!

Tina, so sorry to hear about your friend.

Nicole, how did the surgery go?  Hope this sorts out the fluid problem now!  Also love the ride!

I am well.  I lost the baby week before last at 9 weeks.  We were devastated and it took me a while to recover, but I am much better now.  I did not have any warning signs, still had morning sickness (still do).  Went in for my first scan and there was no heartbeat.  The placenta had developed nicely, but nothing else.  The culprit apparently was the quality of the egg. They are not speculating as to whether it is the chemo or my age, but I prefer to blame the chemo - I don't feel old!  So I had a D&C and cycle should be back to normal in about 2 weeks.  We will continue trying, but won't get too excited next time until we have a positive scan.  The paind it caused everybody was just not worth it.....

I hope you are all well.  Summer seems to have reached us at last, although the last week was cold and miserable - suited my mood.  Hopefully we can christen our new pool this coming weekend.

    Keep well everybody!

    lizel,

sorry to hear about the baby. I know you are going through a very trying time right now but it to shall pass.

I am having kind of another crisis....my daughter Naomi is 19 and she called me up last week and said she went to her dermatoligist because of a "rash"on her breast. (as you all know I have had IBC) It has not gone away and has some of the same symptoms I had. The dermatologist said he is going to do a biopsy the first week of dec if it is not completly healed. She is being monitored close but I am very scared and she is 2300 miles away! I  just want to hug her and tell her it will be ok and that I am there for her but I just cannot go..... I have no time on the books from work and I must keep this job due to the health benefits (for myself, Naomi and my husband with his illness).

Please keep Naomi in your prayers because I know we as a group have very strong power.....

    Love tina
