I was 57 when diagnosed. My body sent me a big danger alert by sending a discharge gushing from the affected breast. It continued every day until I made an appointment to have it checked out. BTW, I'm 59 now and feeling fine!

Hi joyce anne, I was dx at 57, in April. Now 6 wks postop from bilat mast w/expander & alloderm recon. Had no warning signs. I had underarm pain on both sides and saw family dr, who rec. ultrasound, resulting in addl mamo, resulting in biopsy where they said I had DCIS in RB. Opted for bilat, so I would have a matched set, and not have to worry about my LB. As it was, the LB was fine, but I do not regret my decison at all. My prev mamo was just a few months before dx. Funny thing is, they never found out what caused the underarm pain, but for me it was a good thing, as cancer would not have been discovered till much later!

I was 55 when I was diagnosed. Found a lump that felt pea size and ended up being a spiculated 3cm tumor. Also was multifocal - 3 areas in the breast. ER/PR negative. Her2+, BRCA 2 positive. Bilateral mastectomy with implants and removal of ovaries. 8 rounds of dose dense chemo. 12 rounds of herceptin. Its been 3 years now and Im doing good.

I was 60. Had a pain in my left breast in the middle of the night and was afraid it was my heart so went to doctor, who sent me for a mammogram where a 5cm mass and questionable nodes were found. Although the mass was large, it was never felt by myself or any doctor that examined me. Oncologist thinks it has been there for many years since I kept putting off getting a mammogram for too many years. Currently in the middle of AC then another 4 treatments of another chemo, then radiation and so on.
