Favor to ask for Chemosabi
My dear friend Nicki aka Chemosabi is in the hospital. She is having a thorentesis today ... as well as the first of 10 WBR treatments. She found out yesterday while in the hospital she has numerous brain mets.
I was hoping some gals who have had WBR could post some encouragement for her.
Thank you so much,
love,
Bren

Hi Nicki,
I remember you from way back! I don't post much but get sooo much support from this site.
In March I was trying to get into a clinical trial for mets to my lung/hilar nodes and just as a last thought my onc threw in a brain MRI. Much to my surprise, 3 brain mets with scatters throughout. I did 14 WBR. Very few side effects. I just thought it was a drag having to go to the hospital for 14 days in a row...Other than being tired, I did experience nausea after the 3rd one, but a little Decadron helped right away and I was good to go. They did a follow up MRI only 14 days after being done with WBR and then we decided to SRS the 3 lesions that were being buggers. (But really, I don't think we gave the WBR a chance to do it's job). I just had a follow up MRI and things are either gone or shrinking!!!! So I've had both procedures.....if you have any questions girl, feel free to ask!
Hang in there! You can do this!!
Laurie

I have no words of wisdom for brain mets, Nicki, but wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and sending you positive vibes in your next line of treatment.

I am sending her warm thoughts and wishes of peace. I have brain mets, but only had SRS last year not WBR.
Laurie (lifestooshort) is a great example of hope!! We have a buddy on another site who had WBR last year and she is gearing up to go back to her dancing! I always think of the founder of the her2support.org site. She had WBR radiation 10 years ago and is still doing great. I hope your dear friend Nicki can be up and dancing in the near future. xx00xx lisa

Chemosabi also goes by Palominoridesagain.
Dear Chemosabi/Palominoridesagain:
I have had the thoracenthesis and pleurathesis done and know that they are not fun. Good luck... sweetie. As for the brain mets... there is hope as the people above have pointed out. All my best and hope you are online soon.
-
I didn't realize that Palominoridesagain was Chemosabi - I remember her posting as Chemosabi, and didn't realize that she changed her user name.
Healing thoughts and vibes going out for Nicki that she breezes through the WBR and it zaps those mets into oblivion!
-
Nicki, I'm sending you all my best wishes for an easy thoracentesis procedure and an easy WBR. There have been more than a few of us who've gone through it and done well afterwards. You will too! My recent brain mets were discovered and treated with gamma knife. But who knows what the future holds. Gentle hugs and a speedy GET OUT OF HOSPITAL card. Thinking of you and hoping for the best of outcomes! Jeanne

I also didn't know this post was about palaminoridesagain !!
She is her2+ like me. I am on herceptin and tykerb. Tykerb is believed to get up into the BBB (blood brain barrier) and help with brain mets.
Please let her know we are all here for her, and will help with any info. lisa

Though no brain mets here - palaminoridesagain was another of the first that I met when I joined here....please send my very best wishes and hopes for the wappa zappa on the c cells! lowrider

I'm sorry everyone for not putting down "paliminoridesagain." I've known Nicki for 3 1/2 years and she's always been Chemosabi to me.
I'll make sure she sees all your wonderful notes to her. I haven't heard any more today about how the pleural lung procedure or the WBR went. I believe this is her 4th or 5th thoratensesis (sp).
Thank you all for sending her your love and good wishes,
Bren

Nicki is still in the hospital with numerous IV's. Today is her second WBR. And a pneumothorax was discovered ... so she's pretty darn sick.
