I'm not sure where else to put this.

I'm 38.. went through menopause.. menses came back with a vengeance.

Dr. says I have a 95% risk for ovarian cancer.

Need ovaries out asap.

any thoughts?

My bc diagnosis and background is different than you.  However, I just wanted to say the laproscopic procedure is very doable with minimal invasion and fast recovery for me.  I was premenopause (age 49) and then went into chemopause but in my case did not want to take Lupron shots etc.  I felt this was my way of aggressively attacking my strong hormone receptor positve bc - -  starve the beast.

I'll just ditto what cp said.  I was also premenopausal, went into chemopause and then my period came back.  Onc wanted to give me Lupron, but I wasn't buying.  I had a huge endometriosis on one ovary anyway.  So, I opted for the bilateral ooph.  It was a laparascopic outpatient procedure.  I wouldn't say I was doing cartwheels the next day, but definitely recovered fully in 2-3 weeks.  The hotflashes and sleepless nights, however, continue ...

Just curious where your doc came up with a 95% chance of ovarian cancer?  I haven't heard of that high a risk even with BRCA+.  I do know that isn't something I could live with ... especially since all efforts at improving screening for ovarian cancer have so far failed to lower the stage at which most are discovered.

Best wishes to you in your decision.
