For the last four days I have had the feeling of a huge gas bubble in my lower abdomen.  It even hurts when I walk!  I thought maybe my diet was out of whack, so I started eating extra vegetables and fruit two days ago, but nothing has improved.  It's only gotten worse.

I have taken Gas-X, Prilosec, Alka Seltzer, but can't find relief.  I have had some diahrea, but the pain is horrible.  My stomach is incredibly bloated and I'm miserable.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

D, sorry you are in pain. You know, none of us here is a doctor and there are many things that can cause you to have gas. Could be food, IBS, Lactose intolerance, stress, the list goes on. Just go to the doctor and let them see what's wrong. And don't eat too many veges or fruit. While they have benefits but at the same time, they can be high in fiber and fiber can lead to the formation of gas. Try eating small, frequent meals that are easy to digest and get yourself seen by your GP as soon as you can, OK?

    Thinking of you dear.

    Donna-

You say you've had diarrhea but have you also had bouts of intermittent constipation?  I'm wondering if you could have Diverticulosis? With Diverticular disease you can have both.   Have you tried Miralax?

Maybe a visit to the gastroenterologist is in order.

    Hope you get relief soon.

    Thanks, Fumi and Susie -

I have started to feel some relief in the last 24 hours, but I definitely have an issue that I need to get under control!

I am going to increase my fiber and watch my diet closely to try and identify the cause of this in the future.   The last several days were miserable :(

    Hi,

It took several months for me to recover from chemo, maybe a whole year. So I decided to eat as if I had IBS even though I didn't know if I had it or not. I got the book and it was like magic. The whole concept of soluble fiber vs non-soluble was very effective(basically oatmeal first thing in the morning settles the stomach) and then I just followed  all the other advice, also some of the recipes are really quite good. Now 3 yrs later anytime my stomach goes crazy I go back to the IBS way of eating.

Worked for me, maybe it'll work for you. Good Luck.
