Hi ladies, sorry I haven't been keeping in touch. LIfe has gotten crazy. Between Tom's Heart attack and everything else, life has been insane lately.

Wanted to let you all know what's going on with me. I had some tests done because of the continuing pain on my left side. Well, three spots showed up on my liver. The PA said they are very, very small, but they want to do a PET scan to make sure they aren't a reoccurance.

Just thought I'd let you all know. Of course, I'm worried, but you know, if anything, this cancer has taught me that life goes on. So I'll let you all know when I have my PET scan.

Hope this finds you all well and very busy, I miss talking to everybody.

    Hey Gracie!

I'm still here too!  Have you had a PET scan before?  I've had a couple - no big deal.  Wear comfortable clothes.  They inject you with "stuff", you rest in a reclining chair for up to an hour and then you lay on the table and they do the scan.  They do let you go to the bathroom before and after you rest....................... This was my experience both times.

    I'll be thinking about you!!

Thanks, Dawn :) Yeah, I've had two so far, one right before treatment, and one after treatment in October. Hopefully this one will show no change at all, and then I'll be off and running again :)

How are you doing? I hope things are going well for you?

    Blessings,

    Gracie

    Hey Gracie!

I sure hope there are no changes on this next scan for you.  When is it scheduled for?

Things are going fairly well.  I should find out on Monday what my thyroid and cholesterol levels are.  I feel pretty good and my energy level is up, face less puffy, have lost about 7 pounds in the past month - so it seems there must be improvement at least!  My oldest son graduates from the Art Institute this coming week and my youngest son graduates from high school as well.  We are having a picnic for them next Saturday.  We are under construction (redoing the kitchen - including the drywall!) so it's a little crazy but, oh well, hopefully the weather will be good and we can all be on the deck!!  Several family birthdays this month, fathers day, relatives coming in for stuff - just crazy.  It'll be fun though. I have to set up follow-up scans and appts for July but the only medical thing this month will be my herceptin on the 20th.

My mom is on her second chemo - Xeloda.  She'll have a ct scan in mid July to see if there is more progression in her liver as well.  I'm not sure what the onc will suggest if there is but mom is feeling well and has no intention of giving in to this metastatic bile duct cancer anytime soon!

Enough typing!!  Let me know about your scan Gracie!!  I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and saying a prayer!

Hi, Dawn, Sorry I haven't gotten back to this until now.

Am so glad you are doing a bit better. Sounds like you had a big weekend though and by this morning, might be a little tired ;) Hope you get good news today. Will be thinking of you.

Hope your mom is doing well, and that the chemo is doing what it's supposed to be doing.

I wish we were under construction for our kitchen. I've hated it for years, too small, not enough storage space, need new appliances. But it looks like I'm going to have to live with it, Tom had a heart attack about 8 weeks ago, and he's going to take his retirement, which means we will be on a fixed income. He will still work part time, he's taking early retirement at 55, so hopefully he can find something part time to keep us in the black instead of in the red. I'm going to lose his good insurance, but have medicare because of my lupus. So, now I've got to find a secondary, and get something to help pay for my drugs. He'll still have his coverage and drug coverage, but they won't continue to cover me, as I have Medicare. Sigh.

Anyway, let us know today how things go today, will be keeping you in my prayers.

    Gracie,

It's been a LONG 8 weeks for you and Tom.  My dad recently retired from the post office and got a part time out at Fedex at Dulles Airport.  He loves it but the hours are weird - graveyard like shifts.  He likes only working 5 days a week however after YEARS of 6 days a week.  Hopefully Tom will find something he likes quickly.

Insurance sure is a pain in the butt.  I'm hoping you can find coverage easily with low cost!

The graduations are this week and the party this Saturday.  We've spent the past couple of days straightening - the kitchen will wait!!  We are all tired but excited with so much going on.  We've been in this house for almost 21 years and have done a lot to the house and yard but waited for the kitchen.  I want to use it for a couple years before we decide to sell it and downsize since all my kids will be out by then.

I saw on another post that your PET scan is today!  I'll be thinking about you!  I believe the report gets to the requesting dr within 24 to 48 hours.  Do you need to see the dr for the report or will they tell you over the phone?  I think you should call them so you can find out by the end of the week.  The wait drives me crazy!!  I'm still waiting for my blood report, but I'm not very worried about it.

Hope you have a good day!!

Dawn, yeah, it's at 1:30 PM this after non, it's about 11:39 right now. I hope they will tell me over the phone. I sure don't want to wait.

I was going to text you today to see if you got your reports back. Let me know when you hear.

Sounds like you have a really long weekend, but a good one, planned. Weekends like this are such a blessing :) My kids have been gone a while now, about 10 years, and I've gotten used to not having them here now. It took a while though. the house was too quiet for a long time.

Anyway, got to finish drinking all of this water...ugh....I'll check back on this afternoon late and see if you've heard anything.

God Bless, and my prayers are with you,

    Gracie

Yeah Gracie!! I just saw you posted you are NED!!  woo hoo!!

Did they say anything about the pains and what might be causing them?

I typed a whole bunch and lost it............................  Long story short - wonderful week - both boys graduated - picnic went well and then had a picnic for Father's Day as well!  My house is a wreck!  My father-in-law thought it was hilarious watching me make all the side dishes and desserts - going from room to room collecting ingredients and dishes since my kitchen "supplies" are scattered about with the remodeling.  I know I got LOTS of steps in this past week!!

My blood-work showed my thryroid at 2.7 - within normal range!!  YEAH!! much better than 128!  My cholesterol is better as well.  My liver function is still above normal along with my triglycerides - wondering if they will want me to start a drug to lower them which would help my fatty liver.  Guess we'll see.

    Keep in touch!

Hi my chemo sisters! I was just thinking of you all , and wondering how everyone is doing. I'm doing good. Can't seem to lose any weight! But can't say I'm trying that hard either!lol I see my onc every three months. My next appt. is Aug. 28th. I still get nervous , especially when I go into the cancer center. I start to wonder if I will be back there again. I am taking tamoxifen  and effexor for the hot flashes. I still get hot flashes and wonder if it is doing any good. Its been really hot and humid here in Ohio. My best-friend and her hubby gave me a pool for my birthday!!!! So I am enjoying it to the max everyday. Well I hope you all are having a great summer. And I hope everyone is doing well and not having any set backs. And if you are , you are in my prayers and I wish the best for you all. Hugs , Melody

Melody, so nice to see your post.  We are having a really nice summer out here in the northwest.  I often think back to last summer that passed in a blur with chemo treatments and feeling awful.  I am so happy to be here and able to enjoy my life.  I try not to think about recurrence too much but take it a day at a time.

I do travel to the east coast on my job and really suffer in the humidity.  I am on arimidex which causes some hot flashes but not too often and not too unbearable luckily.  You are lucky to have the pool to cool off in; that sounds wonderful!

Take care and hugs to everyone!

Just wanted to check and see if any of the June 2007 sisters were still active on the board?  Think of you all often, and wonder how everyone is and how their lives are going.

     Let me know.

     Blessings,

    Gracie
