What is the most drastic thing you've ever done for a loved one whom was dx with BC?

Or, What is the most drastic things a loved one has done to/for you to show their support?

    Rayne -

Don't know if this is drastic, but my DH is a little queasy at incisions and needles and such.  Always has been.  I wasn't sure after my bilat that he would be able to help me.  He has NEVER once flinched, backed away or said anything negative since my surgery.  He stripped my drains, changed dressings, looked closely when I was scared I had an infection, looked at the drain site every day to make sure it was clean and most of all kissed me and told me he loved me, I was beautiful and that he just wanted to take the pain and fear away.  He is my own true angel

Oh and I forgot - got my first fill yesterday and he stood right next to me when they put the needle in each breast.  He didn't even look away!

wow...makes me think that even loved ones conquer thier own fears while they embark on the journey along with those dx with BC.
    that's why they've been mentioned as "co-survivors"

You are very correct - we will have a beautiful 20th anniversary this year.

I just thought of it - on the other side, I really wanted my sister with me while I was recovering.  But my oldest brother is being in chemo for rectal cancer and I told her that he needed her more than I would.  It was so hard to not ask her to still come out, but I know my brother needed to have her there as he has no one else to take care of him.  She is an amazing person too.  So I guess I gave up the support of my sister for a while for my brother.

My husband also pulled my drains ..when I was on a/c and was feeling nausous at 3AM he actually got up and made a piece o toast..only thing seemed to help..

there was a point where my bowels were so bad that I actually lost it...I was on the recliner he went out to get for me..well, he cleaned it up..again that night I lost it in bed..he cleaned that up to with no complainning...I was so embarrased

We were together 2 years when I found the lump ...he then quit his very good job but it didn't have medical care...he got another one that would have provided pre-exsisting conditions..we then got married with him knowing this could have been cancer..at that point we didn't know...if it wasn't for him I am not sure where I would be today...by the way ..did I mention he is 17 years younger than I am...

    He too is my angel...

Last year for my birthday my hubby got a Breast cancer ribbon tattoo on his upper arm that has my name above, my wife and my hero under it, and 2007 on the tails of the ribbon and he hates needles. He about passes out when he goes to get blood drawn at the doctor's office.

i love hearing about this stuff.

i'm 14 years younger than Jordana, but everyone in both our families, friends and relatives approve and agree we fit well together.

my mother only calls now to ask "how is Jordana doing"

Rayne - meant to tell you - I LOVE that pic of Tucker in the sink.  One of those awwwwww moments.  What a cutie.  We too don't have kids - my 3 cats keep me busy and keep me company on down days.

He has gotten many 'awwww' comments about it from other truckers he meets on the road when they ask why he has a pink ribbon on his semi and he tells them about myself and my mother (dx in 2001) and shows the tattoo. The tattoo artist, when he found out that my DH was doing it to honor me, he did the tattoo at a reduced rate.

Wow - that is so great - what a nice thing the artist did!  And your husband is a trucker - wow he really is a great guy to put a pink ribbon on.  What a wonderful way to spread the word to a population that might not even think about bc. And maybe they will become more aware of it and help in the fight!   It is a wonderful thing your DH is doing!
