Deb, it is absolutely beautiful.  Are you going to spend time with Mom and Dad during your trip west?  Did you grow up in Oregon?  I would love to have you all come to my house and let me take care of all of you.  Do I hear France calling, Anna????   It sounds like we all need (and deserve) more than one holiday per year.  Tahoe will be so beautiful in September and I can see us going for long walks (or strolls) and talks, punctuated with trips to town for whatever.  Marguerite, this is so wonderful of you.

Odalys, I am curious about Pinkstock--how many usually come to the event?  Is this your first time?  By the way, I fully understand about staying for the benefits and the salary (been there, done that).  But, there is freedom in knowing that when the right thing comes along, you're ready to tell them what to do with the job.

    Mary Lou, where are you?

Beautiful day on the coast-a little muggy, but not bad.  I have a "date" tonight to see the new Batman movie and dinner.  My partner of 7 years and throughout my journey was my friend/ex-love Ron and he is a terrific person.  I asked him to move out a year ago and he finally did in January.  Our communication to date has consisted of a bi-monthly card/dinner party with old friends.  Tonight is the first time that we have gone anywhere together.  I'm so glad that he has accepted the situation so gracefully and equally glad that he remains my very good friend.

    See you all soon.

    Love,

    Nancy

Good evening sisters.  Today is our 14th wedding anniversary.  Wow, it seems like yesterday we were getting married.  I remember how nervous I was.  I thought I was going to have a panic attack.  DH always laughs when he thinks about it becuase he was scared I was going to take off running and not look back.  I was such a nervous wreck.  Looking back, it was the best decision I've ever made.  He is a great man and has been my rock through this journey.

Nancy - this will be my first year attending Pinkstock (if I can get the time off from work). Last year's event was a huge success.  MB hosted the event, she has 4 acres and people drove up with campers, tents, and others stayed at local hotels.  I think there were around 15 bc sisters and their friends and family.  They posted many pics and kept us updated every day via posts, pm's, emails, im's, and phone calls.  It was a huge success.  This year, it's scheduled for Aug 1-3.  Folks come and go during the weekend.  We are planning to drive up on Friday night and stay until Sunday.  Afterwards, we may drive to Niagara Falls and do some sight seeing.  We may even visit our friends in Maryland on our way back.

BTW- anyone live on the East coast?  MaryLou?   I would love to meet you during our trip.

Good night sisters.  Be back mañana.

We are finally having real hot sunshiny weather here. Lots and lots of walks along the ocean. I love the air!

A little "doctors, gotta love 'em" story: I was having a good deal of pain in my thigh, the same side as my hip replacement. When I was back in Virginia in May I went to see the orthopedic surgeon and asked him if maybe that leg might be longer than the other one. He smiled and said, No, it's the same length. What you are experiencing is the bone growing around the prosthesis. I sort of wondered how he could tell whether one leg was longer than the other without really looking at how I walked or anything. Ah well, I said to myself, he must know what he's talking about, after all, he's the hip replacement star in the Washington, DC area.

So the pain just kept up and one of my French friends told me I should go to see her podiatrist, which I did. He put me on a little platform that was hooked up to a computer and that showed a three-dimensional picture of how my feet sit on the ground. He asked me if I had had an x-ray of my pelvis in a standing position after the hip surgery, something that is standard in France. I said no, just x-rays of my hips in a prone position. He said he could tell with the naked eye (remember, we're in France) that my surgery side leg was 4 to 6 mms longer than the other one. He's sending me for an x-ray. He made me some temporary shoe inserts and I already notice a difference. Fewer spasms in that thigh. He also explained that whenever a person has severe arthritis in just one hip and nothing in the other that is an indication that the arthritis-side leg is shorther than the other one and that it has become damaged through overuse. So my leg probably went from being a few mms shorter to being a few mms longer. It wouldn't be surprising at all for my poor thigh muscles to be having fits!

Anyway, I am on the mend and walking with delight.

A little mystery story: do you know what a Dolmen is? Like at Stonehenge? A mysterious formation made of large stones, usually in a circle, probably having something to do with the Solstice and with the sun shining in through passages and such. Well, Brittany is of course a Celtic region, and has its own Stonehenge in southern Brittany, in a town called Carnac. There are a few Dolmens around here, sometimes when people build houses they come across buried rock formations and have to incorporate then into their houses or gardens. Our coastline here is part sandy beach, part large boulders. Somebody, maybe one of the tourists in the nearby campgrounds, maybe a group of people renting one of the local cottages, somebody is going around building mini Dolmens along the coast. Every day there is a new one, and I am loving looking for them and photographing them. Now if I could figure out how to post pictures here I would totally bore my dear sisters with all the photos I am taking. I have a new camera and the card keeps going. I used to have to stop at 256 pictures, now I must be up to at least twice that number and I am still shooting.

It would be fun seeing photos of Tahoe, Pinkstock, all the places we are. I wish the new Batman movie was playing here. We have the house full of painters, so I probably couldn't go anyway. They should be finished by the end of the week.

Love to all of you, Anna

Hey Odalys!  Happy HAPPY Wedding Anniversary to you!

What a special time for you!  I am quite sure that every anniversary for us will be a mixture of emotions-happiness and gratitude for being alive.  I wanted to wish you a blessed anniversary before it was too late!

Daniel is doing so well.  He amazes me.  I have to laugh-every single person who sees us stops in shock, and says, "Oh NO, what happened to your arm?!?!"  Daniel just looks at them like their nuts, and says, "What?"

I took him for a haircut today and we went to lunch at Panera as a treat afterwards.  They don't have large trays there, just giant "plates" because they apparently expect toddlers to carry their food and drink on their own.

Daniel was walking along behind me, and his shoe fell off (happens all the time when I am naughty and don't put on his orthotic).  Every single person in that corner of the restaurant stopped what they were doing when they saw "the boy with the cast" and his Mommy standing there juggling two mega-plates and two drinks.  We had about 3 people run to our rescue to put on his shoe and help us to a table.

Good to know that kind people still exist!
    Love and prayers, Deb

Anna try the HTML code on photobucket, just click it and it will say copied and then come here and click  the Paste as Plain Text at the top ,  left from the tree icon. That may work.....it is what I use. Did it by accident Surprised

Also you can search for things to send. Like for Odalys below.

Here is a little something I wanted to share. Comments made in the year 1955! That's only 53 years ago! 'I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20.00.' 'Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $2,000.00 will only buy a used one.' 'If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous. 'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?' 'If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.' 'When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.' 'Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls.' 'Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President.' 'I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now.' 'It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet.' 'It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work.' 'Marriage doesn't mean a thing any more, those Hollywood stars seem to be getting divorced at the drop of a hat.' 'I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business.' 'Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to congress.' 'The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.' 'There is no sense going to Lincoln or Omaha anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel.' 'No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $35.00 a day in the hospital it's too rich for my blood.' 'If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it.'

Hey ladies, I haven't ruled out the possibility of meeting you guys in Reno.  Pinkstock is up in the air because I haven't been able to get the time off from work.  If I don't make it to Pinkstock I would love to meet you guys in Remo.  OMG, I just checked out airfair from Miami to Reno and the cheapest is $521 with one stop.  Yikes...I'll keep looking.

Airfare is crazy, isn't it.  Tickets from SD went all the way to $562, 5 1/2 hours, and I'm just around the corner.  You might try kayak.com which checks most of the low cost providers and gives you a comparison.  I'm good with either city as soon as I know what will work for all of you.

Odalys, it would be such fun if you joined us.  I hope you had a wonderful anniversary--you have certainly weathered some Category 5 storms together.  I wish you 50 more filled with health and happiness.

Today on "Today" they were talking about the ultimate pedicure.  It involves putting your feet in a pool full of tiny carp that eat the dead skin.  How disgusing does that sound, but apparently it is the rage.

Two years ago I had a colonoscopy and they found a couple of polyps but could not see all of the colon.  At my physical last month, PCP ask why I had not had another one and I had no answer.  So I called the surgeon to ask about followup and the call back was to schedule a "procedure".  I hated the last "procedure" but I guess we have no choice, right.

I've been doing water aerobics for a while now, but decided to "kick it up a notch" and join a 12-week strengthening program.  I want to increase my stamina and losing a few pounds would be a real bonus.  (I lost a 6-7 pounds during chemo and today weigh 10 more than when I started chemo.) Today was my first workout and I'm pooped.  What are you guys doing for exercise? Are you still fatigued?  Margerie, are naps allowed at the cabin?

Right now, I am up for some Tylenol and early bed.

    Love to all,

    Nancy

Okay, that was a rehearsal. I couldn't do it your way, Odalys, I kept coming up blank. This was your way, Mary Lou. Now how do I get the picture down to a manageable size? I don't want to take up the whole page like this.

That is my little grandson, on day six. He's already seven weeks old!

I won't be back in the U.S. in time to come to the gathering! Please PM me to keep me in the loop all the same. Please.

Nancy, I was doing soft impact aerobics three times a week, but then I hurt my knee and ended up having surgery for my hip. We go walking every day, usually twice, sometimes three times. I figure we go 3 - 5 miles a day. Twice a week we go for a longer walk and end up carrying little dog home. I plan on going back to my exercise class when we get back in October. We did 30 mins aerobics, 30 mins weights and 30 mins stretching. I loved it!

I'll have to wait a few days to download my Dolmen photos. The painters have piled all the furniture in my studio and I can't get to the drawer where I keep my USB cable to hook my camera up to the computer.

Love to all, and any tips on reducing photo size would be very welcome.

What a wonderful group of messages and the pix.  Anna, he is incredible and beautiful and like Deb, I love the hands behind the head.  I can see that pose in years to come.. .now what does my body language say about that?   I know it must be so hard not to see him every day, smell his neck, taste his toes, pat his bare behind, etc.  (I suppose you could use hubbie as a surrogate, but probably not the same sensation.)  Isn't it wonderful to be at the beginning of life--you wonder what choices are ahead of him and what kind of world he will live in.  My grand nephew was born on Sunday and I can't wait to hold his fat self (9#10oz at birth).

Mary Lou, what's this about a new job.  Would you relocate?  We have so much catching up to do and I just can't wait.

Has anyone made flight reservations yet?

I copied all the techno babble from Mary Lou and Odalys--that's how it seems to me.  But, thanks to you and Anna success, I am going to attempt to see you something soon to try it out.  I don't have an incredible new grandson, but let me see what I can find.

    Nap time.  Back later.

    Nancy
