Hi, i am new to this IBC Forum, was used to go to Recurrence and Mets Disease Forum. My mom got stage4 BC mets liver and bones in China, her liver tumours has shunk after the latest chemo, but recently the little lumps on her chest are spreading rapidly, from right breast toward left breast, now is going all over her ribs, the lumps start very small then grow bigger and the skin color turns red then purple. the lumps are very hard and painful, they stick to her bones. Before her onc was trying to give radiation on her chest to control them but he cannot find a right position to avoid damaging her lungs, so finally failed and just using chemos. Now my mom is so worried and believes these little lumps is killing her one day.
Because i am an oversea student in uk and my visa is end of this month so i posted my passport to home office for visa extention, it takes at least 2-3weeks to come back. My mom told me today she was getting annoyed with it, she wanted me to go back asap before she dies. I am so upset even i know she is on her chemos and getting depressed very often.
Please help! Anyone experienced these little lumps? any idea how to treat them?? I know nothing about IBC, ladies in Recurence and mets forum suggest me to come here.

Yue - Sending you & your mother boat loads of strength to fight the fight!! Like everyone else, we here read a lot and maybe can offer some addtn'l resources to you. I don't have skin mets, but have spent a lot of time reading all about IBC and trying to stay current. There is a skin mets website I'm hoping someone else will remember the address of?? {{{ Help everyone}}} Also, try www.ibcsupport.com and do a search on skin mets. That will give you a long list of postings from IBCers facing what your Mom is dealing with right now. There were some postings on skin mets here a bit ago, have you done a general search on these discussion boards?? Have you tried www.eraseibc.com? Patti B at the foundation is good at networking to find resources here in this country and has the contacts to maybe help you internationally as well. You can ask for more help there through the guestbook page. I'm sure others will have more ideas. Stay strong for yourself and your mother. We all walk beside you! ~Squeaker

Hi and sending much love and hugs to you and your mom.
I have skin mets currently on my chest, down my ribs and along my stomach. I have read that the skin mets will not kill you and that they are hard to get rid of. You may find a chemo to shrink them down or disappear for a few months, but they always return. There is a cream called Miltex some women have tried, it works for a few months and then the skin mets return. I have not heard of anyone getting rid of skin mets forever. Tell your mom not to worry too much about them, there is not much to be done. I had radiation at one point to burn off about 25 lumps, it worked in burning them off for about one year, now they are back. They are annoying, but what can we do at this point? Mine are not painful, as you mentioned your mother's are. I am sorry to hear about her pain. I wish I had better advise to give you. I hope her doctors can help her.
Good Luck,
Lauralynne

- When I was dx I had cancer in my skin, however that skin was removed when I had my mast. and then I had some kick butt radiation to a huge area, to try to prevent the little buggers from coming back. Well, they're back. Started out as little white bumps, now the little white bumps are bigger, and there are new little bumps starting to form. The fair smooth area along my mast. scar is now expanding and the area is thickening again, and it fluctuate between red and purple in color. They are sore, tender to the touch, and itch like crazy.
- This has been progressing quite rapidly over the last 3 weeks. I know it is time for me to go back on Taxol again, but I am just not ready. I am trying to put it off, but now with this skin thing happening, I don't know what kind of treatment timetable I will be on.
- I find that aloe vera gel gives me some relief from the burning stinging, itching. Only a tiny bit though. I will be talking to my doctor about this on Tuesday, and then I will share what he recommends for treating skin mets.
- Best of luck, and I hope your mom (AND ME!) can get these skin mets under control.
