Start AC in 2 weeks

I seen the Oncologist Monday, finally path report showed more CA than what was detected. I am not telling my adult sons. The breast is gone so I don't see a need to scare them. She does not feel I need to do radiation. I will get a 2nd opinton.

I have to admit I am nervous about starting chemo. I am also getting a compression sleeve, the doctor thought my arm was a little puffy.

She gave some Neurontins for the nerve pain and really is helping.

I am sure once Chemo starts I will be asking questions.

Hope everyone is ok.

Huggs

Toni

Hi Toni, I found the most stressful time (other than the beginning diagnosis) the time I was scheduled to get chemo - not knowing what to expect, hair loss, ect.  I found that when I read the message boards about chemo, everyone experiences diff. reactions.  I was ofcourse wondering which one I'd fit into! Remember, there are so many drugs to now combat side-effects so please dont be afraid to ask your dr. if you experience side-effects. I experienced a few things each week- and diff. ones!  and felt like they thought I was making it up because I kept asking for help every week.  Im glad I did and was pushy about it, because its the only way you get them to help you - dont be afraid to ask ok? You know how you feel - not them.  I was pushy and it worked. Made the experience much better.  I was on AC and then Taxol/abraxane and herpecin and I found the AC very fatiguing for me. The other chemo went almost side-effect free, but the AC I needed to rest a lot - if you have children, make sure you tell your caretakers that you need help - set it up in advance - so they know what to expect. I also found my hair to be falling out (could tell in the shower drain!) around day 12. I decided to shave my head on day 14 - when I pull, a lot would come out so that made my decision.  I also found scarves the most cool during the summer. I hope it goes well for you!!! Good luck to you.

    Best,

    Heidi

Did A/C from Dec to Feb of this year.  Hoping it goes well.  Above all else....stay well hydrated.  Drink a bottle of water every couple hours the day before, day of treatment and day after at the least, then keep hydrated throughout.  IT's hard on your system, but staying hydrated will help alleviate a lot of symptoms!  When is your start date?
