Please pray for our SOLDIERS!!!!
I am sure many of you have been watching the news or hearing of the ever increasing violence in Iraq and Afghanistan. No matter whether you agree with this war or not please stop each day to say a prayer for all the young men and women fighting over there to support their country! I know I worry for my son daily and he should have died in a roadside bomb incident two weeks ago but didn't make it back to his target point in time to be in that vehicle. Some other young soldier took my sons place and died for him. This just brings me to tears to realize how close I was to lose my son but how awful for the family who did lose their son in my sons place! Things in our world are just so out of control and I don't want anyone to forget all the sacrifices these men and women are making.
One other note, anyone who sends care packages to loved ones over there PAINT BRUSHES (smaller ones) and a commodity. They need those to clean sand out of the weapons and go through them rapidly, so any box or package you send throw in a small paint brush or two, it will really be appreciated!

All you say is true, Luann. I am sorry for all involved.Today mars another day for our troups. Nine soldiers died in Afghanistan. In spite of our country's divergent range of views on the warfront, prayers for safety of our troops will continue.Tender

One of my closest friends, husband is in Aphganistan, she had a baby girl in Novemeber. He is supposed to be coming home in August. I pray so hard for all the men and women and the families that have lost loved ones and pray that as many soldiers can stay as safe and unharmed as possible. I really wish this war would end and the US and other Countries can soon pull out. It's sad because it's just such a mess over there. I really wish that Bush wouldn't have pushed so hard for war instead of other methods. Now how does it get to point where the Irag people can begin to run their own Country, it's just all so sad and confusing. So I just pray and pray hard and hope an answer will come soon. My heart is with every soldier in the Middle East

I am the proud mother of a US Marine who has served in Iraq, twice. My son has lost several friends. People call me a survivor, but I feel he is more of a survivor than I am. For me, Cancer was a piece of cake compared to what he went, and continues to go, through. Having a child in harms way is a helpless feeling. My continued prayers go out to all our service men and women, who fight to keep our country safe...

Linda, that must have been awful for him to go twice! My son's second baby was born 3 weeks before he could get home so I got to be the coach/helper. Was an awesome experience to watch a child being born(instead of being the one delivering the child...LOL). Anyway, guess I have just been feeling so low lately about him in that terrible situation and the only help and support I can give him is care packages and prayers. Thanks for letting me share and to share your experiences.

LuAnn,
In addition to all the packages my family and I sent to my son, there's an organization called Operation:MOM that sends boxes, too. In the past, I have helped pack hundreds of boxes with these wonderful people. You can check out their web site at www.operationmom.org. If you send them an address, they'll send boxes to a whole group. They also have a message board to connect with other moms. It helped me through some really tough days and weeks. Only another military mom can understand what we go through.
My son was out on patrol one night and for some reason he turned. It was enough so that a bullet went through his shirt and scratched his side on the way past. He said his angel was working overtime that night.
Tell your son thank you for me and give yourself a hug, from me. Hang tough...prayers are answered...

I've often told Erin that what she and her family are going through, that is tough, for me one day this crap will be over the chemo and stuff, but she is still waiting and worrying, I just don't know how anyone can sleep at night with a loved one over seas, I"d be watching CNN like an addict.

LuAnn,
My son has already done a tour in Iraq, and come back safe. He married and had a baby girl, who is now 4months old. He just left two days ago for another tour, this time in Afghanistan. I pray for him and every other soldier every night. Thanks for the information about the paint brushes though, I didn't know that. My prayers will continue.
God Bless you and your family,
Hugs,
Dottie
