Jodi called me. She is tired but okay. She is having radiation on her neck this week. She had it on her hip, spine, breast and chest over the past 4 weeks. She is also still getting chemo every week. She says she tries to save her energy for getting to and from those appointments and for Zoe instead of the computer. Understandable. She wanted me to tell you all thank you for your concern. She misses you and will get back on the board when she can. Zoe is doing great and growing like any 6 month old.

Thank you so much for contacting her, Brenda.

Hello San Diego sisters. I just found all of you last week and was too late to join your today. However, I would love to meet with all of you in the future, if you will tell me when/where. I joined bc.org 10/05 just as I was starting chemo, have been MIA for awhile, and am happy to be back.
Look forward to see you.

Welcome Nancy. I just saw your name the other day and wondered why you have not joined us yet. We have not decided on next month yet. SoCal and I will be out of town during different weeks. I think August 10 or 11 is the only time we will both be in town. What do you say ladies will either of those days work. I would hate for SoCal to miss a month. Heck, I don't think either of us has missed on yet.
-
I'll try and be there. This week has been very trying - my father has been in the emergency room twice, my mother once. I'm coming home Saturday, but will have to go back in a week to get him out of rehab if he gets out. If he doesn't start eating ...
Missed you guys & thanks for the picture Liz. It's not like being there, but it's the next best thing!

Sorry to hear about your parents, Susan. It's so hard when they're not doing well--hope things improve.
-
Have a wonderful time at Pinkstock, Brenda!
-
Hi all, I changed my avatar, as I don't look like that anymore, so I now have Cleo, our new kitty. Brenda, YOU GO GIRL! You are a treasure, and I am so glad you are going to Pinkstock. Can't wait to see the pix. Hugs, Shirlann
-
Hi everyone...
Here I am, finally checking in. Brenda... I'm so jealous. I so wanted to go to pinkstock! Next year!
I'm doing ok. Have been having Rads for about two months now. Started with the left hip and lower spine. Just finished up the upper spine, and have been doing the breast for about 6 weeks. I'm finishing up rads on breast in about two weeks. Hooray.
Had another scan about two weeks ago and discovered that I also have fractured/compress C1 and T1 (neck area). This is in addition to the compressed/fractured T5 (middle back) they found about 6 weeks ago. Been having problems with my neck and shoulder, a lot of pain. Now they have me on some kind of weird nerve pain blocker (also a seizure med) along with steroids and 75 mcg of fentanyl patches. I will admit that I have been driving. But I have built up a tolerance to the fentanyl. I was using a lot of darvocet along with the patches prior to starting the new drug regime and that was why I was limited on my driving. I was pretty loopy to say the least.
I have had some rough weeks with the radiation. Not burning problems as much as just pure fatigue. Especially the days following my chemo. Blah! This last week was a chemo off week and it was SO nice not to feel soooo crappy for a change.
On a different note. Adam and I are moving. We found a nice apartment in Encinitas. It is 5 minutes from Onc/chemo, my parents house, and my church. It's also much closer to Zoeann's school. We accept the keys on the 25th of August but haven't been given a move out date at the house, so we are going to spend time moving. We are going to have the carpets cleaned and paint before moving in. Just to make it more like home. It's a big downsize for us. Going from a 3/2 with a garage to a 2/2 with NO garage and little storage. We'll figure it out.
Well, I'd really like to make the next meet. So I'll try to find time and pop on to check for the time. I sure appreciate getting the email reminders Liz... cause I do tend to check my email at least once every week or two.
Thanks to Brenda for the call. I was feeling down and it lifted me up for sure.
God bless you all ladies. Much love and hugs, Jodi

I saw in today's Union Trib a clinical study at
UCSD for treating bone mets with MRI guided ultra sound
sounds promising...
Jodi..good to hear from you , but so sorry things are so rough for you
are you taking Lyrica for the nerve pain?? I am for neuropathy, and
it is so much better for me than neurontin...good to move closer to
treatments and support I think even tho it is smaller...
Give Zoeann a big hug from me...
BMD..not much longer til Pinkstock!!
Shirl...nice kitty!!
Susan, are you home yet??
Lisa..was that the Dragon Boat in the paper this week the one you all are on??
-
Jodi - so glad to hear from you, but not glad about all that has been happening. I hope to see you next time.
I am home briefly - going back on Thursday. This time to move my parents to assisted living or a nursing home. I'm hoping for the former so I won't have the problem of trying to get rid of everything. 10 more days in hot, muggy, south Florida. Don't know how Starfish will do it.
Shirlann - love the cat. I've got to change my avatar to give Joli equal time.
You guys will appreciate this. While my father was in the hospital, his roommate was having problems. The doctor says to the man that he'll need lymphedema treatment. Then he says "who here knows what that is?" The nurse didn't, but I did... the unfortunate education we get.
