2nd Chemo treatment/headache

Options

My first treatment left me with a horrible sinus headache for 4 days. Severe head ache caused nausea, etc.  I've asked the Dr.'s to try to find a way to avoid this horrible headache before my second treatment which is coming up shortly. Any ideas?

72VW, the solution to your problem may depend on the type of chemo you are getting, and the point at which you develop the headache (what day of the treatment cycle?).

I too had severe headaches my first two treatments.....one of which landed me in the emergency room.  I was terrified that cancer had spread to my brain.  They treated me with pain medication and I was sent to a specialist who found everything to be fine.  I must have been chemo related, because it did subside after that.  Good luck to you, hopefully it will pass; however, please make sure you mention it to your oncologist during your next visit.

I also had a horrible headache for several days after my first chemo.  I mentioned it to my chemo nurse and she said it was from one of the pretreament drugs given to help treat side effects of the chemo (sorry, don't remember which one).

Whichever drug it was, they dropped the dosage and while I still had a headache, it was much milder and lasted only for about 12 hours.

The heada ache lasted 4 days. My treatments are every other Wed.  My second treatment was slowed and they gave me emmend (?) prior to my chemo. Then I came home with emmend pill for two days following treatment.  The head ache was still there, but nothing like the first one. MOre of a dull headache. Tomorrow will be day 3 after. let's hope for no headache.  this time very tired.

    thanks for replying.

Ask your Dr. About the med emmend (?).  It's expensive, but I believe it helped with my headache side effect.

    Thanks for the reply.
