I just received my pathology report. It says IDC grade 3.

What does this mean? I know it's the most aggressive, but what does aggresive really mean?

It also says Lymphoid Inflammatory Reaction identified...HUH????

Gross description: Multiple; tan-yellow needle core biopsy measuring 2.4 cm in aggregate. Does this mean the tumor is really 2.4cm and not the 1.8cm the mammogram showed?

    Dear Ninel,

I'm sure your oncologist will explain all this to you but I can say a couple of things.  Grade 3 means that the cells divide very fast.  Yes, it is aggressive but it also responds very well to chemo, so there is a trade off.  I'm not familiar with the LIRE term, nor its significance, I'm afraid.  As for the size, there could be a discrepancy between mammo, ultrasound, and MRI since each method looks at the lump differently, so wait to see what your doctor will say.

I can only imagine what you are going through because that's how I was when I was diagnosed last September.  I got mortified when I saw the Grade 3 but it's not as bad as it sounds and most Triple Negatives are Grade 3, anyway.  Try to take a deep breadth and see what your oncologist says.  We're here if you need us and I'm sure other TNs will respond to your message.

    Warmly,

    Christina
