Hey Kathy, I've got an appt with my onc as well tomorrow. Oh, joy I get to go to rads at 11:00 at the hospital and then over to the onc's office at 12:00. The fun never ends. Although my few questions would be a bit different than yours, such as when to start tamo, and how bout' the timing for a hysterectomy, and who takes the port out, and when?, I'm curious as to your questions for your onc, as I may want some input as well from my doc on anything pertinent.
Your day sounds a bit like mine, bouncing between appts and work. My boss has been extremely gracious with my time off for my rad appts, it seems that if I'm gone for 2 hours or less he has been shredding my request for sick leave. Boy after 7 weeks that will surely add up. Even with my early 8:00am appts, I'm going to work for 45 min., before taking off, showing him that I'm trying my best to be a team player, and returning as quickly as I can.
Hey I think I canvassed the group awhile ago, but how many have had their port removed, and who did it? I know it will probably be a fight for me to get my initial surgeon's office approved to remove it, as Group Health will probably tell me that their surgeons can do the job. I had quite a time with my insurance letting me go to the University of Wa hospital for my surgeries, but finally got my way. I'm thinking I want the guy who put it in to take it out... any thoughts???
Also while I'm thinking about it, does anybody have heartburn with our address list being "snail mailed" out ... I certainly won't jump the gun in doing so, but if I know I need to remove anybody from a mailing list I most definitely will get on it.
Its pretty funny as my fil came over for dinner and is downstairs with my dh, my fil loves the Bachelorette (sp) show. He was filling me in on all the particulars (like I cared), I had to retire to the "hot house" upstairs!!!
A great nights sleep to all, Carol

Kimberly -- love your travelog. Chicago is a fun city and I'm glad you were upgraded to 1st class. While it's definitely better than being in coach, 1st class has gone downhill since 9/11. I miss the days of shrimp cocktails and ice cream sundaes!
Deb -- enjoy your treadmill. I keep thinking about putting one in the game room once my youngest leaves for college in August. But, I like the companionship at the gym, so will probably keep going there.
D1 -- We buy cars using the Costco fleet price, so you don't need to negotiate. They charge $300 over invoice and since this is a "limited availability" car at this point and there was only one in Southern Calfornia the color he wanted, I'm sure we ended up with a better deal going through Costco.
KathyL -- I know what you mean about the endless appointments. I keep thinking I'm getting near the end and then a few more pop up! I have a mammo next week in addition to the last few rads and a Herceptin infusion.
Carol -- my great uncle left money for both my sons to buy their first new cars at 18, so technically this was my son's money (or great uncle's depending on your point of view). We just needed to be involved in the process since he's not quite 18 (two more weeks) and the car has to be in our name in addition to his to be on our insurance policy.

Hi JJ,
KathyL That is wonderful on your weight loss, I walked almost 1 1/2 mi today I just have to stay motivated. I'm glad you had good news on your test.
Carol I'm in Aw of you, 15 miles in this heat. Be careful out there.
Sis Kimberly You and twin sis look great, you are both so pretty. Good Luck with your doctor appt and toe nail. I have to see my chemo doc tomorrow. Sounds like you enjoyed your trip.
Deb Welcome back, lucky you a new treadmil. I'm happy for you.
Cathy congrats on the new car.
Welcome SuePeet I did have a pic line for my chemo treatments. After my 4th chemo treatment my pic line malfunctioned and my arm swelled up and I ended up in the hospital and they had to take the pic line out. Sorry for all your difficulties, I think what happened to you was your vein ruptured and that chemo burnt your arm. I know it did burn the inside of my arm. It takes time to get the swelling down and for it to heal. If the pain and swelling persists I would get a ultrasound and make sure you don't have a blood clot. I don't want to panic you, just keep an eye on it. I had to spend the night in the hosp because they were watching me for blood clots.
Good night Jewels, I probably have more to say, but I'm so slap happy tired I can't think straight. Good luck to the Jewels having treatments and doc appts this week.
D1 Thanks for your input, what you described I have on one side of my breast, but the rest of my breast and nipple and underam it was like my skin was melting off. It was so gross. Glad i'm past it. I'm still burnt but it's healing. I had hot flashes on the Tamox for the frist week, some light muscle cramps. Those symptoms have went away. I have noticed I want to eat everything I see, it seems to be leveling (sp) off some. I'm really trying to be aware of it and not eat.
LJ13 That's great you finally sprang for a new dining room set, it sounds beautiful. I know dp loves you for it.
The courage and strength of this challenge you face can also be met with a touch of God's grace. Rest in his arms as you lean and depend on love and support from your family and friends.

Happy short week Jewels!
Carol - As far as the port goes, I was told I have to keep mine for a few months and the dept that put it in will take it out. I am also confused about the "address list being snail mailed". Is that for the secret pal thing or so we can keep in touch or did I just really miss the boat. I don't have any problems at all with it. Just think I missed the post that talked about it and can't seem to find it.
SuePeet - I had a Power Port put in and haven't really had any problems. It is under the skin so no problems with water or anything once the small incision heals. I would prefer it over a pic line for sure. The only real downfall is having to be poked through the skin each time but there are creams to deaden the skin. They also don't knock you out to put it in. Not sure if that was an issue for you.
Well, I read the directions for the treadmill last night so am ready to go. How far? I'm sure it will be short for a while but at least I will be doing something. It looks much bigger than it looked in the store and has all kinds of cool bells and whistles.
Hope everyone if having a cool day. I am looking forward to Friday. Headed out of town and hope to do a little trout fishing on the river. Trying to get my mood back up and back to having as normal a life as possible. Also need to get strength back for the Race this year in October. I know it is not far but heck, it would feel like 50 miles right now.
Catch ya later......back to work

Hi Jewels! Hope everyone is having a good Tuesday! I woke up with a slight migraine today - first one in a LONG time - the dh and I were just talking a couple days ago and realizing that I hadn't had one since right after my last chemo in April. Guess I jinxed myself!
Paula - I'm so glad you had a nice celebration dinner on Saturday. Your trip sounds wonderful - I just LOVE the beach - ANY beach! Hopefully the break will do everyone in the fam some good. YAY for dd passing her permit test - my ds is only 12, but already talking about when he drives. Scares me to death to even think about it!
Carol - I hope you have a break from the heat soon! It's actually been cooler than usual here the last couple days - I even threw on a sweatshirt the other night when we walked the puppies! That's so not normal for our summer weather. Hope you're able to get your boat out this weekend! I'm with everyone else on the address list being snail mailed - works for me. Sounds like you have an awesome boss!
D1 - I wish you lived closer - I'd pay you good money to come to my house when you're in your cleaning mood! I love my cleaning ladies, but they don't do the oven and fridge, which I do not enjoy doing! Yes - the power washing is a chore, but I'm actually a freak about it - I love doing it! We have two huge patios and a looooong concrete driveway and I power wash them often during the summer. The dh starts his ‘cation tomorrow so I'm sure I'll be out there again doing it while he's working in the yard. I'm glad your nail gal could make you happy with your lost nail.
Cathy - Wow - nice car for the ds! That's awesome that your uncle left them money for a car. I've never heard of the Costco fleet program - sounds like a great deal!
Kimberly - so glad your party was fun! Thanks for the travel log of your Chi-town trip! I felt like I was there with you. I've always wondered what first-class would be like - sounds wonderful! Very interesting tidbit on the reason for the nickname, "Windy City." I've never heard that before and I'm from Illinois!! Everyone I've always talked to about it thinks it's b/c it's always so windy there! Ya gotta love those cabbies!
Kathy - hope your appts go well today and tomorrow - I've enjoyed some time off from the appts lately!
Sherry - good job on the walking! I started last week and have kept it up so far - I'm one of those that usually starts, then just doesn't stick with it.
Deb - sounds like you have a relaxing weekend planned - hope your work week goes fast for you!
I'm hoping to head over to my hometown (about an hour away) tonight for dinner with some high school friends. My cousin emailed a couple days ago (we graduated together) and she wants me to come with her and surprise all the other girls. She said they've all been asking about me and wondering how I'm doing. We had our 20-yr reunion last August and had such a blast - I'm looking forward to seeing them all tonight.
The dh will start his ‘cation tomorrow - we'll be home through the 4th, then we're heading to Wisconsin to visit the in-laws on Saturday. We'll be there through Wed of next week. It will be an interesting 9-hour drive! We'll have our 5-yr old niece, our ds, and our two 9-wk old puppies! I'm pretty sure I'll be ready to jump out of the vehicle at some point in the trip - ha ha ha! The two kiddos will be staying with g-ma and g-pa, though, when we come home, so the trip home should be a little quieter! They'll bring them back home the following week, then will be staying the week with us - it's going to be a busy couple weeks, but I'm looking forward to it.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Ladies,
Had an uneventful zapping, then off to my onc. He was pleased when I told him I felt like a million bucks. No GI distress to bitch about, my hair is still on my head (although very thin), and my energy level is peaking!!!
Talked about my port removal, basically its up to me when to have it out. I'm opting to have it removed when I have my ovaries out (probably in Nov) as I‘ll be asleep for the surgery. The ovaries we're another topic of discussion, he agreed with the other opinions I had seeked on having them removed. He wanted me to wait until after rads are completed to start taking Tamo.
Then he discussed with me Zometa, which I believe Joan and Kathy had chatted about. It a drug that is approved for use with osteoporasis diagnosis and prevention. I guess out of the San Antonio Symposium on BC, studies showed that its been effective as well as a preventative cancer drug for high risk woman that are pre-menopausal, ER+, node positive patients in decreasing the chances of mets to the bones. He talked about me taking an infusion which last about ½ hour once every 6 months for 3 years.
They took 5 viles of blood, (which I told the nurse I really didn't need to know), I'm such a wimp, thank god for my port and Emla! Blood work for thyroid, hormone levels, and to check to see if my body will metabolize tamoxifan, plus a couple of other test which now escape my memory. It was a long visit as I guess they had to get approval from my insurance co so they could run the metabolizing test. Leave it to Group Health to get their knickers in a knot! I'll be chatting with my onc again in a couple weeks, this will give me time to decide if Zometa is something I'd like to be on as well. So far I have pretty much played the numbers game with all of my treatments. If there is even a slight chance that a particular drug can lower my number for "reoccurence" (I hate that word), I'm more than likely going to bite.
Deb, hey the address list has been requested by a few Jewels. Basically it would be for the Jewels to be able to keep in touch with each other. Sending out cards, etc., but not part of the SP thing.
Julie, ahhhh "cation", sounds like you'll almost be traveling like the Griswolds!!! Assuming you may have seen the first Vacation movie.
I bet you'll have a fantastic time tonight (tell that slight migrane that you don‘t have time for it), and the surprise of you being there should add to the fun.
Heading outdoors to see if the yard work guys that the neighbors have hired will come over to our place and take the top out of a small tree (shrub), that's growing up past our gutter. My dh might not be the happiest with me doing so, but hey, I'll get the job done. Seems like my list of honey-dos is growing and it's the time of the year we want to be playing.
Gotta go, back at ya later, Carol
Okay $25 bucks later the top of the shrub is gone, the mess cleaned up, I'm a happy camper!!
I posted this goofy pic to my friends and family that I keep updated on my journey. I have basically been keeping a journal, figured this is part of it, might as well get a pic. The techs we're to cool, the one tech told the other one to look like he was doing something important while she took the pic. Between playing whatever tunes you would like (he has like 15,000 songs to choose from) and their great attitudes, seeing them 5 days a week is going to be alot easier. Yep, kept that gown pulled up for the photo op!!!
-
Thanks Sheshe : As today is Canada Day the clinic is closed - will probably go in tomorrow to see what hey can do. Swelling same - but had energy today so did some landscaping and shoveled some gravel and the arm actually felt a bit better. Guess will have to discuss game plan for next treatment coming up! Were you able to go swimming with the pic line.

Good Afternoon/Evening Jewels,
Well, what a busy day. I haven't read all the posts, but will do so in the morning. I'm bushed. I typed this earlier, so thought I'd do a quick insert, then go back and catch up in the morning before I head out to my port flush and lunch with a friend.I had my follow-up with my surgeon, whom I adore, and was presented with a gift of hair gel made for post chemo hair when it gets to the length it may need a little taming…maybe in a few weeks. It doesn’t dry the hair or flake. I got hugs from Dr. Guirguis and her assistant after they read my gift to them…a pic of me in my Supergirl cape with my poem Ode to my Body and my reflections on being done with treatment. They both just loved it. So, I’ll see her in February, and she wrote me a lab slip to redo my FHS and then to also do my Estradiol levels. She said they both need to be showing I’m in menopause before we can be sure of my status. She supported my decision not to do rads and Tamox, but said I may want to consider taking an AI after we get the results in Feb. I told her I would consider it, but would be doing a lot of research first, which she understood.
Then it was off to my plastic surgeon’s office. I gave him a pic as well with a copy of my poem. He and the gals in the office really loved it. He was also very pleased with my foobies although he thinks the left is still a bit smaller than the right even though he added more fluid to it originally. I told him it wasn’t that noticeable to me and besides, natural breasts aren’t always identical anyway. He smiled. I see him in August for my final post op appt.
Afterwards, I walked to the hospital to see a friend of mine’s mom who has been there since last Monday for surgery of cancer of the appendix (is that how you spell the body part?) which hasn’t appeared to spread anywhere else. However, because the cancer was touching the ovary, fallopian tube, and the top section of her large intestines they removed those just to be sure it hadn’t spread to them. It hadn’t.
Just finished a late lunch with the twinsis, drove home, and have about 30 or so minutes before I need to leave for yoga.
Travel log…segment #2. June 22,2008
We woke early, got ready, and met Kathleen’s coworkers from the Tempe, Arizona office in the lobby. Made a bee line for the Star Bucks then hopped on the M bus to take us to the McCormick Center, a large convention center that once housed warehouses of the garment district. The organizers of the SHRM(Society of Human Resources Management) conference did an outstanding job with tranportation, having lots of volunteers to point people in the right direction, a place for people to store luggage if needed, a spot to make reservations for lunch and time off for those attendees who came alone and wanted to network, a fabulous bookstore, and HUGE exhibition hall. There were over 13,000 people in attendance from all over the world.
After registering, I went to the bookstore with the gals to look around. I asked the gentleman at the door if Mr. Portier would be signing books, but he said, “Regrettably, no.” I was disappointed as I told him that Mr. Portier and Lionel Richie were the only reason I’d come as a guest. I did decide to purchase Mr. Portier’s book anyway even though Kath was looking out for me and told me I could get it at home and not have to carry it around. I found two other books I felt would be good for my classroom and went to the cashier to check out. Naomi, my cashier, was so bubbly and friendly. She asked where I was from and how I liked Chicago so far, and as I signed my receipt told me to enjoy the rest of my conference. I explained I was only a guest and had paid the $350 guest pass so I could hear Sydney Portier speak since that was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and that going to the Lionel Ritchie concert was just a bonus in my book. She looked at me and said, “I have a surprise for you.” I must have looked surprised as she pulled out from beneath her register a label with Sydney’s actual autographed signature telling me he’d only signed a few and that she was told only to hand them out to people she felt would really appreciate it. I about fell over. I was so excited I was jumping up and down saying, “Really?” and “Oh, my God!” while Kath kept saying, “ Kimberly, be careful with the jumping up and down, new foobies on board.” Naomi was just tickled with my reaction and kept telling her coworkers, “You should have seen her reaction. Wish I’d had a camera.” I carefully placed the signature into my book and thanked Naomi over and over again for choosing me. Needless to say, every time I was at the bookstore, we hugged. I am so blessed. I was walking on cloud 9. Took my picture next to Sydney before heading back to our Bus Route M stop.
We had time before the Opening General Session, so we went back to the hotel, dropped off our purchases, and ate brunch. Afterwards, I attended the first session with Kath for the first hour until 1:00 or so before I got up to get in line to hold seats for the girls up as close as possible to Mr. Portier. The Guest speaker at the session was a man named Steve Gilliland. He talked about Leading from the Heart. He had a great sense of humor and a fabulous ability to tell a good story. Anyway, I guess others had the same idea to line up early, but I still managed to get fairly close up.
I held our seats for almost an hour and then Mr. Portier was introduced after SHRM business was taken care of…the current CEO was leaving after 20 years and this was the 60th Annual conference in the city in which SHRM was created.
May I just say…still at 81…Mr. Portier is one handsome man!
He spoke so eloquently and with some humor about his life and finished with the thought that, “It isn’t that we get up when we are knocked down that matters as much as what we do once we’re up.” Isn’t that the truth.
Afterwards, Kath and I got cleaned up and took a cap to Spiaggia, an Italian restaurant I wanted to go to after meeting the chef and buying her cook book at the Monterey Wine Festival two years ago. It was the most expensive meal I’ve paid for myself, but I soooo deserved it. An 8 course small plate meal with a wine pairing for each course. Thankfully only a two ounce pour until we got to the Nebiollo, my favorite, so I was given a 4 ounce pour of that. Anyway, Kath was just so thrilled to have been taken to this restaurant as she doesn’t normally eat in such high class shi-shi places. It was a meal that capped off the perfect day!
I'll catch up in the morning. Oh, my SP sent me a great birthday gift...an awesome mug with an inspiration saying on the back, birthday tea (who knew there was something called Birthday Tea by the BagLadies? - that has carmel flavor, an Origami Peace Crane, and a card. Thanks SP.SIS Kimberly

Good morning!
The beach is beautiful and how relaxing to share it with my bf and her dh with NO KIDS to worry about! We'd still be trying to drag them out of bed so we could head to the beach if we'd have brought them along. Just got back from a morning walk and getting a bit of breakfast now.
Dh was sooo sick Monday night and slept most of the ride down. (you got it, Carol, this was def. a road trip--about 8 hours). I was afraid he wasn't going to be able to make the trip. Thankfully, whatever viral thing he had going on has passed and he is back to his usual good humor.
Have my sunscreen on and ready to head back to the beach. Wish you all could be here with me!

Hi Ladies,
Got back from Indianapolis on Monday evening. Had an okay weekend. Weather was not great, but we never got poured on. Ds's team played well, but didn't get to move on. They tied one game and lost two. All the scores were within one point though.
Yesterday, played catch up a bit around here. I am going at noon to see my hairdresser to see what she can do with my hair. Tomorrow I go to see my gyno for my annual. Will pick her brain about the ooph.
I did finish the Deanna Favre's book "Don't Bet Against Me", so if anyone is interested - let me know and I will mail it on.
I've caught up on all the reading and am glad everyone is doing well.
Have a great day!
-
Morning Jewels!
Carol - Would definitely like the list by snail mail. Will it include B-days that are know or just get them from the header here?
SISKimberly - Your trip sounded great. I LOVE Sydney Poitier. He is one of the best actors and people of the last couple of generations. It is great that you were able to get his signature. Pictures look great too.
Cathy-CA - I thought I would like the companionship of the gym (and I do) but I also like that I can control the climate and what I wear at home. Since I have not had reconstruction yet, I do get a little self conscious in some situations. That is getting to be less but still sometimes.
Did anyone else use ChemoAngels? I just wanted to say that it was a really great program to have a couple of people sending you cards and little gifts every week while in chemo. Mine is over now and I will miss them. Fortunately, I can still keep in touch occasionally. They were the best!
Well, better get back to work! Catch ya later.

Good Morning Jewels,
I slept great last night!!!! Guess running around all day topped off with a little yoga…well if you could call what I was doing yoga…must have done the trick.
I’m sitting here drinking my Birthday tea- with a hint of vanilla and caramel flavors - from my beautiful blue mug with the words “ quiet your mind, open your heart, exercise your spirit”, and looking at my Peace Crane, which represents Peace, Prosperity, Health, and Good Fortune. With my crane came the story of a Japanese girl named Sadako, who was 2 when the bomb was dropped then developed leukemia at 10. She was given an origami crane by a friend who told her the legend of a cranes living a thousand years and that sick people who fold a thousand cranes will get well. She folded 644 by the time she died at 12, so her class mates finished the needed 356 to place with her when she was buried. They also raised money to erect her statue as a memorial for all who want to remember her and the children of Hiroshima. On August 6, Peace Day, people bring folded origami cranes to the statue to honor Sadako and the children of Hiroshima.
My SP has been so wonderful in providing me with little treasures from different cultures with wonderful stories attached to them. THANK YOU, SP.
OK, so as I’ve read the past posts, it seems there is the desire to have the Jewels birthday and address list sent out. If you would like this list, I would be happy to email you the file if you wouldn’t mind PMing me your email address, or you can just ask for it, and I’ll mail it off to you via snail mail. I still need birthdays for people who either didn’t write it on their SP info or who aren’t doing the SP exchange this time around. If you want to join in, you still can for the Sept. switch, just let me know.
Carol- How awesome that your boss is so accommodating! I totally forgot to ask my surgeon about the port, so I left a message for her. Zometa sounds interesting. I’ll have to ask my doc about that after I do some research of course.
CathyCa- Awesome deal on that car for your son, and thank goodness for the inheritance, eh?
Sherry- Thanks for the compliment. Glad your boob is healing nicely…can’t have a sore hoot for the wedding. You’ll want to up dancing on the ceiling, right? (A little Lionel Ritchie residue)
Jules- Sounds like things are moving along nicely for you…getting your energy back and all. Yeah! Hmmm, your weather is too cool and ours is hot in the West…I’m thinking global warming is on the loose and reeking havoc on what we’re all used to experiencing.
A 9 hour drive with small children and puppies…bless you!
Thankfully, the drive home sounds like a much more manageable trip, or course, there may be a lot of sleeping going on while heading out to Wisconsin, so it might not be as energy filled as you think.
Hope you have a great time with your friends from your hometown.
Deb- It is so good to see you back on the board. WhooHoo on the treadmill. We’ll motivate you…you just keep on getting on that TM everyday, and watch how quickly you’ll progress.
Nope didn’t do ChemoAngels, but it sounds like a great program.
Paula- I’m so glad that you are both able to enjoy the beach without kids, just adult company, and time with the dh in a different setting that doesn’t involve doctors or lab tests. Enjoy gf, you so deserve this time to rejuvinate and relax.
Norma- So, is baseball over for the season now? I imagine that will be a sigh of relief with all the practices and games that entails.
Don’t use the sparklie washcloth.
D1 and Jules- My gal cleaned my fridge last week. Awesome!
Gotta go. Port flush, lunch, a bit of shopping to spend my gift certificate, then PT at 4:30.
Have a great day,
SIS KImberly

Hi Ladies
Kimberly, what a cool idea to share your poem and thoughts with your surgeon and ps. Leave it to you!
Score on the autograph from "Sid", isn't that what his friends call him???? This trip sounds like everything was going top-notch.
Another treat, dining at a "shi-shi" restaurant. Lets see, a 8 course meal with 2 ounces of vino per, I'd say if it we're me the last one would be tasting quite good!!!
I would have thought that they would have removed your port during your exchange surgery. Being the wimp I am, I don't care to be awake when they remove that little puppy.
Paula, checking in from the beach , eh? Sounds like your having a great time, sure hope that Ed is feeling better today and can share in some of your fun with friends.
I'd say an outing away from the normal surroundings with my dh is just what our relationship needs. The daily routine is getting to be a grind for both of us, and maybe some new surroundings, and going to bed at the same time, could help spice things up a bit. Something's gotta help my mindset.
Norma, sorry to hear that your sons team isn't moving on. I hate to say it but through the years it sometimes was kinda nice to be done with one season, the new one comes around all too soon.
I wouldn't mind hearing what your gyn has to say about an ooph. Looks like Sis Kimberly already reminded you to check your washcloth!!!
Deb, I heard about the Chemo Angel program, I think by Jennifer, throughout this journey we've certainly had our share of angels looking out for us.
All this talk thats been going on about cleaning, and stupid me, forgot to leave my housekeeper a check yesterday. The price went up, she is trying to defer some of her fuel costs as well. Can't say I blame her, and I don't want to lose her, so $10 more it is. She did the outside windows (lower level), stupid me, I ended up spraying the slider with the hose while watering my baskets.
Back to my duties here at work, this dispatching gig isn't so bad since I'm able to poke around a bit on the puter!!!
Later , Carol

Yesterday started off with fender bender on the way to work. My car stalled on the way to taking the kids to preschool, and the guy behind me ass-ended me. Luckily he was nice, no one got hurt, and there's barely any damage to my car (his truck is fine, of course). Dh looked at it again last night and we decided to do nothing; my car's 8 years old, and the dent it small, in a spot that you really can't see unless you're looking for it.
Went to work ("new job") for 4 hrs., then off to the onc's. He was 1 ½ hrs. behind schedule which is rare for him-I've never waited that long. I was getting really perturbed (more so b/c I had to go to my next job and was afraid of being late). Luckily, they've decided to do the herceptin infusions over an hour now, so I was able to make up some time there. It's so nice to have a short infusion after the marathons I had for chemo! Anyway, he did not want to hold off on the herceptin. He felt my shortness of breath was more due to recuperating from chemo and not being back to "normal" yet. I felt better after his explanations, and know what to look for if things are not as we suspect. I'll get another MUGA in September just to make sure. If it's worse, he said we'll stop herceptin early then and be done. He isn't worried about my rib pain (it's intermittent and has happened twice now); he's seen this happen after reconstruction evidently.
After the herceptin infusion, I made it to work ("old job"), and had a great evening. My assistant seems to be good,a nd the eves are quieter than the craziness of the office during the day. I think I'm gonna like it. Was out of there early, and home by 8.
Today I went to the dentist (uneventful), and saw my breast surgeon. I really like her and hadn't seen her since January (the day I was hospitalized with the nonexistent WBCs!). She commented on the "great looking breasts" I now have (she makes me laugh in general, but it really cracked me up to hear another woman say that sincerely) and that I was looking good overall. I'll see her every 6 months now, and she's going to do MRIs of the opposite side every 6 months for a while. The plan is to do mammo, then 6 months later MRI, then mammo... etc. for about 2 years. I get my mammo in August, so I'll get my next MRI in February.
Cleaning ladies did make it today! I like them both, and they did a nice job. Final verdict will be dh since he's the "cleaning nazi" as I call him. I'm just happy to have help, he's more critical. Hopefully the kids and pets will not destroy their work before he gets home...
Carol: Sorry I'm responding so late. I asked my onc about some sx I'd been having (shortness of breath with activity, and some left rib pain), about doing another MUGA (should we, and if so, when), as well as when/if to do a breast MRI (my second opinion onc had recommended it, and so did my surgeon). Glad to hear you got all your questions answered.
My post will stay in until I'm done with herceptin. I was told it can come out pretty much as soon as I'm done with that in January. My breast surgeon and my PS have both said they can do it. I'm opting for my PS since she's "neater".
Mailing out the address list sounds great.
SuePeet: My port has been a Godsend! Unlike others here, I was knocked out for its insertion ("twilight anesthesia"; so I was not totally under, but I don't remember a thing), and they'll do the same when they take it out.
Julie: Poo! Sorry to hear about the HA. Hope you recovered and could enjoy the dinner.
Kimberly: Loved reading the next installment! And what an awesome picture of you and your sister-you look fab, girl!
Great gifts from your SP. OK, how do we fold the cranes?!
PALady: Welcome back! I read Deanna's book, too. Now I'm reading one about life after treatment... so far, so good.
Gotta run. Dirty kids to bathe.

Great News !!!
I saw Onc. today the lump was just a cyst. And the original tumor is GONE no trace of it. YEA!!!!
I will have surgery July 10th. Lump and Lymph Node dissection. Will stay in over night and come
the next day.
I confronted the DH on Sunday about all he has said and done and how hurtfull it was. He is in
total denial. He said I was just being mean.
I hope to catch back up. I need to go back a few pages.
Take care Hope everyone is well. Hughs to all

Carla, YEEEEAAAHHHH!!!!! ... what great news you received today, for those who did not have neo-adjuvant therapy, its gotta make them feel pretty darn good as well, as chemo once again did its job. I'm so happy for you, its got to make the last few months feel really worth it.
Hate to go there, but I would make sure that you have a game plan in place for surgery day and subsequent recovery time. Your DH may be in denial, but your going to need a caring love one to be at your side. YOU GO GIRL!!!
Kathy, had to laugh at your "dirty kids to bathe", I was pounding on the door to the bathroom tonight to tell my son he doesn't have to wait until the hot water is completely out to finish his shower. Oh how they grow up!
Gal, you have not had the best of luck as of late, a "ass-ended" accident. Sounds like you we're able to re-group, and get back on schedule. Yeah for the "great looking breasts". Seeing your pic, your a great looking lady, and I'm sure your resonating beauty.
No problem on the onc questions, we do have quite different paths, so my questions are probably a bit different than yours. I will be pressing for a MRI/Mamo schedule such as yours.
Kimberly, so after eating lunch out, are you still hungry enough to go home and fix dinner? I'm still having a motivational problem when it comes to preparing dinner, and I can't blame it on not having my little nipper in the eve.
I saw my rad doc today, she had many computerized pics for me to look at, as she explained more about my treatment. Hate to say it, but today is only #8 and I definitely have started to experience a bit of skin tightness across my chest and my underarm is a bit more sensitive. YIKES, this could be quite the ride. Yes you experienced rad queens, I am buttering with aloe, and acuaphor, in fact the doc was very happy to see how I had gooped that greasy crap all over my site after disrobing and getting dressed. My "hoot in a box" is going to probably be camping out right there (in her box) from now until after I recover from my radiation. Well, maybe on "cation" I might want to sport her a time or two, we'll see!!!
.Tomorrow night in our small town is our large celebration for the 4th. Our town is located right in a small bay of water, they bring in a barge and shoot the town's fireworks from it on the 3rd. We'll be going (within walking distance) to our old neighbor's new house to watch. She moved just down the street to a home right on the water overlooking the town and marina. My ds is hoping that the dh gets our boat ready to put in the water tomorrow, as he is hoping to take a "date" out in it to watch the fireworks. My oh my, my little boy is growing up!!! We will probably make sure that he has it tied up to the dock prior to dark, the bay gets rather crazy at the end of the fireworks show and just what we need, a hormonal teenage boy at the helm in that chaos!!!
The dh just called, coming home very late from work as he is planning on taking tomorrow off, ds is at work as well, so its me and the wieners once again. More than likely I'll be 10 toes up by the time they both get home

Hi Jewels,
I got my puppy! She's adorable, cute, precious, cuddly, soft, and lots more! I put her picture as my avatar. I would include pictures in the message but I'm not sure how - I'm working on it.
She is 3 months old, a pure bred bichon frise. I'm so happy, I can't stand it. She does keep me busy with the training - but that's a good thing!
More to come.

Morning gems. Using my BlackBerry to post as the laptop is in the bedroom. Woke up early, sitting here drinking my java and watching the sunrise. Everyone is having a wonderful time. Yesterday was gf birthday, did some outlet shopping and got some great buys at the Anne Klein store. Had a yummy meal of fresh seafood and topped off the eve with a couple of magaritas and a walk on the beach. Today looks like another perfect beach day. Dh and I SO needed this! have a great day, my friends! Paula
-
Joan, OMG what a cutie-pa-tootie!!! Give a holler if you need help posting a pic.
Paula, I'm thrilled for you and Ed, enjoy the rest of your stay!!!
So, I've been receiving some of my lab results, via on-line reports that are generated through Group Health and e-mailed to me directly. I personally don't know much about what they mean, thought I'd throw out a couple of numbers, as I won't be discussing them with my onc for a couple weeks. My FHS level is 105 (I think thats high, and good news), and my LH level is 35.
Leaving work, off to rads this morning, then back to work! Hoping to get off by 2:00 today, we usually get an extra hour off prior to a 3 day weekend ... YEAH!!!
Later, Carol
-
Hi Jewels,
I've just been lurking and staying on top of everyone's posts. I have to echo Carol's YAY for a 3-day weekend!! Even though we really don't have any firm plans for the 4th, it will be so nice not to have anything to do. We have been out on the Harley's several times. Hope we can do more of that this weekend, sounds like we're in for some nice weather, although a little cool (go figure).
Hope you're all well...will check in again later.
Tina

Hey Jewels!
Joan - I see I wasn't the only one looking for a puppy. Yours is such a cutie! I got my new puppy last night (see new avatar-if she could flap her ears fast enough, she could fly
). She is a 16 week old Cardigan Corgi. She is purebred also but not show quality due to too much white around her eyes. But I can do Agility with her and there is a new "fun" type of obedience competition called Rally Obedience. I am looking into that as it would be some exercise and some training (for both of us) too. Check it out if you are thinking it would be interesting. Good way to bond with your dog too.
I'm sorry, but there is just something about the words "hoot in a box" that cracks me up. Thanks for the chuckle this afternoon.
Hope everyone is off for the long weekend whether to be lazy or having something planned. As for me, I will be floating on the White River Saturday with my dp and a guide trying to catch brown trout. I will of course let all of them go if they will just play the game with me for a bit. I am definitely a catch and release fisherman most of the time. Only keep what I can eat that day and usually don't do that either.
Well, the weekend is almost here. Hope everyone continues to improve either as they are finished or nearing the finish line.
-
Hellooooo Jewels! Happy almost 4th of July!! I'm glad our working Jewels will get a 3-day weekend - I LOVE those during the school year! We're hoping to be out on the boat tomorrow - it's only supposed to be in the upper 70's here, though, and may rain - our typical 4th weather is in the 90's and sweltering! The ds invited a friend over tonight - they're hoping to be thrown about on the tube tomorrow, so we'll see.
Carol - Love the pic of you at your appt - too cute! Yep - we're absolutely going to be looking like the Griswold's on our trip! Should be interesting - apparently our niece is a bit "torn" about leaving her mommy and I'm really hoping she gets over that before Saturday! We took her with us last year and she did fine, so let's hope it goes as well this year. I hope you're able to get your boat out over the weekend - your fireworks display sounds cool!! I grew up watching the STL fireworks which are amazing, so it's hard for me to be impressed with anything around where we live - they're pretty lame.
Kimberly - loved your travel log #2 - too cool that you got the signed pic of Mr. Portier!! I bet he was an amazing person to listen to. You and your sis look wonderful!
Norma - glad your trip went well - I'm with Carol on the teams not continuing sometimes being a blessing. I'm one of those that always hoped that ds didn't get "picked" for the traveling team b/c it's just soooo much work and I like to enjoy my summers! I know - that's selfish - at least I admit it!
Kathy - bummer on the fender bender!! Glad no one was injured!! Bet it was nice to hear that your surgeon thinks your new breasts are "great looking!" I'll just be glad when I can get these hard-a** coconut-like expanders out and get my implants!! I've been rather uncomfortable sleeping and am looking forward to my exchange at the end of the month.
Carla - YIPPPEEEEEEE --- just a cyst!!! That's awesome news!! I agree with Carol - make sure you have someone who will be supportive and willing to help you during your recovery. I hope DH thinks about what you said and comes around eventually.
Joan - your puppy is adorable!! How big will she get? Hope the training is going well - our pups are doing pretty good with theirs - it's a chore though!
Paula - I'm so glad you and Ed are having a good time at the beach! It sounds just perfect!!
Tina - glad you checked in - I've been wondering where you were - out riding those Harleys apparently! We'll be up your way this weekend - only as far as Black River Falls, WI, though (about an hour from Eau Claire).
Deb - your new puppy's adorable too!! I've never seen a Corgi either - very cute!
D1 - hope you're enjoying some time with your sister during her visit!!
Well, girls, I better figure out what we're going to feed the boys for dinner. Dh is out on the 4-wheeler "puttering" in the property - who knows what project he's cooking up now! Hope everyone has a great 4th weekend!!
Julie

Wow, our little town is hopping as I drove through on my way home from work. The bay will end up with hundreds of boats as well as the docks being completely full. Our boat is still in the driveway, my dh had bought two more speakers (I guess the 8 speakers in the boat we're not enough) to add to the tower (that would be the goofy thing that holds all the watersport boards) and is just finishing up on the wiring. I think he is worse than the young kids with the music and wanting to be able to crank it up.
I pulled out our lone patriotic cd, have it blasting on the patio speakers. Once a year a year its kinda fun to hear those old tunes!
I left the rad office today and said "have a great 3 day weekend", the tech said oh, we're working tomorrow, for "special cases" that cannot take Fri off with their txt. So I jumped all over that one and asked if there was any way that they could squeeze me in. That would make my last day fall on a Friday instead of the Monday before I'm going on "cation". BINGO ... amazing what makes me happy these days, "Radiation on the 4th" ... YIPEE!
Oh fearless leader D1, having fun are we???
Tina, thanks for stopping in to let us know all is well, so glad to hear that your back out on the bikes, Life is Good, eh?
Deb, speaking of Life is Good ... fishing, new pup (another cutie-pa-tootie), things don't get much better than that. Spent many an hour as kids fishing with my folks. Between, salmon, halibut, trout, smelting, crabbing, and digging clams and shucking oysters we spent many an hour doing it all. Its amazing to me now, took my son a few years ago to go fishing, and I literally could not kill what we caught without being upset. Catch and release would have been cool, but the little buggers would half way swollow the hook. I think my ds will be fishing straight from the seafood counter at the store. Have a great time!!!
Julie, good luck with your niece ... hopefully she hits the road and forgets about being homesick.
I'll be thinking of ya tomorrow as we'll be puttering in the boat this weekend as well. Leave it to the 4th to bring yucky weather, we have had a good bit of rain today, although it appears to be clearing as I type. As my rads moves forth, I think the bit about no watersporting is not going to be that tough My chest is getting tighter by the day and at the moment a pull behind the boat is the last thing I want to do. Darn, I guess somebody will have to sit in the boat and have snacks and beverages!!!
Here's to a great 4th of July to my Jewel friends, I don't know about the rest of you but in Dec/Jan I never would have thought that July would come so quickly.
Carol

Carla: Yea! So glad to read your great news... now if only we could hear something good regarding you and DH. I agree with others that I hope you can get some good support for your upcoming surgery.
Joan: Your new puppy is adorable. Good luck to you with the training. I envy you and Jules with the cuties, but I have enough adventure trying to potty train ds right now!
Paula: Some R and R is definitely needed for you and dh... enjoy!
Carol: I'm not much help on the adult hormone numbers. I don't deal with it too much in peds.!
OK, I'm going to be a mom here... girl, you shouldn't post that number! You never know what wackos could call you. Just looking out for you...
Had to chuckle about your rads on the 4th. It is the little things like getting done earlier despite doing tx on a holiday that make us happy, huh? WTG!
Deb: ANOTHER Jewel that's adopted a pup! And yours is cute, too. What's going on here? Hope you have a nice time on the river.
I'm leaving to go visit my parents in PA tomorrow for the weekend. The kids are so excited--- I just hope they get some sleep tonight. I'll also get to see my new niece that was born in Feb. (my stepbro and his wife are coming in from Chicago). In case I'm not around Sunday... this week is a biggie! Kris60 should be finishing her LAST tx on Tuesday!!! The Jewels will all be done with chemo then (except Dana, but I'm not sure if she's doing any chemo at the moment; last I'd heard she wasn't).
Happy 4th Jewels! (Carol, I can't believe it's July already either!)

Good Afternoon Jewels,
I had a long day again yesty. Had a port flush at 10am, then went to Ulta to get my Bare Minerals makeup replacement-this stuff lasts a long time-, ran into my Vice Principal there, who is having her second child in October, and chatted for a bit, then off to my birthday lunch with my girlfriend, who just retired – may I just say, retirement becomes her, she’s so relaxed…I’m jealous thinking about going back to school in August, and then we did a little shopping with my gift certificates. Found a really cute black and white dress and a couple of tops. Off to PT at 4:30, didn’t get done until after 6pm, then
got home and made dinner- King crab legs and a salad with a glass of French Hill Chardonnay. Yummy. Finished my book, and was off to sleepy town until about 2am when I was awake for at least an hour. Didn’t get out of bed until 7:30…too late for me as I’m up by 6:30 usually.
Today, PT at 9:30am, to the bank, get primer paint and lunch for the child and his gf who are repainting their former roomie’s green bedroom white again for potential new roomy in August, and then home.
I’m home. Ended up going out to lunch instead of bringing it along as Jon needed a ladder and trim paint too, so went to Home Depot after lunch. I spent an hour at home and got a call stating the primer didn’t cover all of the walls, so I was off again to Home Depot and Jon’s house before heading out to yoga class. Tried to go to yoga, but the doors were locked, so I guess they cancelled today. Oh well. PT kicked my butt, so part of me isn’t too sad about that.
So, what have you all been up to?
Hey Carol – I totally understand your feelings about not spending quality time with the dh and worrying about how that is effecting the relationship. Have you guys talked about it? Nice glass of wine out on the back porch, no answering phones, when the ds is working or at Dad’s? Greg and I have been talking more. He’s decided he needs to be on an antidepressant. When I was gone he had his physical and told his doc about how depressed he’d been over the past 8 months. I was so proud of him, but I’d sure like for him to see a counselor as he doesn’t talk to anyone that I know of about things other than me. I’ll mention it next time we talk about things. But things are good now that he’s awknowledged his feelings, and he’s open to really talk about things. Oh, and the drought ended when I got home from Chicago. I told him Friday night that he only had one more chance to be with this 46 year old as 47 was in just a few hours.
Yeah, I’d say I scored big time on that trip. We also saw Maroon 5 at the Lincoln Park Zoo and Lionel Ritchie at the convention center, for SHRM people only, and Wicked our last night there. Fabulous!!!! I’ll post some pics…and some of my favorite statues in Grant Park in my next post. Have to load them onto Photobucket.
Yep, after lunch at 11:30, I was totally motivated to cook dinner and hungry enough to eat it especially since it was close to 7:00 by the time we ate. I’ve been trying to do more of the cooking since Greg had taken on all the cooking for so long.
Tonight is salmon with a salad using mandarine oranges.
Sorry about your burnt hoot. Man, after only #8, I can’t even say I know what you’re going through here…how to respond except to say, “OUCH” as I hold my own foobie.
At least you’re doing what you can to keep the pancake buttered.
Your fireworks show sounds great. Hope you all have a great time except ds doesn’t need to have too good of a time if you get my drift.
Your FSH level is a good sign that you’re in menopause, but it will need to be redone in six months along with your estrodial levels. If both are in the post menopausal range, you’re good at least that is what my surgeon stated the other day.
Whoohoo on getting in for rads tomorrow. I’m with you on the whole if you don’t ask you’ll never know philosophy.
Score one for Carol!!! I don’t wonder about things anymore, I just ask. I used to just let things go not wanting to bother people.
Kathy – You are a busy gal. Glad the fender bender wasn’t bad, that you feel better about the Herceptin, and got your questions answered. Your surgeon sounds like mine…awesome!
How did the dh respond to the cleaning ladies’ work? Hopefully they got a good grade.
Carla – WhooHoo on the good news!!!!! Now, don’t let your DH ruin your positive frame of mind. You can’t change him only your actions and reactions. Interesting how you expressing your hurt over things he’s said and done led to him pointing the finger back at you. What a difficult place to be, Carla. Keep moving forward with or without him. Like I’ve said before, I’m proud of you for really getting out of yourself and growing by getting involved in counseling on your own, being a speaker for your local cancer center, and being a great role model for your girls. I’m with Carol about making sure you’ve got a game plan for someone to be with you.
Joan – OMG, is your new puppy adorable or what? YES!!!! I can tell how much you just love her from your post. I’m so happy for you.
Oh Paula, I couldn’t be happier for you and the dh having this chance to just unwind. You’re making me jealous with your beach talk. Enjoy…like you need me to tell you that, right?
Deb- Another puppy in our midst. How cute is she with her black ears. I love Corgi’s and have not heard of a Cardigan Corgi. She looks bigger than the Corgi’s I’ve seen.
Have fun this weekend on the river.
Hey Tina- We don’t have big plans either. A BBQ with another couple and maybe watching the fireworks show at McBean Park downtown, or not depending upon how we’re all feeling when the time comes to drive out there and find a place to park.
Julie – Enjoy your day on the water. Hope it warms up a bit for you and that the kids get bumped around on the tube.
Take care gals,
SIS Kimberly

yup, I'm a single digit midget !!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting very antsy...
I actually went to Wal Mart today without my 'dew rag' on..... had a few stares, oh well, I'm at the point where I don't give a hoot anymore. I was actually hoping that those that were doing a double take would bump into something and knock it all over, then I could be the one to laugh... is that mean? Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend!!!!

Happy 4th of July!!! Hope there's a great fireworks display in your future, Jewels!
Sorry I've been MIA this week. My sister arrived Tuesday evening, and I spent all day Tuesday preparing for her visit. On Wednesday I tagged along on their sightseeing trip to Mt. Vernon (George Washington's estate on the Potomac River). They've made some changes to the estate (added an interpretive center and restaurant), so I wanted to see it. The museum and movie they added are really quite good (although I left with the impression that GW was the only truly Great American ever to walk this soil! Such propaganda!). But, it was an absolutely beautiful day and the estate is situated on the banks of the Potomac perfectly-I was ready to move in!
Yesterday, I sent my sis and her family off on the Metro (our subway system) to tour things downtown while I exercised, laundered, vacuumed, prepped for dinner and had my myofacial and le txs. The myofacial gal is really making some progress with me. I'm excited that I can pull my car door shut again without having to get out of the car. After she's done hurting me, my legu steps in and gives me my MLD massage (still making me drool just a little bit).
Today we don't have any plans till around 6p when I'm thinking we're going to Metro to the stop near the Iwo Jima Memorial and watch the fireworks from the Virginia side this year. That's a cool spot because the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and the Capitol building all "line up" in your line of vision and it's a WAY cool backdrop for the fireworks. My bil is a professional photographer, so I'm thinking he'll get a kick out of that.
Okay, let me head over to the thread and see what you guys are up to...
"Too Blessed to be Stressed?" I love it! It's a good reminder to all of us to take a chill pill-I VERY frequently forget to take one... (SIS Kimberly, you can get the Thai Green Curry simmer sauce at Trader Joe's-I totally cheat on that meal.)
Good catch on the infiltrating IV, KathyL, I hope SuePeet gets it straightened out. (I did get the oven and stove to match the fridge, but they're already getting messed up again with all the people here-oh well, they looked sublime for a good 4 hours!)
Carol, oh lol, a "two-holer" hotel room. You can always crack me up.
Oh, and don't sweat the housecleaning-I never really notice other people's cleanliness (unless it's egregiously bad). I just like how I feel when my house is clean.
Didn't have a port, Carol, I mainlined my chemo via IV, so I can't help you there. Hope you got some answers (and your arsenal to deal with your insurance co., what a pain). I'll read on and see...
CathyCA-what a great idea to buy the car through Costco. I would've never thought of that. I'm going to mention it to dh when we're ready. Oh, and I'm joining the chorus on the endless appointments. I was just looking at my calendar for next week and see that I have 6 medical appointments! Will this ever end?????
Sherry-thanks for taking the time to share your PICC line experience with SuePeet. I think you may be the only one of the Jewels that had a PICC line. Hmmm. I haven't felt the food cravings you describe while on the Tamox. But I've been obsessed with losing my post dx weight that I've all but stopped eating anything other than what's on my plate at a meal. (Sadly, still drinking-particularly with my sis in town-so the calorie intake is undoubtedly still too high.) Hope you're able to discipline yourself to meet your weight goal. Keep up the walking-it can only help.
You make me smile, Deb, the Race as 50 miles??!! You won't even notice your Race after you "train" on the new tm. Sounds cool (oh, and they're always bigger at home!). Hope you managed to catch something good for dinner!
Oh Julie. Isn't that always the way? Just as soon as you start breaking your arm patting yourself on the back, the migraines come back. I hope its short lived for you this go. I'll read on and see...
You must have your own power washer, Julie, since you're out doing it so often. We rent one and I think that's why it doesn't get done as often as it should around here. I was just trying to "sweep" moss off the patio before my sis came in!
I hope you have a good cation to Wisconsin. Funny, the sis that's visiting me right now lives in WI!
Oh Carol, you remind me. My gyn did some bloodwork last week and I stopped by on Tuesday when I was between p/t appointments and got my results. He said everything looked good, except my platelet counts. I have to go back in 3 months and have it done again to be sure. My cholesterol was higher than last time, but was only 161, so I'm happy with that. I tried to get the Tamox metabolism test, but my onc said it wasn't necessary and would be an insurance issue, so I didn't get that one. I hope your insurance comes through for you.
Oh yeah, got the shrub trimmed. Wish those guys were in my neighborhood-I have a mountain laurel growing at the corner of my house that was only supposed to be 8 ft. tall, but it seems to be really happy and is more than 16 ft tall now and gets in to the gutter. We've tried to tame it over the years, but it's really out of control!
Goodness SIS Kim, your Tuesday sounds busier than mine and you still found time to post. I feel like such a weenie! Sounds like your friend's mom dodged a bullet as far as mets go. Whew! I hope she is as successful in the rest of her tx and is back in the saddle in no time.
And the luck continues-first class, $50 and Sidney Portier's sig!!!! You go, girl!
Paula, keep kicking back. I think this is just what the doctor ordered. (Thank goodness dh bounced back from his virus!)
No injuries from the fender bender, KathyL? That's such a PITA (particularly for your car). At least it sounds like you won't have to figure out logistics while your car is in the shop-I hate that.
Hey Carla-FAB news on the cyst and tumor shrinkage!!!! Hip hooray!!! Keep celebrating and live life.
Ooh, I'm wincing at your tightness after tanning session #8, Carol. Good thing you get today off. A three-day weekend will give your skin a little extra healing time. Keep buttering.
Joan, that dog is TOO CUTE!!! Like I said to Julie, I'm glad the training period is behind me, but you guys sure have cute dogs. Almost makes me miss the puppy years-almost.
Another new puppy for Deb! What's going on around here???
Julie, I can totally relate to the selfish side of wishing your kids don't get "picked." I've been there myself many a time.
Sorry, only made it through Julie's post before my sis got up, so I'll have to pick up from there later.
Have a great 4th, you guys!!!

Happy 4th of July Jewels,
I slept really well. I was whooped after PT yesty, and I couldn’t shake it off for the rest of the day. Guess that’s the secret to a good night’s sleep…being beat up by PT Babydoc.
Kris- I’m so excited for you to only have one more infusion. You have every right to be antsy and a little ‘mean’, although I don’t think it’s mean to wish those staring would run into something so you’ld get the last laugh. When people stare at me, I just imagine them thinking, “ What a fabulous looking bald woman!” Hee Hee. It’s a mind game, and I do choose to believe that people’s intentions are never meant to hurt me, so I choose not to react as if they were being hurtful. Take care sweetie, you’re train is coming into the station, and all of your Jewel Pals will be waiting with celebratory hoots and balloons- yep, pun intended.
D1- The trip to the GW’s estate sounds wonderful although I totally understand your propaganda comment. It seems that any museum focused on a person puts forth only the very best, of course, so they seem above human flaws.
My PT Babydoc is making progress with me as well. I have better range of motion, but my shoulders and arms are so weak. Just lifting the plastic pole behind my head while laying down, which hurts like heck, causes my arms to shake as if I were lifting some great amount of weight. But….there is progress. I’m so glad for you and the progress you’re making as well.
OH, the fireworks you’ll be watching sounds spectacular. I do hope you bil takes some amazing shots you can share with us.
Have a great rest of your visit with your sis.
OK, Jewels, got company coming today, so I’ve got to get moving. I’ll check in tomorrow.
SIS KImberly

Happy 4th ...
We had a great evening and our weather cooperated, started it off at the yacht club at 4:30 with our friends for a barb'que, spent about 2 hours visiting, back home, grabbed the boat and off to the gas station to top her off,she holds 40 gallons and looks like we put her away last year on the big "E". Between the boat and my SUV we pumped 55 gallons of gas, that was UGLY!
The launch was uneventful, the dh and I have it down to a science, my fil and I took the boat, the dh heads back to the house to wash the trailer (the bummer of salt water). Picked up the dh at the marina across the street from our house, and off to slowly tootle about looking at all the boats in the harbor. Next stop was to our elderly ex-neighbor's new home on the water, the dh dropped myself and fil off on her little dock, and he headed back to tie up our boat at our summer slip, as the ds was planning on taking it out after he got off work. This is all within walking distance.
Our other neighbors joined in on the fun at Muriel's, she had lite dinner for us (I ate very little at the bar b' earlier) and watched the fireworks from her porch. Walked back home last night at 11:00, and a good night was had by all!
Jumped on line this morning, and more test results we're available on my Group Health site. This one is the Estradiol level. Mine is less than 5. Meant nothing to me, so had to Google it, its looking like those hot flashes are happening for a reason. Sis Kimberly, thanks for the input, I'll be having a chat with my doc once all the results are in. I know there is atleast one more test result pending, as he mentioned the thyroid and the metabolizing of tamo test.
Kimberly, just had King Crab legs as well on Thurs, nothing better IMO. My dh is pretty picky when it comes to King Crab as he worked on a crab boat (in his younger days), they had it as fresh as it comes, we hit the jackpot with a great tasting bunch of legs!
Kudos to your dh for dealing with his feelings and having the "kahoonies" to discuss it with his doc. Sounds like things are getting better and better for the two of you, and yeah on the end of the drought! Now as far as Kent and I, I've got the sitting on the deck having a glass of wine thing down, its that communication thing I have a tough time with. I've pretty much spent my whole life not wanting to chat about the serious stuff that needs to be addressed. Kent is much better than I about talking, I tend to get too emotional so I dislike it when the topic hits home, and I usually will try to change the subject. Definitely something I need to work on, and lately with whatever hormone changes are happening, my tear ducts are ready to flood (not a pretty sight). I have personally gone to a counselor over the years, first time to get over my divorce (which is a story in itself), then again when my mom died. I swear I'd just walk into her office and the flood gates would open at that time, I can't even imagine what I'd be like now.
Oh, the rad site (which is definitely not a "hoot") is not burnt yet, its just gotten really tight feeling. My arm is also pretty tender, yesterday as the tech was trying to smoosh me into my mold it was a bit painful where it had not been a biggy in the first few appts. My dh is accompanying me today, as he hasn't been to the rad center except to meet in the office of the doc for my initial consult. Today will be a little show and tell!
Kris, our "single digit midget", crack me up gal. Hope your last txt is eventful in a good way. I don't know about your Walmart, but at ours there are a lot of other goofy looking people wandering in it that would be worthy of staring at besides a gal who is missing some hair on her head!!!
D1, enjoyed the update, had a hunch that your visit was going well.
I don't think my cholesterol has ever been that low. Must be that good clean living! Actually being the exercise queen you are, that's got to be a big contributing factor. So no snackies with that nipper, your hard core.
Kathy, okay so I'm not the "sharpest tool in the shed", removed my number, I actually was going to PM it then decided to post it to save time as I try to sneak a peak from the work puter and post quickly. Advice was appreciated!
Hope your enjoying the time with your folks, and what a bonus to see your baby niece. Sounds like the perfect 4th weekend.
Hoping to spend a little time in the boat this eve, thinking to myself maybe a dinner out via boat would be fun. There is a great steak house that has a dock we can tie up to. We'll probably have to see how busy it is tonight, usually our little town is kinda mellow on the 4th as it celebrates on the 3rd with its fireworks.
Hope you all are having a great day yourselves, off to shower and then to the rad office. YEAH ... 10 down 25 to go!!!
Carol
