Ok I've had these since my surgery.  I get these eye floaters (at least that's what I've called them).  They look like little zig zag lines and last about 15 minutes - maybe longer.  I've done some reading and they could be linked to migranes.  I don't get the migrane part but I guess you can get something like this without the headache.  Anyone have experience with this?

I've called both my onc and my heart dr to make sure it's not linked to them.  Does not raise any red flags with the onc (I of course when straight to thinking brain mets Tongue out) My heart dr said that this long after surgery it's prob not surgery related.  I did schedule an eye appt for today, so I'll see if anything shows up there.

Anyway just thought I'd throw this out to see if anyone has experience with this.  And funny thing, as I type this I feel like I've asked about it before! If I have I apologize.  I know I could go look to see if I did but . . . . . . . . I'm lazy Laughing.

    I would definitely go to an optometrist or opthamologist as soon as possible.  Many eye problems can be nipped in the bud if caught early.  Make sure they know your entire health history.

    Jill,

    I have had eye floaters since April of 06 just shortly before finishing chemo.  I really think that steriods have something to do with this.  I had my eye doctor check them out and he said they were floaters and he had no concerns with them.  I have no headaches with this...sometimes they are there and other times there not...have gotten use to them.

     I remember the first time I saw them I kept trying to reach for the bug  that I thought was in front of my eyes.LOL.

    Still good to get it checked out!

    The eye dr didn't see anything.  He said they might be opular (sp) migraines without the headache.  I had done some reading and that was one option.  We'll watch and see.

    Well, I'm 54 now, and since I was about 13 I've had these vision things occasionally...  At age 13, I had Xrays of my head and saw a neurologist, who didn't find anything or tell me about anything.  I'm surely no crazier  now than I have been my entire  adult life. 

     Sometimes they interfere with  seeing: they can interfere with seeing the blinking lights at  the optometrist's when they are testing your field of vision.  A couple of times they happened at work and was at the center of my field of vision.I had to look at the writing on the paper offset.  After a few hours they went away.  Sometimes they look like a fuzzy repeat of a prominent feature I'm looking at: for example the shape of a doorway, but in aqua rather than brown.   

    Maybe its due to stress, I don't know.  I did read an old book at a major medical university that mentioned migraine auras without headaches. In my case, its extremely unlikely to be due to mets as I have LCIS and nothing worse. I've been on tamoxifen since 2006.

    Glad you got it checked out with the eye doc.

    I've had eye floaters on a off for years.  I'm very nearsighted.  Suddenly one saturday they were REALLY bad...different.  I finally call the ophtalmolgist and met him at the office.  He gave a very, very good eye exam...looked real well into my eyes.  I was diagnosed with vitreous detachment.  I still see the suckers.  I had to go back and have a recheck.  Also, my onc's PA decided I should have an MRI.  No mets.  I will be going back to the eye doctor soon.  It's been about a year now.  So, I don't think you have anything to worry about.
