Having problem with posting layout, etc.

Since the new site design, every time I post, the first letter of the first word gets separated from the body of text and I can't figure out how to change it.  Also, for some reason, the first part of my last post had a larger font size than the second paragraph.  Can you even change font size?

The other thing I miss is that, although I needed to log in each time I turned my computer on, the old program remembered the topics I had previously read.  This time, it's as though every post is new each time I log on.  Is that a glitch or I am not doing something right?

    Jeanne, I'm having layout problems too.  Mine I think are different from yours.  I'll try to give some examples:

    If I make a list and use a carriage return at the end of each line, the items in the list are spaced too far apart:

    Item #1

    Item #2

    Item #3

    Item #4

    If I create the same list and type it up the same way, but highlight the list and use the "unordered list" button along the top of the compose box, the list gets all messed up.  Here's the same list, created the same way, and then modified with "unordered list".  In my "compose" window, the list collapses so the spaces are gone, but when it's posted, the list ends up as a line of items.  I hope this works:

    • Item #1
    • Item #2
    • Item #3
    • Item #4

    If I click the "unordered list" button before I type the very same list, this is what I get:

    • Item #1
    • Item #2
    • Item #3
    • Item #4

    Also, sometimes using one of the formatting buttons (like "unordered list" or "Italic") makes the font size smaller and causes the font color to grey out.  I've noticed that nearly all the text of Tender's posts are written in a tiny, grey font.  Why is that?

    Note added in edit:  In the 2nd and 3rd lists I've typed above, note that the listed items are squeezed over to the right-hand side of the screen and they are no longer formatted on separate lines like I typed them.  Also, the print is very, very small.  That's what happens with the "unordered list" function--even though the button for that function shows items listed on separate, bulleted lines.

    Another note added in edit:  No matter how many spaces (carriage returns) I insert between the 2nd and 3rd lists and the paragraphs of text (above), the posting layout defaults to what you see on the screen--all the spaces are removed, and the faulty lists are run together with the text that follows. Obviously, something is wrong.

    I think there are a few problems with the compose box. My preference would be that the compose box displays our posts as near as possible to the final, submitted post. There is a difference in text size (compose box is smaller) that makes it more difficult to read. I have noticed some posts coming through grey (like you said about tender's) and am still noticing posts that have the html formatting tags showing throughout.

    I am sure the mods/admins are prioritizing the issues and will get to it eventually. They really snapped to it with the sign-in/password box problems.  I must say that there really have been few problems with the changeover this time. They must have spent a lot of time working on it!

    I would like to hear from the mods about this so we know that they are understanding our concerns and problems. I don't mind waiting for action as long as I know we're not being ignored!

    I noticed that the site admins just posted to the "Improvements" thread to say they're working on the hot-links issue.  So, they are still reading and reacting to our suggestions.  That's good news!
