tamoxifen with grade 3?

 

Tamoxifen works as a blocker of blood estrogen activity on any potential breast cancer cell. It has been used for decades, in many a grade three patient, with excellent results. 

 

The aromatase inhibitors, Arimidex, Aromasin and Letrozole (AI's), all work by inhibiting the conversion of androgens to estrogens. They are very effective also in all grades of ER+ breast cancer.

 

Different countries and even oncologists and patients within the same country have differing views on which of these two classes of hormonals to use initially. It is said that the AI's are slightly more effective (a few percentage points) in lowering risk of recurrence if started initially as hormonal therapy. As the AI's are found to be associated with bone loss and significant joint symptoms (the latter in about 30% of AI users), many feel Tamoxifen are the right choice initially.
