Amoena 126 Sizing

Options

I would like to order the Amoena 126 for summer use and to keep pinned in some of my old bras (pre-mastectomy) to throw on quickly.  I understand that they run smaller than indicated on the size chart.  Pre-mastectomy I was a 36C wearing good old Playtex Cross Your Heart.

I was fitted with the Amoena Natura in Size 5 which brought me down to a B cup.  However sometimes I miss my old size, so this is one of my excuses to buy the 126s.. Any idea which size would be best --possibly a 7?  I will be buying these mail order for the best price since my insurance will not be paying for these.

I wanted to be a 34B and have found the size 4 126 forms work best for me. I recently tried the Natura and the right size for me to be a B cup in that form would also be a 4. If the size 5 Natura makes you a B, the size 5 126 would probably also make you a B. So it does sounds as if a size 6 or 7 in the 126 form might work for you to go a little bigger.

Bear in mind that not only does the projection increase slightly with each size increase, but the dimensions of the triangle also increase. For my 34 band width, the biggest 126 I could wear would be a size 5. Any bigger is too big for the width of my chest. So for your 36 band width, possibly anything bigger than a size 7 would be too wide.

Make sure to find an online place that will allow you to exchange the forms if you don't like the size. By the way, I mostly wear my 126s in a size 4 but in one of my bras the size 3 fits better (it's definitely an A cup, but sometimes that works fine). So, you might eventually want to have two sizes--one to make you a B and another that restores your prior C size.

Barbara makes a good point here. I was unable to find a 126 that fit me. My rib cage is small, 32, so I could only fit the smaller sized forms but they didn't have enough projection to match my remaining breast.

I'm a 36C and wear a size 7 Amoena form.  I tried a 6, which was correct according to their size chart, but it was definitely a B cup on me.  I ordered from Metro Medical, which allows returns.

I'm a 36 large A/small B, and I'm using a size 6 in the 126.  I could actually use a little more projection in the bra, and I put a little fiberfill behind the form in the pocket so it matches my breast.  However, it matches when I use it in a shelf-bra camisole.  I ordered one in a 7 to see if it would match better, but the width was too wide, even though the projection wasn't that much more then the 6.  I was really surprised that they ran that small.  I had to go 2 sizes up from what I originally ordered, which was a 4.

I'm a 34 A/B and use a 5 in bras, and  a 6 in some bathing suits.  I'm flat/concave, so I get "bra cups" to put behind the 126 for a little more projection.

IOLBinNJ --"I'm flat/concave, so I get "bra cups" to put behind the 126 for a little more projection."  Are these like the Amoena style 197 - oval nylon inserts?

    Hi ladies,

I'm a single LB mastectomy and a size 32AA. I bought a 126 in a size 1 to wear over my natural breast to make it look a little fuller and as good as my size 1 prosthetic.

just another use for the 126! Wink

    Montanagal,

I use the Amoena 183 for projection behind the 126.

I ordered and received the Amoena 126.  Boy, they do run small as stated.  I ordered a size 7 which is the same size as my Amoena Natura Lite size 5.  These give me a 36B.  I am playing with them putting some foam behind them, using different bras, etc. to get different looks/projection.  By putting foam behind them, I can use my old 36C bras.  As stated by others, any bigger size causes the whole prothesis to get too wide.  The most comfortable fit so far has been to use them in a 36C bra, but pinned/tacked toward the center so they don't rub under my arms since they are not tapered.  Hope this may help others.
