    Hi girls,

A relatively new comer to the site and found some canadian girls. I am looking for anyone with experience in oncology in the interior. It is a cold but glorious day here in the okanagan.

hi wetcoast.... I wanted to bump this up so you may get some more responses.

A get together in the Vancouver area is being planned for  July or August.  There are a few people from the interior that will probably be coming.

Send me your e mail address and I can keep you informed.

    Take care

    Hello Hi5,

I went to Vernon for chemo & surgery and Kelowna for my rads. I completed all treatment in June 2004.

    Hi Wetcoast,

Sorry about misdirecting my comment to Hi5. How are you feeling?

I wish I was on here earlier, I see you did the Kytril for anti-naseau. I wound up on Nystatin for that icky thick feeling of thrush in the mouth. I did the FEC with Dr. Hardy in Vernon.

I am assuming that you and I are probably closer in location then one might think. Feel free to PM me or message me on my website.

The rad techs I met in Kelowna were so amazing...fun..upbeat. Congrats on being in the home stretch!!

One step at a time...and you'll be finshed treatment before you know it. At this time of year, I always rejoice with the thoughts of rebirth. The flowers emerging, the perennials that come back from the depths of winter. I  think of my chemo ending in the spring..and my body emering as new and as fresh as the grass and the flowers.

    Hugss

    Hello everyone,

I'm a Canadian living in Oklahoma and I'm planning on quiting my job, getting a divorce and moving back up north. I havent lived in Canada since I was a child and then lived in ontario. I have given this great though and am now looking for an area in BC that is close to the Washington boarder as my youngest son lives in Kenmore WA. Im thinking Sidney or Victoria area? Im doing this for many reasons, but my main reason is I believe it will be the best move for me/ health wise. My job in the States is very very stressful and my hubby although he is a kind man is an alcoholic. I just cant continue this anylonger. My concern is what if I get up ther and get sick again/ is there long term helth care if your to ill to work? I was dx with IDC in May of 06 and went through 4 AC 4 Tax chemo treatments/then 33 radiation treatments. I was triple neg, stage I, grade 3/ partial mast.

I know this is way more info then anyone needs but I'm really scared and so very tired. Im 55 years old and a grandma of 8. I have a Masters in counseling/human relations and hope work wouldnt be a problem. My plan is to start the process and move this time next year.

Any idea of average cost of small apartment?
I'm sorry Im just jumping in like this but just really could use some help with the system up north/ and job/housing costs.

    Thanks so much

    Myrna in Oklahoma

For your information, the job market in Western Canada is hot hot hot.  Here is a link to the Canadian Government, they have been posting new jobs since the late last year, beginning this year.

There is a head start for you.  My sister sold everything last year (1 year September) and moved to BC Coquitlam area (from Alberta).  She is ecstatic, as she loves living there.  Take one step at a time, YOU CAN DO IT!
