    Hi everyone Smile

    My friend is due to start Chemo next week for breast cancer. I wanted to do her a special gift with thoughtful items in it. Here are my ideas so far...bath products, book, magazines, something to do that's crafty e.g. teach yourself beading, a photo gift of her with my son, ginger tea for naseau

    I'd love your thoughts on the items so far and if you have anything else you can think of that might help cheer her up or keep her occupied that would be great too

    Dear Rachel,

                        Your ideas sound great!  All I would add is keep in mind the long run...as the treatment can go on for some time and then even when all is done, it can take another year for the one receiving treatment to feel well, even though they may appear to be looking good and back to themselves.  It all takes a toll physically and emotionally.

                         I started out with the gifts but at some point switched over to cards and notes, phone calls and lunch out every so often. It's been 3 years!

                          You are a kind and caring friend, that will mean the world to them more than any particular item.

    Thanks for the advice May54. I am saving a few of the ideas for later on.

    We are going to see her this morning and take her for lunch. If I am honest I am scared for her but this isn't about me so I have my best supportive head on. She starts chemotherapy tomorrow.

    Hello Rayshine,

     You read my mind! My mom starts chemo on Thurs & I was wondering about what her appetite might be like... I've been arranging meals for her, but will she still want to eat? Suggestions would be appreciated. I like the gift basket idea... let me know if other ideas come to mind! Hang in there~ this is really hard, I know.
