Yesterday I was out riding my bike when Kelsey my daughter called and left me a message to tell me I got an award in the mail from the race for the cure run I did last weekend in Moline IL. I was shocked...

After the race I stuck around and watch most runners and walkers come in than took off and went for a bike ride with a friend later that day.  I had an ok run but knew it wasn't fast enough for the regular age div.

My reward was for 1st place in the masters survivors div (women age 40 - 54).  I didn't realize they had seperate rewards for survivors.  Man I could kick myself for not sticking around for the rewards

here's the rest of my stats from the race...

overall place: 425 out of 2619
age div place: 23 out of 172
gender place: 163 out of 1891
    time: 28:20
    pace: 9:09

Not only did I do well but also two friends of mine DJ Fish & Fran Riley both won in their div

Next weekend I'm doing the Timber City Adventure Race with one of my Fever River Teammates. It's a 8 mile canoe, 14 mile bike and 5K (3.1 miles) run.

We won last year hopfully we can again this year : - )

    Thanks ladies...

I got some more great news to share...

This weekend I participated in the TCAR ( timber city adventure race ) with my Fever River teammate Bob.  It starts out with a 8 mile canoe, 14 mile bike and ends with a 5K run (3.1 miles).  We were smoking on the canoe only 2 canoes kept up with us which was a 2 guys in one canoe and a single guy in the other.  We passed many canoes that took off in the 5 minute heat before us.  I don't have the exact splits yet but I think it only took about an hour and 10 minutes to do the 8 mile canoe.  I have to admit my exit from the canoe wasn't the greatest.  When we got to the canoe out area several canoes were also trying to get out.  Long story short I got a little (up to my waste or chest I don't remember exactly) wet and finally remembered to grab the canoe and take it to the cone area where we could drop it and run to our bikes and get ready for the 14 mile ride which starts out with a steep hill.  I didn't have many bikers pass me and when this one I guy did I got him back on the steep down hill.  We stuck together for the longest time on the straight stretch but he finally got me on the up hill.  I just kept thinking he's probably thinking how and the heck is she keeping up with me on that old Schwinn but somehow I do good on that bike : - ) .  It was great passing a lot of bikers ahead of me.  When I got to the highway I did have to wait a little while before I was able to cross and drop my bike and switch shoes to take off for the run.  According to my bike computer which it may be off a little my bike time was 48 minutes and 55 sec.  Average speed 17.8 and max was 39.3 (dang I didn't quite get to 40 you girls know I love those downhills).  During my run I just kept thinking of the 4 friends I have out in Montana doing a race of a lifetime.  Primal Quest which is a 10 day adventure race where they only stop for an hour here or there and keep moving along.  I'm so proud of them they are all doing great.  So everytime I felt a little tired I just kept telling myself this is nothing compared to PQ.  I finished the run in about 30 minutes.  The whole race only took me approx 2 hours and 35 minutes which was 7 minutes faster than my time last year : ).  Our average time together was 2 hours and 31 minutes, I was stoked to find out we got 1st place in the mixed racing div : - )
