    Roxy,

I was also tested for the p53 gene bu† it came back neg, much to my surprise.  I think that it is still a crapshoot either way.  You are just more prone to certain cancers if there is a defect in that gene.

Are any of your family members being tested?

    Roxy,

I tested positive for p53 - Li Fraumeni Syndrome.  I've had thyroid cancer-thyroidectomy; tubal cancer-hysterectomy; and breast cancer-bi lat mastectomy.  I am optimistic about living a long time.  I picture myself in my 80's and 90's.

My Dad has Li-Fraumeni as well.  He was given 6 months to live 44 years ago.  He has survived 5 primary cancers and led a full and long life.

Early detection and healthy, happy living seem to help.
