Does anyone know how to get help. I have an appointment on a mamovan and I can feel a lump but affraid I will die because I am poor and have no insurance. I live in Las Vegas and work as a server and love my 2 kids to death but just dont have any money.

I can barely pay my bills much less pay to see a doctor. I dont even have access to insurance.

    Hi there,

I found two possible sources for you:  Lake Mead Hospital offers low cost mammograms - around $65... but I'm sure if you tell them your financial situation they will help - address: 1409 E. Lake Mead Blvd.  Tel: 657-5551.

I would also call the LV branch of the American Cancer Society:

1325 E. Harmon Blvd.  tel: 798-6877.  Tell them your situation and see if they can recommend a doctor who will help you and any other free or low-cost services like babysitting for your kids, help around the house, etc.  I'm sure you'll find there's more help out there than you think.  Don't lose hope!!

    Good luck to you.

    Mompoolplayer,

I have collected bc assistance links on my wikispace. You can visit it by copy/pasting the address from my signature line. There might be some help for you there.

Also, EVERY state in the US has their own version of the BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER CARE PROGRAM. More information about who is eligible and how to sign up can be found through your local Health Department or Social Services Department. In my state, one must be seen by a specific doctor BEFORE they will cover any services.  It is important to follow their rules to the letter if it turns out that you would need further care/services for bc.

    Good luck to you!

    (((HUGS)))

There is a special medical assistance program for breast and cervical cancer patients in every state. Here is the link to the basic eligibility guidelines for this program in Nevada.

    http://www.hrsa.gov/reimbursement/states/Nevada-Eligibility.htm

To get this medical assistance, you need to get screened and diagnosed by a Nevada Women's Health Care Connection clinic.  Here is the link where you can find the nearest local clinic to you for the free screening and diagnostic tests. They list the income guidelines on this link.

For a family of three persons, the income guideline is $42,925 a year.

After reading over the rules here, it appears that Nevada restricts this free medical assistance to  women who are 40 years of age and over. I hope you are over 40 years old. In Pennsylvania where I live, the age limit for this free medical assistance program is any woman under the age of 65.

The only reason I know how to look for the specific information and programs is because I worked for 29 &1/2 years as a bilingual social worker in the Department of Public Welfare in Pennsylvania. Needless to say, I'm very familiar with filling out government paperwork.

The provider list which shows the Women's Health Connection Clinics in Las Vegas that do the diagnosis and help you file your application for the free medical assistance is at the following link.
