Decorators.... Opinions on a smaller apt space

Hi Gals:
I posted a while back
am moving, d. sizing etc
almost moved
however, would ask for any ideas
I have a small galley kitchen
and am thinking might like to
put something at the door or NOT
THE ONLY thing I can see going
there are those beaded curtains
thought about using my lace table cloth
as a sort of Valance at the top of the
frame.. hmm.. but not sure
Any ideas are welcomed
as my head is swimming
with boxes right now
I really dont want to
incur any expenditures
uncessarily.. and maybe it can just be
left. as the gally is so small
Hope 1st Summer day is good to all!

Remember the line from The Birdcage (with Robin Williams)? They are getting the house ready for the prospective in-laws' visit and the houseboys are bringing all sorts of fou-fou.
"Subtract, don't add!"
Maybe all you need is a nice view into the kitchen. Neat and clean counters, colorful backsplash, or whatever your eye falls on from the hall or main room should be pleasing. No need to camoflage the kitchen.
Do as I say, not as I do. LOL

I was recommended to completely unpack, and get rid of all the stuff I shouldn't have even moved, live with it for a while: 2 mos. and THEN, begin to decorate----having had time to sit in the room, bathe, or cook in it, and pull together my thoughts on how I wanted to paint, hang, or what ever.
Waiting also gives you time to reflect on the things you brought with you and decide how or if to use them.
Prettiest shower curtain I've seen was a set of lace curtains, backed by an inexpensive liner, either plastic or that new tightly woven fabric that hotels are using(reduces mold and is washed easier)
I always begin with the bathroom---it's the cheapest room to redecorate. then I go to the bedroom, kitchen, and finally, living room or where I'll be the most.
I feel that the longer i'm in a space, the more ideas I get and am able to pull it all together, say with the same wall paint, an almond or various shades of green, or blue or what ever. That gives continuntity to the whole home.
I love to look thru magazines and clip pics of what I like, even just the way a stack of books is displayed on a fireplace. Or that the books are topped with a sea shell.
And I agree that if you have an opening to the kitchen, leave it open, makes it all seem larger.

Hi there:
Sorry these posts.. coming on in duplicate
again...
Yes, I believe one should let the dust settle
You are pooped from the move, and prone
to buying items not needed or suitable
I am .. taking a studio, while awaiting a l bedroom
but it is fairly large.. have quite a lot in it
a love seat, big off white chair and a victorian chair
then my bed.. LOL>> soo..
will be fine for the time being.. till the larger unit
comes up..
I don't mind at all..
Dotti, re the shower curtain
yesterday I had 2 lace tablecloths in there
was going to make a curtain, but dont want to sew it
and have a liner in already
Thanks Abba..) keeping that counter clear
is a project for me, I either have oh, knives
or spoons out, something. This will be a challenge for me
now. My friend loves the new space and says it reminds her
of a v. small condo.. So good for her!!!
No rugs, which is great for me, as I am allergic
bye for now, I better finish this packing
Sierra
just a nice bowl of fruit on the counter
or.. a bowl of my fav candy.. licorice allsorts LOL
or jubes
Sierra)) LOL
