How do women get through it?

I am starting Taxol, Carboplatinum & Herceptin in two weeks. I am scared to death. I got my port a few days ago. I feel like saying forget it b/c it's adjuvant. Does anyone else feel like " if it's not broke, don't fix it?" i already had bilateral mast. I have been tortured enough already but I want to live. How do people get through this??? All I do is cry or get mad and pout. Or eat. Chocolate helps...

Hi Pink!
I am finishing my CMF chemo in a few weeks and could NEVER EVER have done it w/out the support of this board and the wonderful friends you will make on it, who will cheer you on, give you courage and lend you angels to watch over you.
I personally ramped up my sense of humour. You have said the single most important phrase "I want to live"...well, this is the crap you have to just get thru to do that. Put your head into the "warrior goddess" mode and instead of saying "How do I get thru this" try to choose to say "Oh yeah? Dont f&** with me, bc". Take it on, head first. You have already won if you do that.
Personally, I laughed at it. I told it "oh really. You think I'm going to die over a few chunks of fat on my chest?" Wrong. I watched alot of Craig Ferguson, kept my life as normal as possible (I know you are thinking now, what? Normal? It is possible, around the other stuff)
Go ahead and eat chocolate. I reccomend large doses. So what. It's not like you are diving into the jack daniel's.
You'll do it, you can do it, you are doing it. One step at a time, OK?
Hang in there kiddo, you have come to the right place.
love to you

Oh my..I remember wanting to turn back...how could I possibly do chemo?
I also remember those feelings disappearing after the first treatment. It's that unknown that is scary. Chemo is hard. It's not fun. It's tough but once you get started, you just keep going and realize it's do-able. I will admit I had a very hard time on the first part of my chemo but I'm here...almost 3 years since diagnosis. I feel good.
Good luck. I agree..it was the discussion board that got me through it...
