Norm - thanks for thinking of me.  Haven't posted lately as I am feeling the ses from last Tues. chemo. This is a different chemo and I didn't know what to expect but its about the same.   Have  been sleeping a lot.

I was a single mom from when the girls were 6 & 8, until they were 15 & 17. I owned three Hallmark card shops, so you can imagine the hours I put in around Thanksgiving untill Chrisstmas.  I haven't  thought of this in years, but you know what  I used  to do?  Two weeks  before Thanksgiving  and  after  Halloween ,  I would fly to Ft. Lauderdale (late 70,s) and rest or do anything I wanted to do for five days.  Maybe I would sleep in, maybe go out for an expensive lunch or dinner, maybe read a book on the beach all day.  Why don't you rent a car and do some exploring?  Visit your family a few days, go for a few days.  Treat yourself, Norm, you so deserve it.  Make it more than a family visit.  i know you like to drive, so go!

Thanks everyone for the prayers and thougts.  I'll post again when I feel better.  I had forgotten what "the fog" felt like.

    Wonderful news about Puppy.

Joy. It's good to hear from you. Thanks for making the energy to check in and give us an update. I'm thinking that KimberSIS is the best light to guide you thru the fog and back out into the sunshine.

I second the motion -- Norm create some good times for yourself, whatever sounds like fun.

My hubby found a spot on the web where they told about renting a Harley for a day or two on Aruba. We may do that..... will see when we get there, if the place warrents.

Hi Joy- Looks like you posted during the site's hiccup phase. Glad to hear from you and to know that you're coming out of the fog slowly.  So how many treatments will you have of this new cocktail? 6 total I thought, but you had one, then it was changed, so you should only have 4 more, correct?  I feel for you, gal.  I soooo remember the fog as it was only 8 short weeks ago that I had my last chemotini. Hang in there.

Wow, you were a single mom, and you owned three Hallmark stores? That's a load on the plate!  What a great idea to treat yourself and prepare for the holiday onslaught with a vacation that was all about you!  One smart cookie, you are!

Deb- Whoohoo on the good news all around. No lung or thyroid concerns, and a scooter to help you get around to boot!  I'm with Faith, I'm doing the scoot scootin footsieLaughing for you, I'm so pleased about your news.

Faith- Yep, today was relief day!!!!!  Read below:

    Afternoon Angelwatchers,
Well, there was a snafu with the cleaning service, so had to reschedule for next Tuesday. Oh well, another chance to take myself out to a movie since Greg can’t take time off next week to go with me.

The movie we saw yesterday while I thought the house was being cleaned was, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. It was not as good as the first two in my opinion, but I certainly see the draw for the younger audiences getting them all set for a new Indy.  It wasn’t a bad movie, it just didn’t have the same allure as the first two for me.

So, I’m taking my sponge bath getting ready this morning and notice that some little creature had walked down my right side and just taken a bit every few steps of so all the way down. Doesn’t itch, just raised bumps all in a line. No squished bugs in the bed, so he definitely had his fill and left without so much as a thank you. Man, I hope he doesn’t invite his friends over tonight.

Anyway, Greg and I went out to breakfast this morning at one of our favorite places in Sacramento. While sitting at a window table enjoying the beautiful day, an older balding guy with neatly trimmed graying hair, a t-shirt and shorts went riding by on a red beachcomber with a basket in the front…made me smile.

After breakfast, it was off to the ps to get the tubes removed. What a relief!!!!! I still have restrictions as far as lifting and pulling ect… but I can sleep on my side and take a shower now. Yippee!!!!

Hope you are all enjoying a beautiful day. I know Norm is off on his trip. Have a great time, Norm!

    Good Morning Gals,

Thankfully the biter didn’t bring his friends in for a feast last night, but the rash from the Tagederm has arrived. I have a nice square patch of red rash on either side of my body where the tubes once resided.  Ahh well, it isn’t like I’ll be struttin’ around in a bikini or anything for awhile.  The good news…there won’t be any further need of any kind of adhesive upon my body…other than a port flushing Bandaid, which stays on for such a short length of time…like 20 minutes tops before I yank it off. I see the breast surgeon on July 1st , so I’ll be asking her when that port can come out.

Oh, and may I say my shower this morning was fabulous. Sleeping on my side last wasn’t happening though as I have internal stitches under each breast due to the lift that felt like they were pulling when I tried. Those may need a little more time to heal before I attempt that full on sleeping on the side thing.  I can do a partial thing though, and that is at least something better than on the back all night.

Take care all, and have a great weekend. We will be leaving around 3pm to pick up twinsis and her beau before heading out to Murphy’s for the concert. We’ll be staying the night and coming home the back way through the Amador and Fair Play wine country to pick up our Fleur D’Lys  wine shipment.  I'll check back in on Sunday.

    Hello Angel Watchers,

Kimberly, sounds like a wonderful week end. I used to travel to Ca. a few times a year and just loved it there.  Always so much to do  and see and the wine and food!  So glad you are feeling better.

Debbie, glad you are feeling well  also.

Norm,  I am praying so hard that you will find something that excites you.   Please use this trip as a real vacation and get out and see  and  do things  you would not ordinarly  think to do.  Can't wait to hear.

This is short.  it's late and could not get to sleep.  Faith it was you I was thinking of.  Thanks for all your kind words.  Mainly wanted to wish you "bon voyage'.  Have a wonderful time  Aruba bound!  Send us a picture if you can.

I am feeling stronger every day now.  May actully get out of pajamas tomorrow.  We'll see. For sure will be thinking of you on the beach come Monday.

Angel watchers......... it is with great joy-in-my-heart that I contemplate departing on a real adventure. An adventure for my very spirit. I long for this journey to jump-start my "being." I long for my heart to be awakened and am trusting the beauty about to be savored to bring me a new level of understanding.

    And I've packed my sunscreen!!

Last night as I was searching for an image on the web, I found this picture -- which takes my breath away, even more, now in the light of day. I share it here as well, in the hopes that it will amaze and delight you. That it will make you blink and giggle. That upon seeing it, you will trust that all is right-with-the-world.

There are indeed angels among us. There are also sprites and fairies, gnomes and dancing trees:

I leave this image with you as I finish my packing..... I will spend the week searching for trees-that-can-dance, rocks-that-can-sing and waves-that-can-speak.

Hold each other up. I'll miss you, but speak to you on the heavenly channel.

So we arrived in Sonora around 5:00 only 2 hours after we left Folsom. Sonora is an old mining town that still has its old cowboy charm. We ate at Outlaws BBQ and Steakhouse…a coffee shop setting with some pretty darn good ribs.  The concert was in Murphy’s about 16 miles from Sonora. It was great. Los Lonely Boys opened for Sheryl Crow, and then she played for almost two hours straight. She is a beautiful woman with a talented group backing her up.  The venue was a winery - not such great wine IMO- with a 6,000 person capacity outdoor amphitheater.  Besides the food and drink tents, there was a group of young people giving Free Hugs...how fun was that getting 'gentle' hugs... since I just had surgery and can't be squeezed too tightly yet...from a line of fabulous young people?  We saw the same guy with a different recruit at the Farmer's Market in Senora where we stayed the next day and got more hugs!!!!  I also had several people just walk up to me over the two days we were gone and tell me how beautiful I was…just made me all warm inside.

We spent time in Murphy’s yesty morning after breakfast in Sonora across for our historic hotel- The Sonora Inn. There wasn’t a plumb wall in site. Our room literally had a slant in the floor with the windows being the uphill side. The colors were that slate blue and dusty rose color of the 80’s country crafty phase and white trim. The carpet was thin and dark blue, and the bath was two steps up from the room. I thankfully didn’t kill myself in the middle of the night trying to get to the potty.  It seems we are destined to stay in rooms with character this summer.

In Murphy’s I bought some Lavender Linen spray- love to spray it on my pillow before sleep- , some homemade olive oil we got to put into a bottle from the cask, an aroma therapy candle (D1 got me thinking that was a great idea), and a new Euro purse and wallet. I’ve had a hard time carrying my purse with my gimpy arms, so the Euro purse is thin and slips over the head and lays flat on your hip so it can’t easily be snatched.  Much more comfortable.

Afterwards, we headed to Fairplay to pick up our wine shipments. I hadn’t been in a long time.  We stopped in Sutter Creek on the way for lunch and to check on a lot we own. There was a fire in the canyon just below our lot.  It looked like the fire dept had a handle on things and that our lot and the houses surrounding were not in any danger.

The scenery along our drive was just beautiful. We made it to the winery just as they closed, but seeing it was us, the owners had no problems hanging with us to pick up wine and taste a little.

We got home, after dropping off my twinsis and her beau, around 8pm. We hit 8 counties in one day!

So, what’s been up with you all since I left?  Hmmmm…

Joy- Glad to hear you're feeling up to possibly getting out of your jammies.  Personally, I think having jammy days are incredibly rejuvinating reminding us that nothing has to be done right now. I'm in my jammies right now and it is after one in the afternoon, here.

Deb- I'm sorry the prednisone is not treating you well. Steriods are no fun.  However, your sunshiney attitude is sure to keep you going even if it is just at a turtle's pace. Imagine the things you'll take notice of at that pace that so many of us just zoom by in our rabbit hurry.

Norm- Hope you're having a relaxing visit with the clan. Look forward to hearing how you spent your time and what gifts  (spiritual, not literal, although literal gifts are nice, too0 were bestowed upon you while away.

Oh, Faith....I love this picture and imagining the aliveness of her dancing in the breeze.

Blessing on your journey, and we'll miss you while you're gone.  Enjoy the search for dancing trees, singing rocks, and surf that speaks.

My dad lives in San Francisco, so I’ll be calling him to say Happy Father’s Day. What did you all do today?

    Hi Angelwatchers,

Thanks for the poem SIS Kimberly.  Gives us all something to think about and realize we are all more alike than not.

I am finially out of the fog.  With Taxotere it lasted 8 days, AC (this one) seemed to last 5 days.  So, I'll take that gladly.Tuesday is the day our cleaning lady comes so always a happy day.  We cooked a big country lunch, country fried steak, creamed potatoes, corn on the cob, sauteed zucchine and onions, biscuits and gravy.  Having lived in the south our whole lives, we just have to do that now and then.

Pretty uneventful day.  I worked in the flowers a bit, dh cleaned out gutters then went fishing.  I don't know if I have said, we live across the road from a marina and dock, so he just jumps on his four wheeler and two minutes later he  is fishing.  I  took my golf cart for a little spin late afternoon and visited  some of the neighbors in the camp ground  down the road.  It is a small  campground  full of small campers.  People use them mostly on the week ends, but a few retired people come for the whole summer.  One man and his wife have been coming for 47 years.  So it is fun to see everyone return in May as they are old friends.

Next chem is next Tues. and I am going to try to enjoy every minute between now and then.  I may even try to glass of wine tonight.

Debbie, sorry you are having such a hard time. Wish I lived closer, I love to paint.

Faith, have thought of you today strolling down the beach.  Hope there is a cute little hut that serves some delicious cold drinks.

Puppy, I am still praying for you.  Hope you are feeling stronger.

Norm, I so, so hope you are having fun.  There is nothing like family to comfort you.  Please try to add a little adventure.  Can't wait to hear how it went.

    Sleep well, everyone,

    Joy

Sometimes I think of this little town, Where there is so much love around. You dont have to worry or be blue, Because everyone in this town loves you. You walk down the block, You hear hi how are you or is there anything I can do for you. You can find this town in your heart and share it with friend, They will never depart (from this town in your heart)

    Hi Joy and Deb,

It sounds like things are moving right along for you both in the uplifted spirits dept. WhooHoo!!!!

Joy, so your taste buds are good?  That southern lunch sounded delicious!  Comfort food for sure!!!  Of course, I too couldn't eat like that very often as you pointed out, or I'd be in trouble, but once in awhile couldn't do too much damage, eh?

I like the sound of Heart Town where everyone cares about their neighbors and community. I know a few angel watchers who could call Heart Town their home.

Faith, Puppy, and Norm: Missing you, but knowing that whatever you're doing or wherever you may be that you are exactly in the right place doing exactly what needs to be done to meet your needs.

    Sleep well all,

    Angel Walkers.........

We have safely returned from paradise and I have been given a whole new lease on life, from all of the tranquility I bottled while on that exotic island.

Joy & Footie, KimberSIS & Puppy and our dear Norm who brought our little family together:

I said prayers for each and all as I walked along the shore. Deeply, sincerely happy to have such an adventure -- so grateful. So delighted. So glorious. So restful. Rejuvinating. Incredible, simply incredible.

PuppyLOVEY -- what an absolute thrill to return to the boards and find your picture and hugs to all. Glory be, hallalujah. Glory be. It's so kind of you to take the energy to post to us.

Footie & Joy: you're each in the midst of so much. Know that I send you tropical blessings of mercy, braided with bright yarns and sealed with sand castles.

KimberSIS: happy travels to you and your twinsie. I just love that you're so close and such buddies. Makes me smile.

Norm: eager to hear what's fillin' your days...................

Debbie, hope you are feeling better and had a good week-end.

Puppy, so very happy to see you feeling well enough to post again.  I will continue to pray for the return of your strength.

Kimberly, have a wonderful time.  My Aunt and Uncle lived in Chicago for many years before they retired to Florida.  My sister and I used to ride the "City of New Orleans" up to visit  them every summer.  My grandfather worked for 52 years for the Illinois Central railroad, so we had plenty of supervision.  The porters, conducters even the waiters in the club car knew we were "Mr. Mills's granddaughters" and we absolutely knew to be on our best behavior.

    What fun memories!

Faith, it sounds fabulous.  Can't wait to see pictures.  There is nothing more relaxing to me than the beach.  So glad to hear you are rested and refreshed.

Norm, thinking of you and hoping you are having fun.

The weather was beautiful here this week-end, not as hot as it has been.  Don't think I have mentioned it, but our dauther and at the time 5 month old gd came for a visit two years ago and are still here.  We had a camper in the campground I have mentioned and sort of  used it for a guest house and that is where they have been staying.  Needless to say, they have outgrown.  We have a three car garage at the back of our property that we used only for storage.  So, we have just finished  turning the upstairs into an efficiency apt. and they are moving in tomorrow.  The tile  was laid  Fri. so  toilet and sink to be  installed tomorrow.  Turned out to be a little bigger project than we envisioned, (seperate septic tank, propane gas water heater becuase not enough electric from the house, etc.) But, it's all done and they have a home.  The garage is even on a seperate lot so in case we need to, our house or that one can be sold seperately.  We will just continue slowly now with the downstairs and eventually it will be kitchen, living room, bedroom and another bath.  There is a small kitchen in the upstairs.  One of the first things dd said after dx was, we need to forget about the apt. for now, and I told her life goes on and we are not putting anything on hold.  So glad, and also SO glad it is finished.

Hope everyone had a great week-end.

    Hugs,

    Joy

    P.S.

My 1/2 in. long hair began falling out today.  Doesn't bother me, I am getting used to this look.  Ten minutes notice, and I am out the door.

    Next chemo this Tues.

Joy, I had long hair and had it cut for locks of love. I was happy that they could make a wig for a child. Then my hairdresser shaved me and oiled my head to keep it from getting dry skin. Now I wear a hat even though I have hair. God bless you threw this time and give you strength to get threw. I was alone and drove myself to chemo and out to eat every time.  Please take care, Sending everyone an angel hug. Debbie
