Surgery scheduled for August
Comments

Hello ladies,
I have decided to go ahead with the PBM and have scheduled the surgery for late August. I want to thank all of you for the incredible support that you have given me throughout this process. As we all know, these decisions are not easy, but this is the right one for me.
I'm going to be on a little hiatus from the boards for a while so that I can focus on some other things that need my attention. Actually, I'm going to have to spend less time on the computer in general in order to get everything done that I need to this summer. I'll probably pop over to the surgery and prosthetics forums as it gets closer to the time.
Again, thank you all, and I wish each of you all the best.

Lucky, You will be in my prayers and I'll miss you around here.
Take good care and my best wishes to you in August. I have a friend who had PBM 3 weeks ago and she is doing great--has 4 young kids and is chasing after them already!
Let us know how you are doing from time to time.

I am so glad you found some resolution to the LCIS dilemma. You have helped organize my thoughts about BPMs if that is in my future.
I am glad you are taking the right steps to prepare for this, and to get other necessary things done in your life.
You will be in my thoughts. Know we are all here for you if and when you need us. -
Hi Lucky,
I am 6 days post-op from PBM for LCIS. I have no regrets and am at peace with my new evolving self.
Best of luck with your preparation and surgery.
So long for now.

Hi Carol, I am so glad you are doing well and have peace. My friend ( mentioned above ) feels exactly the same way. May I ask, what made you choose PBM over other treatments (so to speak ). I feel if I am to face repeated bx's, I would consider PBM too.

Hi Misty,
I've had fibrocystic breasts for a few years now. The cysts change with hormonal influences, so they always feel a little different. The actual lesion, LCIS, was not a palpable mass, but was detected in my right breast as microcalcifications on mammogram. This condition increases the chance of invasive breast cancer in either breast. Since lumpectomy was not possible and I'd always live in fear of each new lump, I opted to replace both of them with a safer model. After the PBM, the histopath found LCIS in BOTH breasts. I'm pleased with my choice. Of course, I'm still on pain meds. Check back in a week;)

Sorry about the deletes--somehow I posted the same thing three times!!!! oops!

Hi Carol-best wishes for a speedy recovery! Those pain meds help you heal, so take them as long as you need them.
Hi Misty-I've had the same thing happen to me too. I think it happened when I used the 'preview' feature. My browser may be the cause as I use Safari as my browser (I have a Mac.) I don't know if they've corrected this.
