omg Beth. Your abs are fabulicious! No muffin top for you darlin. Your waist is tiny!!!
-
Beth, you are going to have great results when you finally heal. Your abs and hips already look great, is there any swelling? Sure doesn't look like it.
Hang in and take care of yourself. I wish you a quick recovery - you sexy thing!!
-
well, it could be that I'm choking my torso with this binder. I feel like if I take it off for 15 minutes, I'm losing the tight straight shape-- so I know I need to keep it on for as long as I physically and mentally can handle it.
I didn't show you the gory part tho-- under the steristrips in the back of my hip-- it's pretty gross.
I WISH i had a before picture to show the difference. But yes-- NO MORE MUFFIN TOP!!!!!
-
Okay- back on the hunt for a dress for my engagement party.
Sunday brunch in September-- colors are black, white and pink.
I LOVE THIS-- but of course- it's just the picture
-
Gee, I'm gone for half a day and come back to pics of Beth's belly button. Hey, girl, you look great! You mean the ps sucked out your muffin top??? Ouch!
This calls for a celebration. Get out the swizle sticks and little parasols. LOL Have a great weekend.
-
This dress is cute too- but it looks pretty short...
Yes, tina- no more muffin top. I never had one on the left, only the right. It was ridiculous. I would pull my jeans higher on the right, but not anymore.
-
Looking fantastic!
-
I love the pink and white dress, but $495.00??? I'll bet you could approximate the look with a basic white sheath, a sheer, elastic waist skirt, and a wide but soft belt or sash. You could get creative with fabric.
Esp. love the shape of this softened square neckline.
Of course, you are worth the $495.00 any day..............
-
well the dress is on 45 day back order, and I've already decided to take the photo to a dressmaker... I'm sure I can get it made for less. (and mom said it would be her treat
). I'm going to order the black one, and if I love it, I'll keep it.
More motivation not to eat JUNK!
I've been doing really well for the last 6 days on the eating front, and the no alcohol thing is easy thus far (since I can't leave the house) I'm hoping the PS says I can get back in the gym in one week.
Marin, as I bypassed the cereal this morning (Saturday, Matt makes breakfast) I thought of you, and heard you in my head saying, 200 calories. I had egg whites and one yolk on light 40 calorie soft rye toast with one piece of weight watchers 1 point cheese. Oh-- I gave up all the cheese too.... I'm a cheese aholic. I got rid of everything- the swiss, meunster, babybelle mini's,brie-- you name it-- it's not in my fridge.
just that stupid pack of 1 point weight watchers crap which is so gross I won't really ever use it. (even better)
-
Beth....Your hips and waist look awesome! OMG, those swimsuits will look sweet as hell! Does anything hurt though....it just seems to me that you'd be sore after all that work..? And you must have pretty sensitive skin, huh? That's probably what your porcelain complexion is all about!
And Raye...don't you think that "our" diet is pretty easy to follow? Like I feel as though I'm eating plenty and I really like the taste of everything. When I have more time, maybe I can post the exercises for "sweet cheeks"...they are tough, but I could feel my glutes tightening just reading the directions!
~Marin
-
I had a bagel with butter today and I don't care. I'm having an issue with one of my nipples, and I have to play the waiting game until I see the PS on Tuesday. There's a chance I may lose half of the nipple.
So I ate a bagel, and it wasn't even that good. And I still feel blue, so I shouldn't have eaten the stupid bagel anyway.
Sticking to hummus on rye melba toast for lunch.
-
The dress is very cute, Beth; pink, white and black are one of my favorite color combos! Sorry to hear about your nipple - I hope everything turns out ok. And don't worry about the bagel! You can't be perfect all of the time with your eating.
marin - If you could post the "sweet cheeks" exercises, that would be great. I tried on my new skirted bikini bottoms Saturday. Not too bad, although there is a little muffin top showing - grrrr - got to do those Pilates. Also, a bit of droopy ass going on, hence the need for sweet checks, although I could get on some of the weight machines at the gym for the glutes, there's an idea. ugh.
-
I meant to bring the "Sweet Cheeks" booklet with me to work today so that I could plan my attack on my butt. I'm right with ya there, Raye, with the impending droopy ass....ugh! So I'm absolutely determined to Beyonce-it-up! I even dragged out my tiny, red, boycut exercise shorts and have hung them in my closet so they're smack in my face everytime I go in there. I'm horrified thinking what they'd look like on me right now, but am trying to be very optimistic.
Gap had a sale this weekend on these cute tops I had bought one of in baby blue to impress new guy, P., on one of our first dates. Since I had bought new jeans shorts and little white jeans-type ones at Express before our boating excursion and haven't worn the white ones yet, I bought another Gap top in pink to wear with them. I think it will be a cute look but, hopefully, a tight booty will make it less adorable and lots more delicious
!
Raye...do more oblique work for the muffin top. They really have an impact!

I have found something called Smart Cups by Lipo in a Box http://www.lipoinabox.com/products.htm Click on Smart Cups.
I'm wondering if I could use just one of them in the right side of my regular, old stretchy bra and it would even me out while I'm waiting for nature to take its course??? Has anyone heard of them or used them?
They also have something called Perkies. You can go yourself to see what they are. LOL
Hoping our girl, Beth, is feeling better. We're with you, hon.
-
Tina, the link wouldn't let me view the Smart Cups.
Beth - how are you feeling babe?
-
Tina, I couldn't get to the page.
Beth, I am sorry about your nip, hope it's resolved real soon so you aren't worried about your summer. So far, I haven't even gone and gotten my nipple yet. I am kinda used to it now.
-
I replaced the product link. Just go to http://www.lipoinabox.com/products.htm and Click on the Smart Cups photo. That will take you to a page with them and the Perkies.
-
Tell me why things like "perkies" only come in big sizes. What's a lopsided AA/A cup to do? (Other than what I have done--one very expensive filler.)
-
Hey girls. I'm feeling pretty good- just stressed out about feeling a time crunch for the dress for the engagement party. I've got two and a half months to go-- but there's no shot of even remotely trying on any clothing for the next 2-3 weeks.
I ordered the black Ralph Lauren dress, and I'm hoping in the comfort of my own house, I can gently slip into it with all these bandages, and attempt to see if it fits correctly.
Bummed that those killer suits I ordered won't see the light of day until November...
So- do those of you that live these fit lifestyles that I need to get on board with- have a scale in your house, and if so, how often do you weigh yourself?
-
Beth, one 'diet' (or lifestyle change) I have tried said to weigh yourself every day at the same time, don't worry about daily fluctuations, make a chart and record the weight each day and at the end of the week average the weights together to get your average weight because as we all know our weight can fluctuate several pounds a day, based on our cycle.
I do this and can see changes based on my weekly average not my monthly hormone cycle.

Beth - I don't weigh myself very often - I can tell when my clothes are tight if I am putting on weight and then I'll hop on and check my weight. When I was trying to lose weight; however, I weighed myself once a week - the same time every week - Monday am (yeah, right after the weekend, don't know what I was thinking). Seeing the progress helped me continue eating more healthily.
-
sushanna, I agree with you about the sizes available. I wonder if those things can be cut down or scooped out. It would be nice if they were in stores somewhere so they could be examined.
I was away all day yesterday, having fun with girlfriends. So nice.
Beth, I just read your update on the recon thread and am happy to see you are feeling better. Don't you just love the way stories grow? I like to weigh myself a few times a week, especially when I have been good and think I've lost a bit. My special secret: setting myself up for success. LOL I never weigh myself after I have been naughty. You really do have to weigh yourself with the same type of clothes on, or in your birthday suit, and at the same time of day to get a real feel for weight fluctuation. I find I weigh least around late afternoon, for some reason. Even after having eaten breakfast and lunch. Don't understand that one. But, that being said, you need to follow a schedule.
I think that cutting out or back on alcoholic beverages makes a big difference in my ability to lose as it's not only the calories from the wine, etc. that I'm cutting out but all the junk I tend to eat at the same time. Try that for a couple of weeks and good luck.
-
Hi Marin another thing that adds lift is if the pockets are slightly angled up and seams in the back go into a slight V shape that's what I was told on a TV show and it made sense when they showed the difference also smaller pockets.
If I see any pant 34 with the flaps I will let you know.
And guess what I finally got a pair of City Shorts, black with a cuff and they are really great I love them so much and they were only 39.99 and get this I looked all the way through NW Ontario during my trip and finally found exactly what I wanted at the end of the Road for 39.99 I was thrilled. Now I feel updated it's amazing what one pair of pants can do for a person. Well my mom is finally here have to go. Everyone have a good day can wait to catch up on all the posts.
-
Beth, I do weigh myself on my scales on the same day and time each week when I am trying to lose weight. I think this is important because of the wide discrepancies between scales (the ones at my surgeon's, onc's and PS varied by >six pounds!). I weigh nekkid first thing in the morning after peeing. I have to admit though, that sometimes when I am being really, really strict with my diet and exercise (not recently
) I will weigh myself every day. Generally it teaches me to go back to weekly, because there are such fluctuations due to sodium intake, etc.
I don't know if anyone has ever tipped you off to fitday:
It is a wonderful tool (and does not generate spam or anything) to help you track caloric intake, expenditure, and nutrients and so on. It is only as valid as the numbers you input, so you have to be brutally honest, but it is a great program. Helps me to see when I am not getting the dietary calcium I should be (I do supplement) or not enough monounsaturated fats and too much of my yummy butter. Back when I lifted heavy like a maniac 4x/week and could eat like a lumberjack, I also monitored protein intake there. It's cool to look back and see how eating patterns and quantities have changed for me over time.
Once you input a 'custom food' it saves it for you, which I find extremely useful since I do not eat prepared packaged foods. However, it does have an extensive database of brand name foods that you just need to click on as you eat them and poof you are done!
What with your newly lipo'd sleekness, a little bit of cutting back, fewer cocktails, a few more workouts - I just know you are going to look so slinky in your engagement party dress!

I want to second Lisa's opinion of FitDay, which I also have been using. I've inputted all of my favorite foods or recipes (often grabbing calorie information from other websites). It also helps me decide whether I can splurge or not! Like Lisa, I set custom nutrition goals (min/max on calories, total fat, saturated fat, fiber, calcium and protein). I also use the program to keep track of how much/how often I exercise. I've been pretty good over the past month at getting on the treadmill for ~ 30 minutes at a rapid walking pace. I've gotten into the habit of doing it in the morning ... it has really helped stabilize my moods.
I also weigh myself every day (second thing in the morning).
Since chemo pushed me into *chemopause*, my metabolism has totally changed. I credit FitDay with ensuring that I haven't put on more weight, though I'm still working on losing the six or seven pounds that I added during the taxol (gotta love those steroids!).
Which brings me to a trick I used when I was younger (like Beth's age!). I would eat whatever I wanted up until ~ 2pm in the afternoon. After that, I would only eat raw vegetables and fruit. I would drop 5 lbs in a couple of weeks. I had a pretty active job at the time ... I don't think that I move enough now for that diet/lifestyle to work.
Finally, an addition to Marin's 200 - 300 calorie eating ... FAGE 0% Greek Yogurt. It is so thick and creamy that you don't miss the fat. The small container is ~ 90 calories. I eat it with a cup of berries (strawberries, blueberries and/or raspberries) and a drizzle of honey. Yum! -
Thanks for the tips girls. SOOOO, I just got the ALLOY sale catalogue. And when I say sale, I mean sale. Everything is 75% off. So of course, I went through the catalogue, and circled everything under the sun, b/c with sale, you never know what they will have in stock.

Okay- so the black dress (the ralph lauren one from bloomie's) came today, and it looks GROSS. Apparently it is not for girls with breasts, b/c the ruffled part just makes me look disgusting.
So I already packed it up and shipped it out UPS.
I'm back to the drawing board. I'm so dumb, I didn't print out the picture of the black, white and pink dress that I liked, and wanted to take to a dress maker, and now b/c it was on back order, it's unavailable to search on the web site.... grrrrrrrrrrrrr
Edited to add--- after 30 minutes of searching the internet- I found it. It's a Jay Godfrey Ombre dress, and every store under the sun is sold out in the white/black/pink combo-- but it doesn't really matter, b/c I would need the dress made longer anyway.
Now, with picture in hand, I'm going to try a dressmaker and see where I get.
-
I am doing a happy dance right now.
Today was AMAZING.
I am love with another man. My fabulous dressmaker Jose. So, I made the appt, and went with the picture of the Jay Godfrey white, black, and pink ombre dress.
Of course, we talked all about me and breast cancer, and were like new BFF's from the first minute we met.
There were lots of pictures of celebrities in his dresses, so I was a little nervous but whatever--I only have one engagement party, and one wedding.
He looked at the picture, and talked about how we can change it to make it work for me. We're changing around the colors- so the black will be over my breasts so they don't look ginormous, and the white will be the waist cincher and we're using fuschia silk chiffon for the ombre part, with a black underlay.
I am soooo excited. I go for the muslin fitting next week. It's twice as much as the other dress, but it's custom, and I feel so incredible with this guy.
He's totally making my wedding dress, and we spoke all about it today too.
I'll take pictures at the fitting and keep you updated.
YAY me. He marveled at my breast surgery (although I didn't show him them b/c they are bandaged)and then he asked if I had my nose done-- and didn't believe me when I said no. I just laughed.
