    Hi

I am new to this site and looking for advice.  I found a lump in my right breast it is pretty large.  Had a mammogram then an ultrasound they said it was a mass 3.5 cm long and that I need to see a surgeon I didn't ask many questions because I was kind of in shock. I couldn't get an appointment until Friday with the surgeon now I am freaking out.  They gave me a paper on needle biospy and told me not to take aspirin until after my appointment.  They also gave me a paper on fibroadenoma.  Anyone have any input?

Of course you are scared. Anyone in their right mind would be scared.

Most people can't even hear what the doctor says under these conditions.

I don't know how old you are. Fibroadenomas are very common in younger women. (That means like under age 30 or 40.) Fibroadenoma is a big long name for a benign condition.

Please know that overall, 80% of biopsies are benign. That is a very big number. That will not stop you from worrying though.

Some women find distraction helps. Do whatever you need to do to get you through this time. We are here for you. Feel free to vent or ask questions. Some women prefer to post on the 'Waiting for test results' forum, above, the 3rd one from the top, but feel free to post where you wish.

Yeah, you are in the throws of the scary crap. The no aspirin is so that when they biopsy you don't bleed too much. Very common.

Keep you mind on the positive and don't worry until you have something to worry about. Easy for me to say!

Some times these things work out to be okay. You are doing the right thing. Like leaf said they can be benign.

The good news is that you are being active about this and getting this done.

This site is full of wonderful information. Check out some of the other 'topics'. There is also a section about shrinking the whale. That really helped me.

    HANG IN THERE.

Also avoid taking Nsaids such as Ibuprofen..no fish oil either.  I was given a long list of things NOT to take.

    The needle biopsy is easy.

You have been given good info.  Try not to panic.  Like Leaf said, 80% of these biopsies are benign.

Let us know what happens.  Hang in there.  We're rooting for you!
