Didn't really know where else to go . . .

My mom just told me last night that the results from her biospy came back positive for breast cancer. She said it is IDC and has an MRI scheduled for Tuesday. I am scared out of my mind. I have talked to her about it and stuff but what I really hate is playing this waiting game and not knowing anything. I've done research on IDC but don't fully understand the purpose of an MRI. Also I was wondering how fast do doctors move, meaning, she was diagnosed yesterday how long until they will start doing things, how long till we will have more answers! Thanks in advance to everyone, and God Bless.

So sorry to hear about your mom, things usually move pretty fast. After the MRI (shows size of cancer and will show up anymore cancer in her breast) she will go to a surgeon and an oncologist to set up her treatment plan. Try to be patient, everything goes faster after you know what your plan of action is. Hugs to you and your mom.

I was impressed w/ how quickly my Mom's doctors acted. She even got a second opinion and still had her surgery within a few weeks. The waiting and lack of info is really hard to deal with. When we found out all the details I felt so much better. She doesn't know what her treatment plan will be exactly yet, she is still healing from surgery. I hope this moves fast for you, I know the agony. Best wishes for your mom! HUGS!

Chrissi ~
My mom was diagnosed a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, the surgeon who did the biopsy & established the treatment plan for my mom isn't very forthcoming with information. My mom also has a tendency to shut down & not speak up for herself - so I've really tried to make sure to be her advocate - write questions down, bring them with me to Doctor's appts., etc. Unfortunately, there were a couple times he cut me off & I couldn't really even ask my questions!! This is something I'm noticing...I know there are some excellent doctors out there who will take the time, but if I can offer one thing - it would be that if you don't feel comfortable about information you or your mom have received, or you feel rushed by the medical provider, or you don't feel your questions have been answered, definitely let them know what you need, what your mom needs, & what information you want clarified.
I've also found that it's the "team" of other professionals around us that have taken the most time & been the most helpful...i.e., nurses, social workers, "Wellness Community" (support groups & everything - tons of stuff & all Free!! - I haven't been to my local chapter yet but I'm going next week to check it out & am taking my mom as soon as she's able).
Hope this helps & take care ~
