Good morning you loser babes!
P.S.My hair is growing!!!!!!!
Wow! This thread continues to feed and take off - helping so mant.
Thanks Aylin for starting it!
Happy to report that I lost the 2 lbs I gained at surgery - hospital - water no doubt.
My appetite is too good for my DIEP recovery activity. This should be a pretty tricky
balance to find. You gals may be my only conscience, but I WILL TRY!.
I WILL FEED MY LIONS, so they will leave quickly, yes?

I am healing so quickly, docs want to start rads soon. I'll try to have them out it off as long as possible. Breast tissue is clear, but they found a positive node. I think they're only planning on extended rads field, to include axilla. I'll have more info when I see beloved BS next Monday.
Tigwin - hey. I had two diff. regimens of chemo & a lumpectomy before this mast/DIEP. One regimen of chemo, I was easily able to take weight off. Second regimen (and dead of winter) was harder. I gained about 8-10 lbs. from my first chemo weight. I exercised as much as was comfortable and ate very healthily!!! It made chemo go a lot better I think. So do try & eat more healthy, less caloric. Just pump the green veggies & protein!
Tigwin & Lorena B - yeah - walk, exercise, get tjose endorphins going as much as you can! It helped me with chemo for sure.
I am now within 3 lbs of my weight before starting chemo last September.
I plan to lose at least 5 more than that start weight, but I have a feeling healing from this surgery & rads to follow may slow me up. Waddiya think? Should I be happy to maintain?
Allyson & Aylin,
Just seeing your clacks out there helps me recieve support here. Thanks!
Go ladies go!

Cally congrats on your progress on so many different levels!!
I did my first yoga-recording last night & I feel better just having begun. I'm almost intentionally getting more water -- without making a whole ordeal over it. LOL
Unlimited...... you're doing great. The poster child for the program. Keep it up.
DATO, AWB and Lorena. Keep on keeping on. We'll be here to celebrate when your scale rewards you for all of your good choices.
Think BIG picture ladies. Long term. Wholistic lifestyle. Follow Allyson and Cally into the meadows of progress. whoooooooohoooooooooo.
Trigeek. Looking for you. Putting out an all-points bulletin.

Hopefully my first will be tormoow on the treadmill. I have been very slugish and unmotivated so it helps to hear it is working for you!!! thanks!!

Aylin- where are you? it's just not the same here without you!

Hi gals,
I have been hiding in my cave here. Life threw me so many challenges the past couple of weeks (they are all good ones thank God ! ) that I have not been able to focus on my nutrition and am barely able to hold on to my 7 smileys so did not want to discourage anyone, was watching you all from the sidelines.
I have been keeping my activity levels up luckily.
Our offer on a house got accepted ( closing is on July 2nd) we have to fix our current one before moving out, I suddenly got 2 different job offers and another opportunity. So all is good but you know how it goes, nutrition hmpphh.. my daughters sweet 16 was last night and I relaxed by munching on cheetos yikes !!! and later at night gobbled some cake with my hands.
I also started Tamoxifen which I am suspecting is making me fatigued which worked pretty well cause now I can sleep at night AT LAST !!! But taking a nap and sleeping long hours kind of crammed my busy days.
Once I get things rolling I will hop back on !
In the meantime keep on losin'
I am watchin' !!!
-
trigeek, congrats on the home and jobs !!! Don't beat yourself up everyone needs a piece of sweet 16 cake !!!! I would eat one if I had the opportunity. Just a bit more walking tomorrow to gain the activity points and you are fine. I just had chemo so I a wiped out and trying to control the nausea which is by eating so i have gone 1-2 points over for the last three days but I could have gone 20-30 points over so just taking it one day at a time. Hang in there.
-
Aylin- glad you were willing to peep out of your hiding place. I suggest you come out into the sunlight permenantly but it's up to you of course. We all have ups and downs and the weight loss thing is a lifelong process. Congratulations on the good stresses of the house and job(s). I certainly won't begrudge you the sweet sixteen cake either (says the woman who ate key lime pie AND an ice cream sandwich for dessert yesterday!). I like to "loosen the reins" one day a week, usually on the weekend. Saturday is my hard workout day usually so that tends to work well. It is hard to stay on track when you're busy and tired- sometimes it works for me to cook up a big pot of something and to rely a bit more than usual on semi-prepared or really easy to prepare foods.
We are headed to Las Vegas on Wednesday. I am sure I will have some treats but I am already thinking about how I can find healthy options and not overdo it. Exercise will be no problem- I plan to do lots of swimming and working out while my husband is at his conference.
-
I gained .2 lbs this week--they said don't be discouraged, that's just like staying the same basically. But I was because I thought I'd lost 2 or 3 lbs!!! It gets discouraging when you are being so "good" on the program. I hope to lose it this week. But then we'll be going away on vacation for 6 days and that will be quite a challenge.
-
I finally got to a WW meeting with a friend who has already lost 20 lbs. My weigh-in wasn't a surprise to me since I can't walk past the scales at the Cancer Center without some helpful nurse wanting to record my ever-increasing pounds. So this is my second day counting points (can't manage the CORE program since I don't have any idea when I'm not hungry -- don't think I'm EVER not hungry). One of the benefits so far has been an immediate decrease in GERD, so I plan to really stick with this.
Aylin... Our leader at the meeting did a short talk about allowing yourself something you really want sometimes. She said if we didn't do this, we might pig out in a worse way later on. So you treated yourself to some sweet 16 cake and cheetos (I LOVE them)... How can you not taste your daughter's cake?? Congrats on all the good things, your house, job offers. It's a good time.
Blessings to all and good luck with your program.
-
wel, being good paid off--lost 1.8 lbs! But I am still worried about going away this weekend (for 6 days vacation) and how I will manage that. I guess I'll be ordering lots of salad at the restaurants!

"I can't walk past the scales at the Cancer Center without some helpful nurse wanting to record my ever-increasing pounds."
I felt the same way during chemo! Finally I just decided to close my eyes and let them record my weight while I remained ignorant of the actual number.
I'm going to weigh myself on Friday, but I still think I'm not losing much weight, if any. I've started drinking fresh veggie juice every evening right when I get home from work and it definitely fills me up, which helps me to stick to my remaining points at the end of the day. Maybe this will help -- I hope so! - -but I just have to keep remembering that even if the numbers on the scale aren't going down, I am feeling so much healthier, and that is the most important thing.
Congrats AWB and good luck while on vacation. There are a lot of good salads out there, so enjoy even if you can't indulge!
-
Whooohoooo AWB. Progress for you!
I'm delighted to announce a loss of 1.2 pounds myself (145.6 this a.m.), in this first week of beginning to behave myself and make better choices. I'm looking forward to my first smilie face, when those get posted.
Having "you" here to be accountable to is a big help. Thank you for letting me join the momentum.

WW is a great program, and it really shows you how to eat. It is a lifestyle, not a diet. And it is something that can be done everywhere, just plan for your points..
Best of luck!
-
woo hoo....my first week and I lost 3.4 lbs. It is probally all water weight since I had chemo last week...but I will take it. Thanks for the support...now what will happen next week. Good Luck All.
-
Tigwin, congrats, that is awesome!
I lost 1.6 lbs in the past week. Well, I actually weighed myself several times at various doctor's appointments and each time was different, but according to the scale that I've been using every Friday:
Starting weight: 160.2
After week one: 159.8
After week two: 159.6
After week three: 158.0
So, did I finally earn a smiley face?
Man, this is slow going....

Hi all...I am down 2.1 on my first week...

Hey there ladies,
Congratulations on everyone's success!!! I admire all of you for your efforts and am trying to get my own weight loss thing going, but I am just stuck. I just can't get motivated and the scales just keep creeping up!
I will have to say that I am considering joining Weight Watchers (again) and I feel excited at the prospect. I really can't afford it financially, but can't afford not to health-wise. I have finished all treatments except Herceptin, and life is absolutely wonderful except for the weight I gained during chemo is still with me!
Are you all going to Weight Watcher meetings or doing WW on line, or have you done both and which was most effective for you? I feel like I could really succeed at WW online and would like to hear from anyone that has had success with it. I have gone to meetings many times before, but in a lot of ways, feel like I'd be more accountable if I joined online.
I still think counting points is the easiest way for me to lose, plus it's kinda fun too.
Hugs and continued success to all of you!
ps-- hey there Trigeek, my September chemo buddy! glad you're doing well and enjoying life!
