the FASHION thread

Well, I did take the laces out but the sneaks don't flop at all. They are LLBean brand, the sunwashed canvas sneakers. Nothing too fashion forward, nosirrrreeeee, not me. Hmmm, I do have high insteps, though.
-
So today was the joint family get to know you brunch thrown by my future M-I-L. It's 95 degrees here, and it was at the crescent club on the beach, so the invite said resort attire.
I meant to take a picture when we were cute, before the day started but I forgot-- so this is the aftermath. excuse my frizzy hair... but how cute is Matt?
I figured the green dress could get some use before jamaica in November.
-
-
Great pics!!! Looks like a pair to me!
-
Awesome possems!!
-
M. looks like a real snugglebug. Love that twinkle in his eye! Very good choice, Beth.
You look ravishing in that dress. Suits you to a T.
-
Beth - Matt is a doll and so are you. Those are great photos!! Agree with Tina, that dress is fab on you!!!
-
Oooooooooh....y'all are so "island resort" and waaaaaay hot!!! I like your hair in the pic, Beth....it looks a bit ruffled and like you're ready for more "ruffling"
!

I ordered three bathing suits from the Spiegel catalogue on sale. After watching Oprahs' favorite summer show, where she talked about the $350 swimsuit, that sucks in all your fat, and is very 1940 pin up glamour-esq, I went on a search for cheaper versions.
The first one arrived in the mail yesterday and I love it...
here's what I got.
got that one in white...
and this
-
OMG, Beth, I'll bet that you look way hot in each of them! I'm thinking of the shoes.....
~Marin
-
Oh, gosh, three swimsuits? I guess you mean to spend some time at the shore.
They are all beautiful but I esp. like the one you bought in white. All will ac-centuate the positive and e-liminate the negative. (Ha. Showing my age. lol)
I was just trying on my old suit, a basic tank in a watermelon color. Maybe I need to buy a new, black suit, or a black/white print. (Any suggestions or have you seen anything that might flatter someone that is quite a bit "flatter" than you, Beth?) Then, I can feel glamorous out on my lawn, trying to tan a bit. I've decided I will spend a little time this summer, like a half hour a day, working on a tan. All the tanning lotions are getting to me, and I'm not good at application, even with the tinted ones. Sigh. A few streaks here and there. Anyway, I shall start a tan. Probably later today, as it is going to be hot but not as bad as the past few days nor as humid. My husband (home for a few vacation days) will wonder what has gotten into me.
-
Beth - I agree with Tina - I love the shirred halter tankini. Very glamorous and sexy at the same time. Very Rita Hayworth.
I have two new bathing suits this year and a mix match suit.
Here is one, which I have to stuff shower scrubbies into the top for breasts, which is a pain in the petute to get them even, but I love the bottoms.
The other is from title9, just a simple top and bottom, very sporty in blue. I don't have the pic.
My last is a makeshift. A cute sports bra (cami type) that I've had for years but never really used and these bottoms. With the sports bra, no cups means no stuffing and I love it.
-
oh, I totally forgot about this other suit I got for florida, no breast cups either, but it has already torn. I loved the bright colors.
-
I plan on spending a lot of time tanning and being out in my yard this summer. We just got a gazebo, and a great dining set, a fire pit, a glider... I just want to make my backyard the place where people want to gather and hang out all summer. I have no bathing suits that fit-- and I knew I'd need them for Jamaica in November, so these are perfect.
Raye- once again, you're so cute I could eat you. The polka dot bikini is ADORABLE. It would take many months at the gym before I'd be able to wear something like that.
I think the Spiegel suits are very true to size, most with removable padding too.
-
Raye...You really ARE so freakin' adorable! I love the first suit...is it VS? I actually love all bottoms with that fold-over look, kind of like yoga shorts. My suits are okay...very colorful and they fit well, but I'd love something really hot and exciting.

What do you girls think of this suit for moi?
http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=286573&CategoryID=12420
Wild thing..........
-
Raye, you are so HAWT!
hubba-hubba!
Tina, I like that suit, but it looks a little, uhm, flimsy? Light-weight? Of course, bear in mind that I go in the Pacific Ocean, may not be an issue if your plans are for poolside.
Lisa
-
Beth - the backyard sounds so inviting, beautiful and fun! Can I come over?
You girls must think I am the one in the brown and white suit!! - if only! thank you thank you. And yes, Marin, the brown and white suit is VS. I love the bottoms because they are low and not tight - hence, they do not produce a muffin top. Also, the bandeau style top works well with me having no breasts.
I like the suit, Tina. Grrowelllll.
-
No, Raye, we know you are the hottie on the striped blanket.
Lisa, Pacific Ocean? Poolside? Try backyard. Maybe the local pond with the mommies and sand rats.
-
Tina....I love it! Fierce! But with your man home on vacation, methinks that you're not likely to be keeping it on for long
!!!
~Marin
-
Raye, you are one hottie tottie! Get both!
I want that 3rd suit that Beth posted!
-
I like that suit tina-- the top looks like it will be a good fit. I saw your other post about the chanel bronzer-- it better make me glow for days for $45 a pop. LOL.
I can't wait to get this stupid binder off so I can actually put on a bathing suit and hit the beach/backyard/my convertible/ or anywhere the sun can hit my body.
Raye, we know you're not the girl in the polka dots, but you might as well be-- you could be a doll on my shelf (if I still had dolls, or shelves in my bedroom for that matter) that could just sit there and look cute as a button all day.
-
Beth, how are you feeling today? When does the binder come off?
Thank you! You wouldn't want me on your shelf today, unless you like Bozo the Clown. Hair is so crazy, I am about to go to the gym and run 4 miles, so I at least have an excuse as to why it looks like this.
Tina, you order that sexy suit yet?
Lisa - the pacific ocean? brrr...do you need a wetsuit in there?
I have my Lucky jeans from TJ Maxx on today. They are called the "Socialite Jean" (whatever that means), not the Maggie like I had thought, Marin. They are so comfortable and cute - white with back flap pockets.
-
I don't know what's wrong with my fashion radar, but everytime I go into TJ Maxx, I come out feeling so frustrated! It seems that whenever I find something I like, it's not in my size or it has a major flaw or it just looks plain crappy on me! The prices are so right too! Ugh! I've been looking at the jeans in the Victoria Secret catalog (that come in different lengths...yay). Has anyone tried any of the models that have the "butt lift"? I'm wondering how "lifting" it really is?
Alternatively, I'm about to begin following a regular workout that is in the June issue of Women's Health magazine. It's called "Sweet Cheeks" and is all about developing rock-hard glutes. Looks very challenging, but after running the Race for the Cure on Saturday, I'm on board with it and we'll see how close I get to having an ass that you can crack an egg on.....
YEAH!!!
~Marin
-
I'll take mine scrambled please.
The binder is never coming off. LOL. The longer you wear it, the better the results. I think I'm supposed to wear it for a month, but I have to keep it on 24:7 till at least Tuesday. After that, I think I may be done with it except at night.
Although you eat less in it, and it forces you to sit up straight, so it's really not a bad thing.
I am officially the heaviest I have ever been, and while I'm happier in my life then ever, it's time to REALLY get serious about the food I'm putting in my mouth.
The last year since I've been working at home, I am eating around the clock. It stops now. Since I got back from surgery, I haven't been hungry (praise the lord for this miracle) and I'm eating smaller meals, and I'm not really eating anything inbetween except a piece of fruit.
I had one alcoholic drink about a week before my surgery, and I think that's going to be the key to taking off some of this weight.
I think the surgery was a good thing, cause I can't go out with my friends right now, and eat and drink.
I figure if I start tanning ( you all know that it makes you instantly look better) that it might motivate me even further to keep this going.
I really want to look good for my engagement party which is 80 days away.
Any butt kicking advice will be gladly accepted.
I could always fly Marin out for a month to be my trainer....
I digress.
-
Bought a suit today at Macy's. NOT the one I was interested in, as they didn't have it. It is similar in that it's one of those retro bandeau tops, cut pretty much just like the one in leopard. Mine is an all-over black and white small graphic floral which reaaalllllly confuses the eye. Disguises the non-matching boobies. Actually looks pretty good on me, if only I would lose about 10 pounds. Yuck. I, too, am off the sauce in an attempt to lose weight. I guess I don't really miss it except in theory.
-
OK, y'all, this IS a fashion thread, but what is more conducive to great fashion than hot bodies to drape it on? Well, I have devised the simplest, most effective diet EVER...and I've tried every diet that came along since I was freakin' 12 years old! It's simple and you get to eat anything you want...just not as much as you want. I've already lost 5 pounds in a little over a week, so anyone who can follow it for a week should be able to drop at least as much. And THEN you get motivated to go for more, especially with the new suits and the tans! R U ready???? Drum roll, please..........
*Eat 200-300 calories 5 times a day*
Yep, that's it. I end up eating 200 (cup of yogurt and a banana or a Luna Bar or a big bowl of oatmeal or a scrambled egg on a slice of toast....or a chocolate bar, small bagel w/cream cheese....you get the idea) at 9:30am, about 300 (anything!) at 12:30-1pm, another 200-300 at 5-6pm, 300 at 8-9pm and my yummiest 200 (usually a 110-cal. chocolate Pria bar and an Edy's strawberry fruit bar or a huge bowl of Special K chocolate cereal) right before bed. OK, I know this sounds ridiculously simple, but it works for me and I don't feel in the least deprived because I'm eating stuff I love...and often! Of course, I do exercise too, but no more than usual, so it's definitely the diet. Hey, y'all, it can't hurt to try.....right?????!
But Beth, I think that you are special enough to absolutely need some personal attention and my bags are totally packed!!!!!!!

Well, sitting on your cheeks for 12 hours at work does not make them sweet at all, unless I do butt squeezes as I sit. Not always possible. I need to start doing some lunges, squats or something - the running just doesn't make for an egg crackin' surface. And of course, the tightening effect of tanning on the upper thighs and arms always helps.
Marin - Your diet above is pretty much what I do - Luna bar or protein bar and yogurt for breakfast, light lunch (Lean Cuisine, fruit or no lunch) - salad for dinner or grilled chicken for dinner- 100 calorie bag (or two) of popcorn for snack. Apple or banana here and there throughout the day. It works.
TJ Maxx: I agree. Sometimes I find tremendous deals on quality clothing - other times I feel like I'm at a rumage? sale. I don't think I've bought anything this season from TJ.
To throw a little bit of fashion in the mix - I think my new bathing suit bottoms (the black skirted ones) are arriving this weekend from VS. Can't wait!!
-
Okay. Well, I'm going to be insane once I start depriving myself of food, but I have no choice. I'm easing myself into things.
I took the binder off for a bit today, and my hips/side of my abs LOOK AWESOME! There is no more unevenness at all- totally flat, and just how I wanted it.
I'm struggling with the stitches and steri strip that goes from the back of my hip around the side- a little allergic reaction going on, and it's killing me... but I'm not taking off this binder for anyone. LOL.
here's a pic:
-
laughing at the bandages dripping with bacetracin over my boobs... good thing these tank tops are cheap. That little red mark is from where, there was a piece of tape (which I'm allergic to) holding gauze around the back of the hip, and it burned my skin. Nice, right?
