I thought I would ask on here if anyone seems to retain fluid since their chemo/radiation?

I do, and initially passed it off to chemo side effects, and that my body was re-adjusting. Then I thought okay, it's just that bloaty icky chemo-induced menopause stuff.

Well, 4 years out of treatment now, and I am still swelling up. This isn't something that I used to ever be prone to prior to breast cancer. My regular GP is next to impossible to get in to see, on anything short of a 6-8 week appointment, so I saw an on-call doc the other day.

I am going to try a diuretic and see what happens, and they are running some regular blood work panels like my  RBC WBC kidney & liver functions etc as well as my blood sugars.

    Anyone else experience this?

    Hi:

Are you on any homone meds. i.e. Tomox or AI's, if so check into that

    Many hugs,

    Hi Erika,

That's just it, aside form Calcium & Vit D, I take nothing at all. No meds for anything not thyroid, not high BP,absolutely nothing. Rarely even a Tylenol or Ibuprophen.

Today though, all I could do is keep looking at my fingers, and and stretching my hand to admire the tendons and knuckles. Laughing thinking about this as it's funny the little things that make us feel normal again.

After less then 48 hrs and only 2 pills so far of the Diuretic prescription, I feel like a new person.

Hopefully after the blood work comparisons between the other day and the ones I will have in 2 weeks, might lend a clue.

Maybe it's just something I got to draw as the chemo booby prize( No pun intended).

    Hugs

    Barb

    Hello,

Could it be lymphadema( I know I didnt spell that right sorry) That can cause swelling in the arm and hands, is it in both?? I guess it the diuretic helped then it was just water weight.

Yep we do seem to get stuck with a bunch of prizes don't we. My lung collapsed when they put in my port that was fun. Im two years out from surgery and my feet hurt like heck when I walk guess neuropathy from tax, but it makes me crazy it hurts so much. Thyroid went bad so have to tak meds for that gessss. But heck I''m still here so YEAAAAAAA. Glad the puffiness went away.

    Myrna
