Unenlightened beings seem to be coming out of the closet everywhere! We are not alone, it seems. Thanks for your words...they made my day.

Judie...utterly unimproved in any way because of cancer.

    Morning,

On this subject of it's "just being cancer", and your other post on those moments we all experience missing our breasts, your wonderful articulation helps us all identify with words, those feelings hard to express even to ourselves.

Surely better than any guru to "enlightenment"

    Thanks for the camaraderie

OMG...I'm still laughing. I loved this entire thread. LMAO. I'm in total agreement about (most - this one excluded) support groups, too. (If I want to hear people complaining all the time about how unfair life is, all I have to do us quit tuning out the kids!)

Unenlightened? Perhaps. Irreverent? You bet. My sense of humor is sometimes the only thing that keeps me going!

By the way, did you realize that after you have a lumpectomy, when you thump on your breast, it sounds hollow? Between that and the interesting sloshing sound it makes whenever I move, DH thinks I might be able to start my own jug band! (maybe I can be the musical accommpanist when you want to run naked during solstice?)

Su, who is wondering what other interesting sounds she can learn to make.

    "JUG" band? LMAO!!

I adore this thread, you guys have me cracking up!

Morning, your op is brilliant and should be required reading for every single human on earth.

Yes, having cancer is bound to change ones perspective, but egads, save me from those who want to tell me how, what and when. How in the world does someone get so self-important that they believe they know how everyone should think and feel? blech

Also, another note-to-self for morons...cancer is not a punishment/blessing/curse/sign etc etc......I wanna tear out what little hair I have to hear any of these statements. lol

    Thanks for the laughs everyone!

    Get ready ladies,

The summer solstice is upon us and we have to dance around naked. I think that I might have to wear something though for the dance as I really do not look like the GODDESS that I want to be just yet. So I may have to clothe myself. But I will do something special with my hair.

I tell ya, it is my sense of humour that helps me to get through this BC ride. Otherwise I would be crying and I am soo SICK of that.

    See ya at the dance.

Well, along the same lines, I picked up a truly awful book in an airport bookshop (killing time, but the book almost killed me) called The Joy of Cancer. Anyone want a copy, I will send it to you free of cost! Maybe we should start a list of 'most awful cancer books'. Does anyone have a nomination?

    Morning,

What the.....?  I really admire your take on the situation, we can only be ourselves.

Although, as I read your post I was able to visualize this "enlightened being" and it gave me a good old fashioned belly laugh.  How could you stand to listen to that crap?  LOL.

carolupa, I think you should start that thread. I have some nominees.  I haven't seen "Joy of Cancer," but I'm pretty sure that one would be on my list, just based on the title.

Has anyone else read "Cancer Made Me A Shallower Person" by Miriam Engelberg? I think we can all relate to it.

Here is one of my favorite quotes. "I should be meditating and journaling and reflecting...But I don't feel like it. I'm still waiting for some kind of epiphany so that I can use illness to turn my life around. But in the meantime I'm just going to watch 'Judge Judy" and read a magazine."

I laughed so hard when I read that because I had been telling all my friends that Judge Judy and Dr Phil and I had become best friends while I was in chemo tx.

    Kerry,

No need to get dressed for the naked solstice dancing. We are beautiful, scars and all, titless or with partial tits, big buddha bellies made to appear bigger by lack of tits, hair or no hair. Boogy down shake whatever will jiggle, and howl at the moon. And sing along to your own "jug" band!

Invite Dr. Phil and Judge Judy to join in (though the thought of Dr. Phil in the requisite attire for the dance does cause me a wee bit of trepidation!)

If that doesn't scare away every known cancer-carrying pagan, then nothing will!

    Anne,

You brought a smile to my face when I was feeling sad. Thankx so much. But instead of Dr. Phil can I bring John Bon Jovi or Brad Pitt to the naked solstice dance. I am a sucker for a good looking blonde man and DH will be busy.....?  I am sure that he will be busy. And I have ALWAYS wanted to meet these 2 blondes. Can you call them for me Please?

    Kerry
