It's hard to choose, but what is your favorite Paul Newman movie?

I think he was a lifetime smoker ... he knew the risks however, it is a habit that is hard to break thanks to the chemicals and whatever else is in a cigarette.

My favorites of his are Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, The Verdict (I named my daughter "Caitlin" after hearing the name of the leading female character) and Butch Cassidy.

Here's another article that confirms that it is lung cancer:

Though I'm known to prefer younger men, I think that even at 83, he's still gorgeous!!!

I love Paul Newman and own a lot of his movies.  Butch Cassidy, Hud, Cool Hand Luke and Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, but also some more obscure ones.  I found Sweet Bird of Youth (w/Geraldine Page) and the movie that brought him and Joanne Woodward together, The Long, Hot Summer.

My sister-in-law met him on the set of Sometimes A Great Notion, and she was embarrassed that she said "Your eyes are so blue!"  She knew that he had heard that a million times, but his eyes were amazingly blue!

That's sad.  I read The Outsiders with my 7th graders every year and the book starts out "When i stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house I had two things on my mind - Paul Newman and a ride home."  It goes on to talk about his eyes.  Sad but I always had to explain who Paul Newman was.  They knew his salad dressing!  I finally hung up a picture of him from when the story took place and a picture now.  Then they got it!

An amazing man and so is his wife.  So sad to see those we've all held our breaths for not only age, but become ill.

I understand he's been treating for about a year, so, apparently he's hanging in.
