    i am thanking

    god  for puling me through the lumpectomy surgery, reexcise, radiation therapy and few side effects with Arimedex. Thanks to all of you who have help me with the depression and fears. i hope my bc doesn't reoccur. i am trying to enjoy every minute of life.

    Hi.  I'm a new member.  I am about to start the chemo part as soon as I get a port cath put in this week.  I decided to have my hair stylist do the same thing.  I usually wear my hair long, but I'm going med short with a new do.  Seems like a fun thing to do before it falls out.  I am really scared of that first chemo treatment.  Any tips out there for me.

    My neice went through the same thing when she was 17.  It turned out to be fine.  They took the lump out to be sure and everything was benign.  With our family history she has to be vigilant.  I am a 18 month survivor and my mother is a 21 year survivor.  Hang in there.  The odds are in her favor.

    I have been recently diagnoised and need to know questions to ask the surgeon. I really don't know a thing about breast cancer

    Glenda,

    Go to the Surgery, Before, During and After section, and you will probably find a thread called something like "Things to ask my surgeon". But there are also a few threads there about how to prepare for surgery...things to take to the hospital, how to have things set up at home, how much help you will need post-surgery. And lots of women who have already been through that part of the bc treatment to answer your questions. Not that they couldn't be answered here...but you will find more specific info if you post in an area dedicated to that topic as more people will be reading and posting there that have the info you seek.

    I had more of a question than a comment.

    Here it is! I was diagnosed with DCIS almost 3 years ago.  Had surgery, radiation, going for mammograms every 6 months, but I decided not to take Arimedex due to the side effects.  So far I am doing fine.  But is always a fears every time  I go for my examinations. Did I make a mistake not taking this medication? Has anybody out there made the same decision? Please sombody say something.  Thanks! Leticia

    Glenda,

    Make a list of all your questions: what kind a cancer, what kind of surgery, how much their going to cut, will they have to cut any limbs, do you need to bring a sport bra, will you need radiation, do you need to take any other medications, these are few of the things you can ask, the list can go on.  God bless you.     I'm New too  38 yo dx May7 mastect. May 27 chemo radiation and hormone therapy to come...I have a 14 month old who is my universe and reason for all my positivity....and the most kind wonderful 10 year old neice you could wish for. She is my reason for comment. Her mom & dad decided to sit down and explain what was going to happen with me in the next couple of months...most kids would prob say ok and go on her day...but my Kelsie just said what can we do for her mom? She got together with her best friend and had yard sales on the weekends all proceeds were donated to the breast cancer foundation and she asked her mom to find out how she can participate in the walk in August in our town. Her mom found her a team and shes raising money already!!!! She melts my heart!!!

    what about dumb things people say. I ran into someone the other, who didnt know that I had been dx with the "c" word. After talking a few minutes she tells me about a co worker that had survived breast cancer but now she has lung cancer. Why do people say these types of comments to someone who wonders all the time if I am going to live.
