Kabul works for me
do you know the address??
-
OKAY, I need the date, I think the 21st of June? and careful directions, and I need a large room so my tinfoil hat (it keeps the aliens away) will fit. heeeehe
Hugs and kisses, Shirlann
-
You are a kick, Shirl
you're right about the date..21 June
Is it still 11:30 folks????
Do you want me to pick you up Shirl??
-
Ok, I'm going to do my best to be there this month. I have written it on the calendar already... which really doesn't mean anything other than I have it written on the calendar!
I currently am on a NO driving order from the doctor. So maybe I can hitch a ride??? Maybe I can come alone for a change... not that Zoe wouldn't love to visit with everyone, but Mamma wouldn't mind a day out, too!
We'll figure it out.
I have to have my port replaced on the 16th, but that's a pretty minor thing. I'm well into my Rads by then and should be starting my breast rads that week. Whoopee!
Wait till' you see my hair!
Cheers, Jodi

Hooray!!!
Kabul West
Sorrento Court Food Court

San Diego, CA 92121Hours: Sat. 10 am - 4 pm
Closed Sunday
We are doing Sat., June 21, correct?
Jodi- I hope you make it.
Shirl - what hat are you talking about?
-
Jodi-I should be able to give you a ride on the 21st. My MIL is going to be in town so I can take some extra time that day.
Are we going to go for that 11:30 time slot. Seems to work good on Saturday lunches.
Shilann-If you miss it again we are going to send the guys in the white coats to come get you LOL.
-
I'll figure something out with whatever time you girls want, but it would be easier for me if it was later, like 12:30 or 1. Gabri has practice until 12:30.
-
Anyone going to Survivors' Day at the park by the airport tomorrow??..my husband (a prostate cancer survivor) and I plan to go...
-
Starfish-If we can make reservations it probably won't matter what time we get there. Do they take reservations?
SoCal-My day is full tomorrow. I wanted to go but it just isn't going to happen. I should be a nice day for it though. I think LisaSDCA said she was going to be at a booth there.
-
I'll call them and get back to you all.
-
YES, Liz, for God's sake, save me! I seem to be helpless on my own. Geez, Kabul???? Isn't that a long way to go for lunch???
Hugs, Shirl
-
Someone requested that we pick a place in Mira Mesa. That's why I suggested Kabul.
-
Lisa--Shirlann was joking about Kabul, Afghanistan. That would be a touch far to go to lunch.
-
SoCal - I am hoping to be there for a bit. I have Dragon Boat practice beginning at 0830 and if this cramp in my neck and shoulder loosen up, I'll make that (along with Kim and Lisa#3, I hope), then come home for a quick breakfast, change and go to the Farmer's Market, home to put that all away, have lunch with the kid, and back down to the harbor by about 1:30 in time for the presentations. Think that'll all happen? We shall see!
I'll keep an eye out for you!

A little OT... apologies in advance...
My mother-in-law is out of state and will be moving here so we can take care of her. She has metastatic breast cancer in the bone (spine/hips).
Anyone have suggestions for a good oncologist and primary care physician or (just as helpful) someone to avoid? I know she has insurance, but I don't know the carrier at the moment.
It's going to be a tough month for all of us, but at least the weather is better now... in sharp contrast to Wisconsin!
TIA,
Rich -
Rich, I sent you a PM.
-
Rich, I am sorry you had to join our group...maybe your MIL would like to
also join in..I am glad nash sent you a PM..I use the Navy Hospital, so am of no use I believe.
I attended the cancer survivorship ...Lisa..I must have missed you but I left after the first breakout sessions...
It was fun...here was our MC
and for those of you who have not been to the park by the airport here is the sculpture there..
it was a good day, but I must say, I did not hear anything I haven't heard before
Shirl..I will be glad to drive you to the next lunch...
-
Nice pictures, once again SoCal! I didn't stay as long as I had planned either because I also was not hearing anything new. I didn't feel the content was at the same level it has been in other years and my durn neck/shoulder were hurting anyway.

OK, change of plans. Kabul only has one table outside - they are basically take-out and catering. Oops.
Indian or Korean, anyone?
-
Oh girls, did anyone think about the fair? Should we go to a place off of 15? Just a thought, the fair traffic from the South can be a nightmare.
But I will go anywhere (since Liz is driving me) hahahaha
Nash, thanks for updating Starfish on Kabul. My weirdo sense of humor gets me in trouble.
Love you all, Shirl
-
Oh my, Shirl - you are SO RIGHT about the I-5 traffic during the fair! Or racing season for that matter.
If we go back to the idea of I-15 and Mira Mesa, we can consider the 'exotic' and go to a superb pho restaurant, Pho Hoa Hiep (VietNamese noodle or rice bowls)
More than one can possibly eat for ~$6. I generally go for the shrimp, not being a meat person. They use very fresh greens.
Or we can stay all-American and go to a very tasty and reasonable deli and ice cream shoppe - C's Ice Cream and Deli. There's no rule that says one cannot have a Banana Split for lunch!
http://www.csdeli.com/index.html
This place is much smaller, but the owner says if we call ahead, he will reserve all of the outside tables for us and we can arrange them in whatever configuration we like. The inside is mostly small tables for two and then an L-shaped 'soda fountain' bar. We can even call in our sandwich orders ahead of time and tell her (the wife does the sammiches on Sat.) that we'll want them for say, noon, and they'll have them all ready for us. Or we can do as we always do and use that time for chatting.
Anyway - two suggestions that are right off 15 on Mira Mesa Blvd., one just to the east, the other just west.
Lisa
-
I'd have to skip if you go to Pho Hoa Hiep - not one vegetarian dish on the menu!
-
How about Rancho Bernardo??
That is on the 15...and away from the Fair traffic
-
there is a California Pizza Kitchen off Carmel Mountain Road exit..

The grilled veggie salad looks pretty good at CPK.
-
California Pizza Kitchen is good for me, I love their greens, grapes, granny smith apple, candied pecan, celery, gorgonzola salad! Yummmmm
But I am good to go anywhere, with my dear Liz and probably a seeing eye dog.
Love you all, Shirl

I'm in for California Pizza Kitchen or that deli place. Either one works for me.
-
either for me too - sorry to be a pain about a vegetarian menu. There's a CPK around here that I eat at a lot.
-
I eat vegetarian, too
