    I just got back from Relay for Life.  I had never done this before. My twins formed a team in my honor Barbs Babes.  I walked the survivor lap and looked up in the stands to these 8 very special young ladies cheering me on.  My daughter was in tears which of course made me have to put on my sunglasses!!!!  It was extremely moving.  My parish priest was with me also as a survivor and there was a father and his 8 year old daughter both survivors.  It was a very special experience.   I just wanted to come here and share with my sisters.  I really see that we truly are sisters after meeting others on this journey.    God Bless

    My friends put a team together for last years Relay for Life. We had a blast. I loved being able to get all my best friends together in one place. We are not putting a team in this year but my mom and I are both registered for the survivor lap. I also hope to do a coffee run or two in the middle of the night for the other teams. We all plan on being a team again next year.

    I have never been in any of these things before.........this year I was asked to captain a team, the Relay for Life on June 13 in Port Perry. I guess I'll give it a shot.

    Yes you really should try it.  Its an experience.  I don't know if I'll do it every year, but I am glad that I did this year.  My daughter was a team head and its really quite alot of work!  I am very proud of her.

    I went last year for the first time, the other years conflicted with vacations, house closing, etc.  I thought it one of the most humbling experiences.  Here were all these people in my community who had been fund raising, putting together teams, setting up booths, and all sorts of things, in honor of me!  We received flowers, a medal, goodie bags, a special reception, t shirts, just because we had cancer.  Someone had bought a luminary in my honor.  It was a humongously moving experience.

    I did the survivor's victory lap three years ago.  That was two years after completing ovarian cancer treatments.  I was volunteering at the local Canadian Cancer Society at the time and I was amazed that for doing the lap I got a free Survivor T-shirt and a coupon for a free hamburger.  The CCS Manager told me "Our Survivors are our VIP's".  That really blew me away. 

    It was a very emotional experience especially as we approached the final part and people were standing there clapping for us.  I'm doing it this year again to celebrate my 5 years for ovarian and because I've just finished chemo and surgery for Breast.  I need to feel like a survivor.
