Just finished six rounds of taxotere and carboplatin. The tall finger nail is detached from the base for more than half way the length of the nail bed.  I'm seriously thinking of squirting Krazy Glue under the nail to hold it down, since Krazy Glue is the same glue as the Dermabond they use in surgery.  I'm a potter, and if this nail comes up I'm screwed for throwing.

    Any suggestions?

Brenda, I don't think CG is a good idea because of toxicity and it may interfere with the growing nail underneath.  I know it is hampering you, but I suggest you use simple Band-Aids wrapped around the finger as a temporary fix.  That's what I did when I was in the same boat.  Good luck.

Brenda, you should ask your doc before you do anything like that. Crazy glue like you buy in a store is not sterile and not pharmaceutical-grade.  One problem that can occur when those nails lift up is the tissue underneath can become infected.  If you use Crazy glue to glue that nail down, you could easily trap bacteria under there.  Once glued down, that nail could be really, really difficult to remove if removal becomes necessary.

Yeah, thanks, ladies.  I did email the onc nurse, but it seemed like such a good idea, after I read that Dermabond (surgical glue) is the same formula as Krazy Glue.  It's for sure that it's not sterile with all the clay sludge that gets underneath the nail.  I wish I had a waterpick because I just can't get it out easily.
