    Hello ladies~

    I have read a few of the threads about pregnancy after BC.  I was diagnosed at 34, had a double mast but was lucky and avoided chemo and rads.  I was on tamoxifen for just over 2 1/2 years and my doc allowed to go off and start trying for a family.  We were given the green light in January.

    Well, yesterdays pregnancy test shows 2 pink lines.  OMG, I'm pregnant.  And scared....

    Are there things I should pay attention too or watch for?  My cancer was estrogen positive so I'm concerned about the increase in hormones triggering a recurrance.  My onc. says "not to worry" but that's my MO.  A worrier. 

    And to be honest, I'm a bit naive about pregnancy, I think I need to do some reading up on it.  I know I should avoid alcohol and caffeine, that's the extent of my knowledge.  Ugh!  HELP!

    Wow--congratulations! That's wonderful!

    I understand about the worrying, but if the onc says the pregnancy is OK, then just go with that.

    There's tons of good resources about pregnancy. When I was pregnant, everyone read "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and visited www.babycenter.com. I'm sure there's much more out there now, but those would be two good places to start.

    How wonderful for you to have this baby to focus on! My first pregnancy and my first child's first year were really some of the best times in my life. With my second child, I was so harried that the pregnancy and first year weren't as fun as the first time around, but now that they're both school age, everything is great.

    Congratulations! What a miracle baby. I'm sure once you see your OB/GYN she/he will closely monitor your pregnancy and have a wealth of information on pregnancy. There are also classes you can take for expectant parents and labor and delivery classes.

    What an exciting time! Congrats again on the new family.

    Thank you so much!!!  I'm excited but so nervous because I know its early (week 5 according to babycenter.com) and the risk is still very high for miscarriage.  It will be a miracle baby for sure (and hopefully not the ONLY one). 

    It's funny, years ago I decided I wanted to name my little girl, Piper.  when I had my cancer, most of my appointments and my surgeries were at the Piper Cancer Center in Scottsdale, AZ.  It was meant to be...

    Today is week 7, things are still going well.  I see my OB/GYN next Friday the 20th.  I called the high risk doc I originally saw and they referred me right back to my regular OB/GYN.  I hate being bounced around.... although my GYN is a doll.  He was the first one to say "assume its cancer" when I presented with bloody nipple discharge (no lump) in 2004.

    Congratulations on the new baby! My grandson was born 5 months after my chemo and he is the best gift. I took care of him since he was 3 months old so he is just like my own little baby. So......enjoy every moment during your pregnancy and after.

    Just had a baby post stage 3 BC.  I had a baby girl, March 5th.  I was stage 3.  July 5th will be 2 years since my last chemo.  I found it gave me something new to focus on instead of the "c" word.  As far as I'm concerned, I'm cured until they tell me different!

    Also, I got my hands on an article before I got preggers that said that it may actually be a good thing and increase our survival rate a bit to become pregnant post cancer.  I chose to believe what that article said and so far so good. 

    I just poked my head in on the site, b/c of the email I rec'd about the "new & improved" website. Glad I found these posts.
