They sound awesome. I am in definite need of a shopping trip soon.
-
Yes, Tina, you are too cool for school...especially since many schools (around here at least) don't allow flip-flops. It sounds like you had a perfect day!
I'm still trying to get rid of this flu and haven't left my house since Friday
. Plenty of magazines and online shopping sites, though, to plan a summer wardrobe (even if its mostly imaginary). Has anyone tried the "fit-flops" yet? I'm wondering if they're as comfortable as they look?

Shopping trip report: Found a Helen Kaminski hat I just WANT, looks great (size, shape, color) on me, but COSTS $175.00!!! It's the Melinda in Bark, a pinkish light brown. Sigh. There is no way I'm paying that much for a straw hat. http://www.helenkaminski.com/collections/view?id=25c142e6d7897a843377ce5ef77f972b
Went into an H&M for the first time and found a cute MUU MUU, of all things, in a pink/orange Hawaiian print, sleeveless. Do kids really wear these things today? Anyway, I bought it ($12.90) because it will be perfect for me, sitting on the back porch on a steamy summer evening, terrorizing the squirrels with my remote controlled Ford Harley Davidson truck! Can you just picture that?
Life is good.

Okay- so inbetween being at supreme court for my future MIL's trial, then heading to the doctor during the lunch break b/c I need antibiotics for this insane sinus infection- I had to get to target. Yes, coughing and sneezing through the aisles, and I don't care. We're going away Fri-Tues, and I was in dire need of some cute stuff.
Here's what I got...
the cutest beige flip flops with plaid underneath the strips where you put your feet- $10. A ton of ADORABLE cute new underwear, well they kind of look like my dental floss, but it's my anniversary, so whatever. I got the cutest argyle cardigan, an adorable short sleeve v neck sweater- kind of looks like cashmere- but it's totally not... $15!!!
I got a set of adorable socks- 6 pair for $6! Then, I hit the accessory aisle and found a really unique brown and gold oversized bangle that kind of sparkles in the light for $20.
A few tank tops, and travel stuff for our trip the dvd 27 dresses, and I made it out of target for under $160.
love it....
now i'm in bed, waiting for American Idol, blowing my nose, and thinking of outfits to pack.
-
And Of course, I went back to target again today. I needed to get a top to match that awesome bangle that I found. I got this super cute 3 button cropped cardigan, 2 tank tops, and 2 cute t-shirts. I knew I shouldn't have taken a wagon!!
I promise I will stay out of target for a few weeks.

I did some retail therapy while on vacation with my in-laws. I went to the Vanity Fair outlet mall in Crossville TN and they have a Liz Claiborne store. they were having a memorial day sale and I bought 2 'mini' pocketbooks for $10.00 each. The suggested retail price on them were $38.00 each. they are just the right size for me, I am petite and go for the smaller pocket books. I had been looking and couldn't find any that I really liked until I found these. Couldn't get any better than that - retail therapy and a bargan.

I am very familiar with this mall, and the one in Lebanon, TN. Nice things and good prices on lots.
If you're on I40 going east of Nashville, ck out Mt. Juliet shopping-- TJMaxx, Target, all the good ones are there and very new.

Just catching up. . . hope everyone had a nice long weekend, and that Marin and Beth are both over their 'bugs'.
But my question is about that delectable piece of nightie that Marin posted a ways back - from VS with all the criss-cross strappy stuff across the back? In red, but you said you have it in white? I imagine you have plenty of help out of that little number,
but how on earth do you get into it single- handedly?!? I have a long slinky gown that crosses twice in the back to a l-o-w V and I tend to get myself tangled in it, so I know I'd be a klutz trying to arrange myself in that little action. I can see it now - 20 minutes to get it on, 20 seconds to be out of it!
Currently sleeping in tanktops and 'cheekers'
Lisa
-
Lisa, what are "cheekers?" Panties that crawl up your butt???
Warm weather, I just sleep in the nude. Solves the problem.
Is it fashionable right now to remove the laces from regular sneakers (aka Keds-type) and wear that way? Lacing them seems to tight-butt.

My Visa bill arrived yesterday. dear lord. However, I think I am going to go buy some Lucky Jeans today, as I am in desperate need of new jeans.
Tina - Good question. I think all of mine are cheekers.
-
OMG, Raye...Lucky's are my favorites for knocking around and they make your butt look awesome (very Beyonce)! I like what I think is the "Maggie" style, but they're all cute. Have fun...and post a pic?
So Lisa...I have a few tops and stuff with no backs but only strings and have learned that the key to getting them on is to clear your mind and actually think it through and then take your time arranging what needs to go in back in both hands, making sure that all of the front pieces are hanging unencumbered . Then you either slip the whole mess of back fabric/strings gently over your head or step into the middle with the string stuff all in back and then find the two intended arm areas. Really, it works! It's funny that you should mention that nightie because I just got another email from VS (this is a daily delivery, I'm tellin' ya!) and I'm eyeing a few more babydolls, but I know I should resist....at least until I'm sure that I have someone to wear them for:
Whaddaya think?
And yeah...what are cheekers? They sound pretty sexy.
~Marin
-
Marin - YES - the Maggie style, that is what I have and love them, but must have gotten them at TJ Maxx. Yikes, the Lucky's at Macy's were $120.00 - too much for me. Sooo, I got some super cute 9 West Jeans. Pic below of my big ole arse in the new jeans (bc takes all modesty, BTW - anyone notice?).
Daily deliveries from VS - eww do I smell something hot brewing, Marin - you go Girl!!! I love that third pic of the nightie.
Here are the pants - fresh from the store, tags and all. Bless my co-worker for taking a picture of my butt. Whooaa Nellie (or should I say Nessie), it's big.
-
Raye...You've got just the cutest ass ever! And I'm lovin' those jeans! In fact, I've been scouting around for a pair with pockets like those...they're supposed to add some "lift," ya know? Gotta check out 9 West. Did you get them at Macy's? I also like the wash...it's so hard to keep the dark blue dark, even with washing them inside-out and line-drying them.
And I don't get daily deliveries from VS...just daily emails! No my girl....I wish! I'm dying to try their "fit flops"...
~Marin
-
omg, raye you're so freakin adorable it kills me. Those jeans are fabulous. Your co worker must think we're crazy.
Are cheekers like Tongas? Or just panties that a lil tush sticks out of?
-
Thanks Girls. I love them and they do lift thy arse.
I am changing the photo - to take the work area out of the pic, but leave the jeans.
Marin - Yes, got them at Macy's - they have a slightly lighter wash as well.
Has anyone tried those fit flops? They do sound interesting.
-
Girls, much to my regret (but probably not yours), I am taking the butt photo down - I am worried because it was taken at work. You can see the jeans on a slimmer butt at macys.com. Nine West Jeans, Bleeker style.
Marin - Forgot to mention: emails everyday from VS- ahhh. I thought you were getting bags and bags of sexy little things every day...maybe someday eh?
-
In Australia a tv show by Carson Kressley(sp) has just come on about how to dress to look your best. His comment last night was the bigger the handbag the smaller your butt will look! I love it as big shiny bags with lots of details like buckles are really in this winter.
-
Raye, I have seen my share of big, ole butts and, believe me, yours is not one of them! You crack me up. Yours is simply a nice, feminine butt.
No bag o' basketballs, there. You do us PROUD!
Now, my butt on the other hand..............
-
Just as I feared....the 9 Wests come in a 32 1/2 inseam and I need a 34. That's the problem that I have with ALL pants and why I buy every freakin' pair at Express where they always have my size! Ugh!
If anyone knows where you can find jeans with the flap pockets on the butt that also come in 4L, please post your source! After seeing how cute they are on Raye, I'm on a mission!
~Marin

You mean the back pockets on my LLBean jeans is what makes my butt to "enhanced?"
They do come in tall and medium tall, Marin. Look at the Double L Jeans, stretch, classic fit. Just think: LL Bean by day, VS by night. What a combo.
-
Marin, if I could I would give you the inch to inch and a half I take off the bottoms of my 14 petite slacks/jeans. While on my retail therapy last weekend I also got a pair of Lee Rider stretch jeans and Lee Rider dress pants for 8.00 a pair, and I have to shorten them at least 1.5 inches so they won't drag the floor. and don't tell me to get shoes with higher heels, I would fall flat on my face. I can at least roll up the jeans until I get time to shorten them but not the dress slacks.

Oprah gave away the fit flops on her favorite things for summer show-- I forgot all about them till now. If you get them, let me know what you think. How much do they cost?
If you have a big butt, jeans with large pockets will only make your butt look bigger. Jeans with no pockets will make it look even worse. The best jeans I've found lately come from Alloy. They fit so great- and the price is right.
-
Marin - I was just looking at the Macy's website and they state in the information area about the product that the inseam is 32.5", but when you scroll through the sizes they only list short and regular. I got long at the store - I am not sure what the inseam is, it may very well be 32.5, but the pant legs are dragging on the floor a bit (I am about 5'6" - you are 5'7", right?). Maybe you can go try on a pair?
-
I just read this review about those Nine West Jeans:
"These are beautiful jeans, but unfortunately they don't have tall sizes, so NO good for gals over 5'9 & 1/2"!!! There is nothing more unflattering than jeans that don't have a nice long line & good fit! JC Penney's, Victoria's Secret & LOTS of other brands accomodate us, along with the average & shorter customers. If only Nine West, Bandolino & other great brands at Macy's did, too!!!!"

I've been fun shopping!!
Had to go up to Vermont to do some work on Tuesday, just plugged the town into the GPS and drove. Found myself driving through ... Manchester!! Where all the outlets/factory stores are. So - I stopped on the way back. Didn't have a lot of time but went to the Ann Taylor store and what a steal! The stuff in the regular part was good but then they have a final markdown area too. for 129 I got a nice pair of pants (petites, didn't need shortening!!!!!), skinny jeans (petites, didn't need shortening!!!!!), a cute skirt (the most expensive item at $30), a red 3/4 length sleeve cotton sweater, a blue v-neck elbow length sleeve T-shirt, and 4 (count 'em - in blue, olive, black and white! $10 each!) sleeveless v-neck cotton shirts! Too much fun!
A couple of weeks ago I visited my sister in the bay area and went to a favorite shop and bought nice jewelry for the first time in my life - spent way too much but got 2 beautiful necklaces, one with matching earrings, another set of simple silver little hoopy kind of earrings, and a mother's day gift for my sister. The designer's name is Phillipa Johnson (I think that's the last name....) in Oakland. Beautiful stuff.

Jewelry! I have some Holly Yashi and love her style. Here's a necklace I'm considering. What do you think? http://www.hollyyashi.com/jewelry/necklaces/cascading-crystal-color-necklace-SOI2005.html
-
Ooh, Tina - like the necklace!
Jorf, you made an incredible haul at AnnTaylor for only $129! Usually that would get you maybe two or three items, total. Good on ya!
Raye - I didn't get to see the cute jeans on the cute butt. Damn.
I'm also one of those who needs long lengths, at 5'10", especially if I want to wear any kind of heel with them at all.
Marin, thanks for the coaching on getting into multi-strapped nighties. I need to practice. I have a beautiful long white one with no back at all except silken cords. Like those new pics, especially the one in the middle. But underwires make my new foobs hurt. What a change from before!
Cheekers - well, half-cheekers are maybe a cross between Tongas and boy-shorts. Cheekers are like a cross between bikinis and boyshorts, and yes, you have some cheek action going on. Especially when they're not as firm as they were when I used to squat regularly.
Really need to get back to doing that.

Ok, Raye, I'm on my home computer and still don't see this picture!! Did you delete it??
-
Tina asked a question about shoe laces in her keds. So, if we take out our shoe laces on our "keds" type tennis shoes, how do they stay on, especially when you have to chase a kid or a dog?
I have Vans that I love, I wear them with the invisible socks and skorts, looks like I am going to play tennis but I love the bare legs!
