    Hi Ladies,

I am getting ready to start chemo and am still conflicted on the best chemo for my triple negative cancer.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have or had AC+T and what your diagnosis was (stage/grade/lymph/etc)

    My stats are:

    Invasive ductal carcinoma

lumpectomy with a positive intramammy node

    negative sentinal nodes

     stage IIa

     .7 cm tumor

    grade 3

    triple negative.

    Thank You!

    Hi,

I am also triple negative. You can see my stats in my signature. I am currently getting DD AC+T. I am still in tx so cannot comment on how good the tx is. Time will tell:) I am not sure if there is one chemo that is best for triple negative cancer. On this board I have read about triple negative ladies who have had success with AC and T, with carboplatins, TAC etc.

    Good luck with chemo.

March04, to see a list of gals who have been on AC/T, check out the Jan 2008 Ain't it Great post (Its under the Chemotherapy, Before, During and After thread.)  At the beginning of the post we have everyone's regimen listed, and there are a few that did AC/T and a couple still finishing up.

There is a weatlth of info on that post and maybe you could find a gal or two with the AC/T plan that you could talk to.

Good luck, you will get through this just have so many of us have...

    mar04,

I am trip neg and my stats are in my sign, and just completed dose dense ac/taxol last thursday. If you would like to pm me I would be more than willing to tell you about my tx. My onc felt bringing out the big boys right away was in order and I certainly don't want to go down this path again.

mar04 - I did A/C and Taxol (Paclitaxel).  I had 15 weeks of weekly Adriamycin infusions and daily Cytoxin pills, along with 2 daily shots of Neupogen.  This was followed by 12 weekly infusions of Taxol.  It was not a pleasant trip, and there were a few complications along the way, but if I had to do things over, I would still follow the A/C/T regimen.  At least when the bone mets showed up, I was able to console myself with the thoughts that at least I had done everything I could.  I am er/pr+ and HER2-.

    Mar04,

I had 4 tx of DD A/C and 12 weeks of Taxol.  My stats are below.  I was and still am in a clinical trial of Avastin.  I finished my standard treatment of chemo and was unblinded on the trial to find out that I would go into Arm D and continue the drug every 3 weeks for 10 cycles.  If I had to do it over, I would go with the same treatment.  Yes, I felt worse some days more than others but its doable.

I did AC + Taxol in October through March..2005-06.

It was fairly new then for node negative patients but today is pretty standard for any triple negatives. There are others, though, that have been found to work.

I believe that if you are under 50, you have a higher risk of the triple negative bc to be a basal-type. These are more aggressive. If you are under 50 and are BRACA it is almost certain, according to studies, that it is basal type, I believe.

What is important is to hit it hard from the beginning no matter what your age is, in my opinion. Taxol has been shown to be a good chemo for that. Of course, it works differently for each person and those stats I wrote about BRACA and Basal are also not 100%.

What is also important is that you feel comfortable with the treatments that you take and confident that it's the best you can do.

    Be well and good luck.

    Mar04,

I am also a triple neg and received 4 cycles of DD AC followed by 4 cycles of DD Taxol. I also gave myself Neupogin shots for seven days after each treatment to build up my white cells. My stats are in my signature line. After each diagnosis I had a Mastectomy, but with the DCIS I didn't have to have chemo.

Last week my genetic tests came back that I am BRCA 2 positive. This puts a whole new twist on my treatment plan as I am how a high risk for ovarian, skin, and pancreatic cancer. I am having a full hysterectomy on June 27. I will do what I have to in order to live...
