    Hi Everyone,

I almost did not see this section.  I am 63 and  was recently dx with DCIS and will be having surgery this week. I have come to the conclusion to have a mastectomy - left breast without reconstruction.  There is no history of bc in my family and bc was detected from my annual mammogram.  I have been telling all women to make sure they have their mammogram.  I had no idea there were so many different types of breast cancer - 15 is the latest number I have heard.  I had a biopsy of the left breast where the microcalcifications were detected.  As a precaution. a core biopsy was done on the right breast and that was fine.  I have also had the  breast mri. pet scan - Next step is surgery.

I would like to have a few pretty camisoles to wear in the recovery process and have been looking online.  The prices seem to vary quite a bit.

I'd like to have a dark form for protheses to match my skin tone.  Are there any suggestions where I may get more color choices.  The forms seem to be offered in beige; although I did see a transparent one.  I live in S Florida but will be traveling to the Boston area july - (about the time for fitting)

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi, Everlue and welcome. Sorry you had to find us but glad you did!

TLC through the American Cancer Society has about the best variety of prosthesis shades I've seen. They - unlike most other companies - seem to understand that there are many, many shades of brown. Find it at http://www.tlcdirect.org/subcategory/AmericanCancerSocietySiliconeBreastForms.html?

After one of my implants failed, I spent lots of time looking for mastectomy clothing I could exercise in and/or that looked like the stuff I always wore. I found a few places, but emastctomy.com was a good one. Find it at  http://www.emastectomy.com/

Another one I had great success with was a company called Lady Jane. The woman who owns it is phenominal. Find the site at http://www.ladyjaneboutique.com/mastectomybras.php?cat=2

    Hope this helps...
