GuitarGirl (Susan) - the Fourth Annual Dragon Boat Festival details can be found here:
http://sdalliance.org/cms/files/FAQ2008.doc
But our specific group will have a tent (and shade) under the banner of Team Survivor San Diego on the grounds of the Festival. We all wear sunscreen and caps - many wear rashguards to protect from the sun during practices, too. But on Saturday, we'll only be on the water for one heat - 15-30 minutes unless our competitors are so inept as to fall out of their boat or something.
It's really a fun group! I think, by consensus, our team name is going to be the Snappy Dragonflies. We're supposed to 'snap' those paddles into the water.
Yeah, right.
I'd love to see any of you there!

Hi There SD Sisters!
Well, I was in SD this past week. Emergency trip for Grammy. My baby granddaughter (3 months) had RSV and was in the hospital at Children's Hosp. When she got out I was there with open arms on Sunday and took care of her for the week. Lots of cuddles. She had me pegged. Wouldn't let me put her down when she was awake. She is doing better and I am back home. I expect to be back in July and hope I'll be able to meet up with a group of you then. Wow! Tuesday sure was HOT! 100 degrees??????
Loved all the flowers. Our spring is blooming all over the place here in Michigan now. Tulips are beautiful!
Love to all,
Linda
-
Gee Linda..I am so sorry to hear about your granddaughter's illness..well, next time you can maybe enjoy your time here...hope to see you in July..
meanwhile join our online group!!

Hi all - I think I can swing May 31st, so does that make me number "8"?
Where am I going?
(I've been asking that question for years. No one seems to know the answer.)
-
Heh girl!! Glad you can make it---not sure what number you are but if we are for sure going to meet in Encinitas this month it is at a place across the street from Scripps Encinitas Hospital...so you head south on the 5- exit on Santa Fe(go west) and make a left into the Rite Aid plaza at the light right in front of the hospital..it is Today's Pizza-- very casual and good food!
Yes Linda---sorry you had to put up with 100 degrees---very strange for So Cal---hope to see you in July and glad to hear your grand baby is OK!
Sylvia

HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!!!!!!!!!!!
-
that's such a nice picture, I'm convinced I can smell the roses
-
Dh just informed me he can't get that Saturday off. I will not miss it though. I shall find sitter. Someone from church told me that the girls at the Christian School have to do community service and that they babysit for free. I am going to call the church tomorrow and find out who is on the list.
-
Brenda, if you can't get a sitter, can you just bring the boys?
-
Nash-Your so sweet but you don't know my boys. Once the food is gone they are ready to vamoose. Although they do have some new games they may be willing to play while I visit. I will consider it.
-
I actually think that there is a GAME area in the restaurant--plus if they can be trusted to go to VONS or RiteAid alone---that is there too!!
-
Sylvia-Thanks. I am going to see Dr. Rajgopal today so I will check out the pizza place for a game room. I won't send them to the stores alone though.
-
I went on a garden tour today...it was fun...
-
Oh Liz, the roses are GORGEOUS!!!! What lovely, lovely photos, you are good, sister!
I recognize some of them, I think, Peace, and Double Delight. I used to grow roses when we were in Bonita.
See you soon, hugs, Shirl
-
WOW Liz ---you are a MASTER with that camera ---and the website TOO---to upload all of those---absolutely lovely--ROSES are my favorite---I just love gonig to my rose garden on Sat am and picking buds,bugs,leaves---whatever---they can be achore but are FAB to me---Scripps Memorial's garden is in full swing right now too---they omnly have 2 different kinds--double delight and a creamy white(not sure of its name) but they are beautiful...We are going on vaca 5/17-5/21---so I can make the reservation for lunch when I get back---we are at around 12 at my last count...yes? Bye for now..
-
Sylvia-How was your vacation? Hope you enjoyed your time away.
-
Yes, hope you had a nice trip, Sylvia!
On another subject, recent discussions on the boards have got me thinking that dang it, I really want follow-up scans in the absence of symptoms. I realize that's not the current trend, and I'm glad that my onc orders yearly MRIs and periodic tumor markers (although I don't know how usefull the TM's are for me) when those aren't recommended either, but still...
So, my question to all you San Diego ladies is (and I'll post this as a separate thread in case not all the SD ladies are "ladies who lunch"
), do any of you have oncs who order annual CTs or other tests to check for mets in the absence of symptoms?
-
Hi, Stephanie:
No, I have only gotten scanned when I had (or exaggerated) a symptom.
-
One more week left. I sure miss you ladies. Looks like I am bringing the boys and lots of quarters to entertain them. The have a couple of video games there. I will have them bring their gameboy things too. Let me know if this is not okay with anyone and I will skip this month. I can put them at another table. I just don't want to spend money on a sitter.
-
Hey all,
Just rummaged through active conversations and saw this one. I realize I'm a bit out of date here - but if you all decide to get together again (or if one is still in the planning) please count me in. I live in Poway.
Jeanne -
Jeanne-Please join us. We are going to Today's Pizza on Sante Fe across from Scripps Encinitas next Saturday the 31st at 11:30. We would love to have you. I think we have around 12 coming this time.
-
BMD, of course we don't mind your boys coming!
-
And welcome, Jeanne--hope to see you Saturday!
-
Hi, we are home from the wedding..
To answer your question my oncs have not ordered scans or tumor marker
tests with no symptoms..when my hip hurt they ordered a nuclear bone scan, but it turned out to be nothing...
See you all on Saturday..
