Dear Ladies:
I did taxol..
several years ago
and for me..
had terrible bone and joint pain
worse than the AC..
BUT.. positive and good outcome is
that I am blessed to be here now
Re: steroids.. yes, had the crying issues
brings you up and down like freight elevator
Take good care of yourselves on this
I am one of the gals who does still have
neuropathy BUT.. this does not happen to all...
Further, the infusions were 4 hrs
for me..
As for positive experience
once DX with BC, life is never the same
Most importantly, I learned that
THE TIME IS NOW
today is the only day we have for certain
and I sure try to make the best of every
day, which is a gift. I learned a great
deal from my Cancer journey
)
hugs to all

Hi - I had 4 dose dense A/C followed by 4 dose dense taxol. A/C was really rough for me when I compared it to taxol. My biggest problem with taxol was bone pain. Narcotics did not help. Someone in the chat rooms suggested 2000 mg of Tylenol 2xday for appx 3 days. I also found that the bone pain increased with the Neulasta shot. I swear I could feel my bone marrow reproducing! I was lucky enough to be able to skip the last one and that really helped. Some people use Tylenol arthritis, I just used regular/extra strength.
Overall Taxol was much easier to get through - I felt more human and clear headed.
Good Luck!
I was leary about trying this but after my 2nd tx I had to do it. It helped quite a bit. I had some discoloration of my nails and just kept them clipped as short as I could. I did eventually lose my 2 big toenails but it was painless.
I had some very mild neuropathy and it went away after the end of treatment. I didn't take anything for it didn't want any more drugs

I did have fatigue but I believe it was cumulative from all the chemo, and the stress.

Hi Heidi
So far so good today...a little tired but then nothing new about that..I was a little tense this morning ..they did give me some pre meds ..just a tad of decadron so maybe thats why I was tense...not as bad as the usual on A/C...I think tomorrow will really tell how I am reacting..keep your Fingers crossed for me...
Next week I want to know how you are doing...
I think its nap time...can't keep my eyes open...just really sleepy..
-
Oh wow, pdm. Your tired huh? I was hoping that the "fatigue" would be better - do you think it is worst on this? Yes! let me know how the rest of the days go - 3 thru 6 - I find that that is usually when the chemo affects you. I am still planning on speaking to my onc. this wed. about Abraxane. I will tell you, that if I get bad side-effects on the taxol like AC was, I am demanding Abraxane! Ok... .so glad so far so good for you - I know you also had a hell time. Keep us posted on your days ahead!

I guess I did mean fatigue...not really sure of the difference..but thats me...I am actually feeling good..just sleepy...not like the A/C ..I was so out of it ..couldn't function...I did laundry today and was able to do everything I was able before this darn thing..just sleepy..but the motivation is here..this is what I was waiting for..just one day at a time...tomorrow will bring its own...

Pdm, no, i totally know what your talking about! Fatigue was much different than "sleepy" - I know that feeling on AC. Its so hard to put it into words, isn't it- when you said "not functioning" - bingo. That says it all. I try to explain it to my family members and its just so hard to explain the awful feeling you get. I will take "sleepy" anyday! Thanks for writing back.

Second day after Abraxane...all I am getting is some aches...nothing I can't handle.....not bad enough for pain meds or even tylenol..still kinda sleepy but not put down..this is almost a piece of cake compared to AC...With AC I didn't want to go anywhere but bed..tonight when my husband came home I was ready to go out..and we did
