hey guys... i don't post here all that often, but the chat room was a lifeline to me when i was going throught treatment. just thought i'd give some of you something to look forward to, hope for, whatever.
i was diagnosed a little over 2 years ago just after my 29th birthday. i did surgery, chemo, rads and was on the SOFT trial for over a year. a few months ago, i was given the okay to take a break from the drugs and try to get pregnant. i actually had frozen embryos from when i was diagnosed and all my docs agreed that i should just use them, as then maybe we could control how quickly i got pregnant, etc. a couple of months ago, i had an oophorectomy since i wouldn't need my ovaries and it made me feel better in the time i'd be off tamoxifen.
well a week ago i was implanted with 2 embryos and today i got confirmation that i am in fact, pregnant... after breast cancer, even being er/pr positive and without any ovaries.
it's about time my body stops betraying me.
i know when i was diagnosed all i could think about was having a family and i never got someone to share a story like this. hopefully it will make someone realize it can happen.

Congratulations! I am a young breast cancer survivor too. I was diagnosised and treated when I was 32 and now am on tamoxifen for four years and I have been struggling so much to figure our whether I should have a baby plan. My husband loves baby so much!! No doctor can firmly give me a green light. It seems that it is really my decision whether I want to take this risk. Could you please share with me what is your doctor's advice on whether preganency increases risk of cancer re-occurence?Many thanks! God bless you!

Hey ladies - I've been gone awhile, but I had a beautiful baby girl March 5th, after treatments for stage 3 BC. I was dx at 32, and am 34 yrs old now.
I actually read an article that said that having a baby may actually improve our survival rate. It also said that being pregnant wouldn't cause it to come back. That the pregnancy really wouldn't affect that. So, being the positive thinker I am (or try to be), we decided to go for it. Got pregnant the first try. We have our son (7) and now our daugher (3 mos), after losing the twins in my fifth month, just before being dx w/the "c" word.
So, I say, do what you feel! For me, it gave me something to look forward to, and helped me kind of forget about the past 3 years. I did, however, have a placenta accretia, and had to have a hysterectomy - and they also removed my cervix. So, this was our last. But, being ever the positive thinker...that's 2 places that the "c" word can't camp out! LOL
Good luck & GO FOR IT! (If you want...)
