All states have some sort of program for mammograms--sometimes it is called Healthy Woman Partnership or Healthy Living Partnership.  They are generally managed by your state's health department.  If you qualify you can receive a free mammogram and, in New York anyway, you can be treated if you are diagnosed through the program.  I don't know if having a previous cancer diagnosis would mean you couldn't participate in this program.  You can also pay for a mammogram out of pocket but check out the state program first.  For some of those you MUST be diagnosed through the program to qualify for treatment.

I agree with Ann, check with your local health department to see what is available for free or low cost mammos. Sometimes the mammos are funded through grants from the Komen foundation but the health dept can direct you through the forms.

You can also check with the local county hospitols. I was without insurance when I had a large tumor removed. I got into what in my town is called "county indigent program" they pay for just about everything. I had my surgery paid for plus mammograms and doc visits. Just do some checking around on the net and you find what you need.

Call your local health dept, your hospital mammo dept, local breast clinics, and even the local cancer society and ask about programs for those without insurance.

Here in October (bc awareness month) one hospital does them free if you qualify through the local health dept.  I was told (checking for a friend without ins) that it goes by your income, although they don't require any documentation.  Seemed strange to me, but it works for those without insurance!

    Good Luck!
