I was wondering about the ratio to take.  I'm currently taking 1200calcium and 100 D per day.  I'd like to add magnesium, but not sure how much to add.  Do you take the magnesium seperately, or together with the calcium?  I finished 6 Taxol tx's about 2 months ago, and the last one caused my hip arthritis to flair up.  I was hoping the addition of magnesium might help control that.  Up to now, my condroitin/glucosamine/MSM supplement was all I needed for that.  Ah, chemo, the gift that keeps on giving!

I've just been diagnosed hypothyroid and borderline osteoporosis, I'll be starting Zometa in 3 weeks every 6 weeks.  Now taking generic synthroid, so I'll have to take it several hours apart from the calcium/mag.  Really puts a wrench in the pill-taking schedule!

    Hi,

I searched the community exchange under "vitamin D, magnesium and calcium ratio" and came up with this response from Ruby Tuesday

"......I take Glucosamine/chrondroitin with MSM as recommended on the bottle.  I also take Omega 3s as recommended.  I take Calcium 500mg/3x daily.  Calcium should be taken in a 2:1 ratio with Magnesium.  I do take a bit more magnesium than that recommendation because I have asthma and it is good for that.  As for the Vit D....I had been taking 2000IUs but just upped it to 4000 because my bone density test wasn't great.  Best wishes"

This seems to be what others have posted as well.

Here is a link to some information on magnesium....type the link into your browser exactly as it appears to get directly to the information.
